  • In this video we test the Russian Twister 6 slug sent in by Psycho Klown. We used "midi-shells" which are slightly shorter than a 2 3/4" shell, which gives just a little more capacity in the tube. Instead of driving these at high velocities, we show how impressive these perform at even sub-sonic speeds. It isn't often our own tests impress me.

      They also fired into the cross-section of the muscle rather than into the skin and fat and side of the muscle, which is how it would have hit had you fired on an actual hog, so it's even MORE impressive than you stated here, and that's already quite impressive!

      The prototype, the Shirinsky-Shikhmatov bullet is one of the oldest Russian bullets for bear hunting with a 12-caliber smoothbore weapon (1880s). There is a deep expansion recess in the head part, closed from above with a capsule for expansiveness. The bullet was most likely designed for the traditional Russian bear hunting in its winter den. The shooting was conducted from a distance of 5-15 yards, and the bear had to be stopped immediately. Because the bear, waking up in winter, does not go to bed, but goes to nearby villages and eats people, dogs, everything that he can find. And it can kill the hunters themselves. It is very easy to kill a bear with a 223-caliber rifled rifle at 30 yards in the head, the skull splits. But it's not easy to get into a bear that runs, and bears run very fast for short distances. And such a 12-caliber bullet stops a bear when it hits almost any part of its body.

If you unload on some scum bag and you round goes straight through him, through the wall and ends up hitting your neighbour then it genuinely was demonstrating overkill. Hopefully this fragmenting design might take care of that problem. Also, obviously you have to pick your targets and angles, but that may not be possible in the heat of the moment when your home has been broken into. However, I agree--so long as your cartridge only vaporizes the criminal then overkill doesn't come in to it. That guy decided to break into your home and threaten your family. Unlucky day for him.

So, can you really criticize the States? A country the size of the EU, with an insanely inefficient or malevolent police system, criminals who are treated leniently by the Liberal influence, and just regular-ass people who just want to be left to their business. The people should be ready and able to defend themselves and their families, be it against Criminals, or (what a German should understand more than Anyone I'd think) a Government that oversteps it's bounds. Imagine if the citizens of Germany, the Jews and the Üntermensch, hadn't been stripped of any ability to defend themselves before the flags all turned red? Was Germany ALWAYS a fascist, totalitarian, inhumane murder machine of a nation? Hell no, it's a great place with rich history and wonderful people. Which shows that it is Entirely Possible for a Government to go Bad. And there is only One nation on Earth that is honestly and truly Ready for if that happens. And you and I? We don't live in it. It's the USA.

    Dear Jeff: Thank you so much for responding to my/our earlier criticisms through the years. Your production quality has gone through the roof, especially with the small stuff we like to gripe about... like making sure to include American units (ounces) and not just grams, grains and other nancy numbers :) It means a lot. Your videos are a treat!

    • @taofledermaus
      @taofledermaus  3 года назад +1

      No problem. For foreign slugs, etc. I'm much more likely to use metric units.

    • @andybreglia9431
      @andybreglia9431 Год назад +1

      @agvulpine:
      The GRAIN is the standard AMERICAN unit of measure for bullet weight, powder charge, and anything related to ammunition and reloading. Metricrap is a series of bastard "measurements " (sic) to be avoided. If you see it in a designation, treat it as its NAME rather than an actual measurement. I got vaccinated against Metricrap years ago and almost got killed in the process.
      Perhaps I should explain how I got vaccinated against Metricrap. Right around the turn of the 20th century, Germany changed its Metricrap. 8 Metricrap changed from .315 inch to .323 inch. the guy at the next firing point had a rifle chambered for 8 Mauser. His bore diameter was .315 inch. He handloaded his cartridges with bullets of .323 inch labeled 8 Metricrap. They miked out at .323 inch. He chambered the first cartridge. the bolt was stiff on closing, sign of an interference fit between the cartridge neck and the neck of the chamber. When he pressed the trigger, the base of the cartridge case blew out. The stock bulged out at the magazine well. the floorplate blew out. The shooter got a faceful of brass fragments and burning powder granules. His safety glasses saved his eyesight. The extractor blew out just as I was coming up from picking up some of my brass and I got a glancing blow to the top of my head. They found the extractor buried in the wall at the end of the firing line. Because of personal injuries involved, both local police and the sheriff's office investigated along with the range staff. Both had personnel on site when this happened. I still have a dent on top of my skull where I got hit by the extractor, That's how I got vaccinated against Metricrap.
