I also have an MN128. I've changed the ESC with Hobbywing, and the transmitter/receiver with RadioLink. I'm not sure if the standard ESC and transmitter is capable of doing smooth movement. You could try to change the Throttle Rate on the transmitter, so the car will stop immediately when you stop throttling. Perhaps on this mode, the movement will be smoother. If it does not work, I highly recommend to upgrade the ESC and transmitter/receiver. Have fun! :D *update: There's a drawback though. You will not be able to use the lighting anymore, and need to buy another set of lights to be connected to the upgraded ESC.
