I have the Les Paul Modern Lite in Gold Mist too. It is a hot rodded guitar! I also got it on sale at Guitar Center! Jeff Beck would have loved this hot rod! It has the fastest neck I have ever played. The pickups sound great through my vintage Gibson and Fender amps. I love the guitar.
I snagged one of these a guitar center a week ago in Inverness green for $739 new. Pickups sound great and for that price it was worth picking up for the collection. I’m more into flame and quilting on my Les Paul’s but for the price I could always resell it in the future. And your right an American Gibson for what a Epiphone costs, it had to go home with me
How did you ever get it for that low of a price out of curiosity?
@@johnnyrockit8533sale price at Guitar Center during 4th of July. They seems to run really good deals around 4th of July and Labor Day. They also had Gibson SGs standard and 61s for $1,300. Kinda kicking myself for not snagging one of those too. The Gibson Studio Les Paul was also $1,300 during that time
I paid full price for mine when they first came out.
No regrets.
It's the lightest Gibson Les Paul I have ever owned, and easily (next to my 2011 BFG) the best feeling and sounding.
I'll be playing a big outdoor gig with it in a few weeks!
In the uk prices for these are so expensive the original price was £1500 which is $1900 and now they are on sale for £1000 which is $1300
No controversy here. I have played a couple and they were great. Only reason I don't own one is I have 2 amazing LPs already. But I really love this model...
It is an SG with a different shape for cheaper than an SG. Add to that it doesn't have the SG neck dive. For the record I have a SG Std. Ltd Ed so I am not being self deceptive.
I have never had the opportunity to touch one, but I am very intrigued by it.
Its hilarious they whent from 1500 to 800. They completely skipped the correct price point of 1000-1200 where it should have released imo.
I think a lot of folks aren’t recognizing it for what I consider are its unique attributes. I play medium gain mostly, and the 490 series pickups work well for me. I like the “feel” of the satin finish. It’s about the thickness and weight of a SG, but has the familiar body shape and control layout of my other Les Pauls. I think I’m going to have to have one!
I almost grabbed one of these, too, but I had already picked up a Tradition Pro V a few weeks before. My first Gibson was a "The Paul II", which is pretty much the same guitar, with some slight differences. I think I paid $799 for it in 1999, so it being $799 in todays money is a great deal.
Those stock Gibson pickups are horrible, but people will buy them for decent money.
I eBay them when I pull them out. These aren’t so bad for straight rock/blues stuff, but when you crank the gain, the lower notes start to get muddy.
You beat me to this point. It’s the return of “The Paul II” from the late ‘90s.
I just received mine today for the $799 price.
The only thing that I don’t really like so far is the tuners.
I’ve never had mini tuners, so I’ll give them a few days to see if they grow on me.
Overall, I’m bonding with this guitar, and will do whatever is necessary to make it better.
It’s a must buy at $799 imo.
Great bang for the buck.
It really is a Gibson Les Paul.
Where for that price ???
@@blakebowles6625 Any GC in California.
She looks and sounds great. Nice playing. Congrats!
Thanks a lot!
Big fan of the Les Paul Custom (the 5A 1 pc top for sale on on their website is inane)... those for me are "modern" Les Pauls... but these truly modern ones are a bit too adventurous for me.
I saw that same deal and really wanted to like it, but this particular one had a terrible fingerboard. The edge of the treble side toward the top of the neck looked like not a single tool touched it. It was literally just rough, uncut wood, like it was juuust wide enough to make one more fingerboard. Never seen that anywhere before.
That’s a shame. Mine is just an easy and comfortable guitar to play!
They are great guitars super comfortable. The only aesthetic thing I have a problem with is I wish they didn’t have dot inlays.
I don’t mind the dots without binding. I think traps look a little weird without binding…
@@vicsguitarshandlebars This thing would've looked killer with silver pearloid split parallelograms and either black or platinum plated hardware imo ! Keep Rocking Brother \m/
P.S. - You should really mute or edit out your camera audio for the playing portions of your video (or maybe switch back and forth for a in-the-room sound), it really detracts from what would've been an awesome tone from the close-mic setup you had going on. Shame that you went through the trouble only for the camera to crash the party!
vic, how much?? I think it looks awesome bro, grats
It was $799!
Imaginary controversy
I dunno if this is the most controversial in years. Not in a world where the firebird X and modern Flying V were released
Please level the audio out a bit. The guitar is way too loud compared to your talking. (I know blasphemy haha) But this is a youtube video we watch at home, it's not a concert :)
Also a god awful tone I had to skip all the playing parts
I know, I can’t even finish watching the video. I have to keep lowering and raising the volume as it keeps blasting my headphones.
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uhm, uhm, uh.
