All I can say is THANK YOU! so much for sharing this experience of you both and sailing around Australia too. As Meg would say "how lucky are we!!" I have adopted this saying too in my life here in Canada
I was having some scrambled eggs for tea when Troy suddenly did his spectacled bat impression as a consequence of which I laughed and splurted some food on the keyboard darn it!
This was delightful from start to finish! I can still feel the endorphins pumping around by body, the best medicine out of all those I've taken today. I've put this vid into my Favorites, the first sailing vid to go there. No need to repeat my kudos on the wonderful camerawork and perfect choices of music--but there, I've said it. It's been almost 60 years since I stood at the prow of a yacht watching dolphins--thanks so much for bringing back those days!
Your videos have steadily improved all along and were never bad, far from it. Pascale's quite an artistic videographer and editor. You both have a flare for novel aspects and POV's. Thank you for sharing your experiences with such flare and sincerity. I'd never have seen God's creation except that you've shared it.
Thanks as always. I appreciate you reinvesting in your productions. These are significantly better although I must say I was perfectly happy with all the previous videos. I believe more than anything else it is your personalities that make the channel great.
So so good. “Proper videographers” couldn’t do better. Your confident and engaging style ... at ease with your audiences, but also at ease with your environment and - delightfully - at ease with yourselves. Thank you for providing some of the best sailing footage ever. Love being one of your Patreon supporters. 🎉👍🍻⛵️💯
More than that Roy; you are one of our foundation audience members and the very first person to offer us financial support. There's a group of people traveling with us in our hearts and you're one of 'em!
Your videography and editing has really improved over time guys. You really seem to be finding your own style of story telling and its very engaging :)
Oh man! I forgot that you guys are the coolest! Winter is setting in to VT. Putting the produce from the garden up. And the boat is coming out of the water! I ll tune it!!
Thanks guys, another informative video. I really liked the echidna, we love learning about your beautiful country. Thanks again from your fans here in the central Florida swamps 🐊 good on ya. Stay safe we love y'all. ⛵🐬👍🎣🐾
Beautiful video! Lovely photography. The walk and exploring, diving and of course the Sailing! So many pretty creatures and a healthy lifestyle. Many blessings, can't wait for next week! Thank you😊 XO
Yeah I reckon a bronze whaler would get the heart pumping ... Also a lot of people dont realize that a platypus is the echinda's closest relative in the animal kingdom and that echidnas and platypuses are the only animals that lay eggs.
monotremes, sub-set of mammals.....Andrew, "animals that lay eggs" is the wrong term (biology), should be "mammals that lay eggs"...just correcting for the international viewers...not taking the piss mate. Only 2 monotremes..platypus and the echidna of which there is sub-species or cousins depending on where they live in australia and I think new guinea, if I remember correctly from a school project back in the 70's.
@@pearlyshells2430 Yes, was a little surprised our normally encyclopedic Troy didn't elaborate a little more on the Echidna (great footage, perfectly paired with soundtrack)....but guess there is a thing called Google so anyone truely interested in these wonderful little monotremes they could reach out. Pretty sure Andrew meant 'mammal' (nearly got away with it). FYI there are 2 living groups/Families of monotremes (egg laying mammals) Platypus (Family Ornithorhynchidae) and Echidna (Family Tachyglossidae), of these, there are actually 2 extant genera of echidna, Australia has several sub species of Tachyglossus aculeatus ssp. and New Guinea has several species of Zaglossus sp., this genera being recently revised by Flannery & Groves in 1998.....so unfortunately would have to now consider 1970's school report referrence a little out of date ;)
@@bunyipdan and Pearl Oh well I am an engineer and sailor... not a biologist .. thanks for correcting my mistakes and providing the crew with the correct information. They are fascinating animals. The creek is in the suburbs and nowhere could it be considered pristine. We often looked for them but never sighted them.

Saw an Echidna in Trafalgar, a country town in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. Used to see wallabies, koalas and wombats on a regular basis. Sadly not always alive. Once had to chase a big koala off the road as he was walking along the edge of it. With a bit of encouragement, he scuttled into the bush. You have a new fan. My cat General Fluffy Pants jumped onto my lap during the diving section and was utterly riveted. Will definitely show him more of your videos in the future.
Awesome video guys. Underwater video has been on point for a while now, well done. I agree with you about the way the GB reef is managed. Even with all the bleaching etc the underwater life is far more abundant than in the Solomons, PNG or Raja Ampat where the corals are great but hardly any fish are to be found.
Great episode a bit of everything. The narrows are a bit dodgy, at least they would be for me. Thanks for the dolphin footage & rays. The prickly critter was interesting.
Is "green on green" a thing in Australia, like passing on the "wrong" side? One option for passing each other if the other boat has less draft (i.e. cat with lifted boards), pretty common in commercial traffic on rivers. But needs to be negotiated via radio most of the times.
Very relaxed and playful Troy this episode!, good to see you both enjoying life to the fullest. Shame no mantas.....maybe have to nip out to Lady Elliot Island?..... thanks for sharing
Yes! You have definitely more stable footage with cam mounted to a handlebar. I like it when filming with an SLR (above water). Although I haven’t done any underwater footage myself so far, I really think a handlebar is making it much more professional. Regardless of camera type.
I drove my fairly new at the time Landcruiser Troopcarrier to that crossing at low tide. Put my front wheels in the mud at the bottom of the ramp and decided to turn round and go home. Was working up Gladstone at the time. Didn't want to lose the truck in bottomless mud. Didn't have a winch with me either so self rescue wasn't a possibility. Have been wanting to get over onto Curtis Island since forever. ;)
Just finished binge watching all your episodes over the last few weeks. Awesome channel that is a bit different to a lot of the other sailing channels (more relevant to being in Aus & awesome to see it done on a smaller boat). Once you have completed the lap any plans to go further afield? maybe the south Pacific?
Just love your stuff guys.... The dolphins are to die for, just soooo nice.. What model is your new camera ????? and something I have been meaning to ask for ages, what is your battery capacity that you use along your journey ??
Did you all know in the usa Soni has a camera school that they invite people who use their cameras on social media. They just had one this summer contact them and see if you all have one in your area. I do believe they pay all expenses. :)) peace
Another good video. Just one suggestion... I't may have interested your audience to mention how the Echidna and the Platypus are both egg laying mammals. (Monotremes). I always found that interesting. Thanks.
Echidna's are the bull dozers of the bush. More noticeable at night they make a lot of noise cruising around and it's difficult believing it's from such a small animal. When threatened they have no flight response and don't immediately curl up in a ball but using their incredibly strong legs and claws they grip the ground and are extremely difficult to pick up. If you hit one in a car you may as well throw the tyre away as the broken off quills over time work their way through the rubber causing multiple punctures.
