Nice! One of my relatives picked up a new, in the box, wincharger at an auction sale a few years back. Apparently bought just as R.E.A. came through. BTW my Father missed his first day of school to watch the electric come on. Would have been 1937.
Way cool. Can’t wait to see that thing in action. I might do solar at my yard. Try charging up 12V dead truck and equipment batteries. Little light in the overseas box.
I like this thing. I've always been told that my great grandparents used something similar to power their homestead. They hooked it up to some kind of series of batteries and remand off the grid until the power companies threw a fit decades later and made them get on the grid. Wish I could have met those folks. Grandpa cut off all ties with them, and their descendants years ago. Never could pry anything out of him about them. Might be better not knowing, no telling now. He took all that information to his grave. Might be worth investigating.
Interesting contraption and a great alternative to your generator. Maybe the store where you got the bearings for the lawnmower deck will have what you need.
Did you get this generator to work up on your tower? Very interested in how it worked out. Really like all your vids thanks for teaching me alot of different trades i did not no. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge, thank you
Winchester - beautiful, long time no see guns on your channel. But when i click on your video a saw Wincharger hmmmm OK. Something new to me but was interesting i can't wait till you finish that generator.
Did you ever get it working? Maybe you made a video and I couldn't find it but I'd love to see an update, maybe even see it up on the tower making electricity.
A fella I know has his turbine tower fitted with 2 forklift rams it has a big bushed pivot pin and when he needs to maintain the turbine he hooks it up to the tractor hydraulics and tips it over it's an easy matter then to get it back up. Might be an idea save you climbing any poles now or in the future.
I'm really enjoying your retirement, lots of time for new projects. Thanks for making the videos.
very interesting. keep us informed of your progress.

Those bearings are similar to bottom bracket bearings used in bicycles.
You sir are a wealth of interesting information.

I really enjoy projects like that. Being an engineer I suppose it's no surprise really. Love it just love it.
The bearings underload is a worry yeah.

Been looking at finding a windmill setting about to see if I could acquire it for some time now. Good study, thank you.
We have a jacobs 32 volt version with the extra gearing. The unit weighs about 200 lbs. That was really scary to haul up the tower.

Once again I'm amazed at your knowledge, skill and ability. How handy it would be to have you as a neighbor! ;-)

My dad talked about having one of those when he was a child. The batteries were glass.
