Great Chat! Very eye opening. I live in SW FL and summer is very slow. I’ve learned to be patient and not lower my prices too soon. Oct-April when the “snowbirds” are here I can’t keep stuff. I don’t do it for a living, just my therapy and to make some “fun” money. It helped pay for my daughter’s wedding earlier this year.❤
Oh Ms Abby, What a wonderful interview and Colson has so much to offer. I'm so glad you spent time to share him with all of us. I'm not a flipper...heck, I'm an old retired nurse. He mentioned working 40 years, I did just shy of 50. We had a saying that went, "See one, Do one, Teach one" when it came to the procedures we did. Always learning, doing and teaching. Thank him for his wonderful lessons.
This man is a genus . He learned what most people in business seldom learn. Treat people right and they will make your business thrive. Perfect example that hard work wins every time.
I enjoy your channel so much. I don't buy/sell/refinish/move - none of the things. But, I am enthralled with watching. You are a good interviewer and your friend is an amazing interview. Great show!
I have been looking for your previous videos for a month now and am just in love with your content. There is no $50K tools shop and $20M endorsements. The final product is so sharp. Great interview with Colson; it's just plain and simple. Keep up the good work. Cheers from Canada.
Abby, I almost didn’t watch this video because I mostly want to see actual furniture repair and restoration. But it was probably one of the most informative and interesting videos I’ve watched. Keep the videos coming and good luck as you grow your business!!! My oldest granddaughter is 27 and you remind me of her, particularly in your ethics and attitude about life, so there’s that! 😁
Love this!! Im just starting out and scared. My first piece I sold she LOVED it! It was a simple tv stand. She couldnt stop touching it lol. She kept running her hands over it and saying 'its so pretty'. Made me feel so good! Always going to be a student too! Trial and error and troubleshooting make things interesting. I hate boring lol! So love this video and going to watch again!! Cant wait for more!!
Thank you so much for showing us the video. I Flip furniture, and I have also learned to sit on a piece for a while. My current predicament is my house is full of finished furniture, and it's driving me nuts
I remember him from the 18 night stand video. I'm glad you posted it. It's really important that people see the value immigrant families bring to our country. Especially in today's news cycle. He's out there boosting GDP and creating jobs. Fantastic. Thank you.
Nice to see people that enjoy what they're doing. Had a garage sale once years ago & couldn't even sell a solid oak dresser for $20. I thought "geez are these a dime a dozen or something?" Ended up donating it.
It’s all about the market! People expect cheap to nearly free at yard sales. Back before Craigslist he would sell bikes and cars and such in a newspaper!
Hi Abby…just found your channel today!…first watched you learn to upholster a chair that was great! This video came at just the right time for me! I live on a 6.5 acre non-working farm in Delaware…I was a nurse for almost 30 years and had to stop working due to chronic illness 14 years ago….I had a good 5 year time within the last 14 years and I started buying furniture for my very old farmhouse then started dabbling in some refinishing for myself and others. I have always had a great appreciation for antique, vintage items as my father had his own furniture refinishing business. Most of my first homes furniture was old and refinished by my dad …that was 42 years ago and 3 homes ago and I still have every piece in my now forever home…I stopped everything about 3 years ago…I had a booth at a local antique mall and it was just not fun anymore. So I have a lot of furniture waiting for me to get going again and this video has truly inspired me to get back to it! We have a small ranch house on our property and my dream has been to turn it into a little store, maybe have some classes etc! Thank you to both of you for sharing this chat and for the much needed inspiration…new subscriber! 😊kim
I enjoyed this so much. I don’t flip furniture, but I love watching. I love furniture, it has a history. When I cleaned out my childhood home that my parents lived in for over 55 years there was a lot of furniture. I really didn’t realize, but as I researched my mother had always bought good quality furniture. We had a four bedroom home. I had complete all wood bedroom sets to all four rooms, and I took them to Goodwill. it broke my heart and made me sad, but I couldn’t use them. I hope someone else got them for a good price and loved them. What a wonderful work ethic he has. I wish him and you continued success. Great interview. The audio was fine.
This was great information! Another off shoot business you can look into if you get the audacity to expand is furniture rental….people will rent unique pieces for weddings and also realtors will rent to help stage homes for sale.
You are a breath of fresh air 😊. Colson seems like a priceless resource for any student ❤ I’ve told you before-don’t change anything about your videos; I love watching you flip and this interview was awesome. Good stuff.
Fantastic conversation! Your questions were excellent and you did such a great job at just letting him talk! I could listen to this man talk for hours! “In life you can be a victim or you can be a student.” Words everyone needs to hear. Great work Abby!!
This was such a great video! The information and knowledge from a guy who has been in the business, and been successful in the business is priceless! You hit the jackpot when you met him and by putting this video out!
That was so good. I thought "Oh no, 40mins of chatting" but he has an energy which draws you in and you had great banter with and it was awesome. Thanks
Great interview. I am not in the furniture space but have flipped a lot of stuff and flip houses. I love to hear the business and people management insights. At the end of the day learning how to work with people and build relationships is a huge component of success.

This was SO good, and so very informative. I don’t think I’ve ever felt like I’ve learned as much watching any RUclips video before. I feel educated and armed. I thank both of you, Abby! I’ve actually got my first set of furniture that I’ve almost completed. It’s a set of matching nightstands. I’m hoping I can sell them for at least $300 for the set. In all honesty, I’ve put more hours than that into it, but I’m still new and learning so I’m okay with taking a little bit of a loss. We’ll see if I end up sticking with this or if I go the route of fresh and faux floral, wreaths, swags, & arrangements.
Thanks Abby for the interview. I am glad what you are doing inspires a new generation of furniture flippers and for that matter a new generation of business owners. Thanks to everyone who watches and thanks for the comments and compliments. Remember whatever ideas you have write it down. I have one question on the used furniture. If you get a piece that has a musty or "old wood smell" (the kind that gets into clothing if its stored in it), how do you get that out? I've read that you can't, or just use perfumes (yuck), newspaper or baking soda... is sealing all the surfaces with something instead the secret to stopping this odor? Will it not just work its way through that sealant? I've got some awesome pieces, but don't know how to make them fresh/new smelling again. Any help would be appreciated!

Your comment sounds like someone who got an expensive degree in “furniture flipping “ but not making much money to pay the student loans you accumulated in the process.
