The decision to pass the ball after Julio Jones made the catch instead of putting the game away is the worst coaching decision in NFL history. What a horrendous choke.
@@josephleon7125 Yeah but there was at least some justification for that. It made sense to try to conserve time and give them 3 shots at the TD instead of 2. What the Falcons did though? There was ZERO justification for that.
@@gbrow1604 conserve time? They needed to run time off the clock and make the patriots use their time outs. A field goal would have won it. Shanahans dumb play calling lost that game plain and simple.
Once Jones made that terrific catch, they should've ran the ball at least 3 times. Even if New England stopped them in 3 plays, then they would've had a field goal attempt with about 3 minutes left to go up by 10. If they went up by 10, then it was pretty much game over.
To give you an idea of how amazing Tom Brady was in the fourth quarter....The Falcons ran fourteen pays with a twenty eight to three lead. THREE OF THEM resulted in quarterback sacs. You missed the moral of the story completely OP. They were up 8 with the clock winding down in the 4th and kept throwing the ball in field goal range. They did exactly what the patriots needed them to do in order to have a chance. If Atlanta would have run the ball 2-3 times from the 25 and kicked a field goal the game was over. They didn’t. They kept their foot on the gas, Ryan took a huge sack and the rest is history.

Miners were running all over them outside the tackles and he's calling pass plays, also running out the clock at half time when you need to score, have 3 timeouts, 1:30 left and passed your own 30 or so. Most blatant coach choke in history. Even John Lynch was signalling to call timeout at half. Obviously, he can take a team to the Superbowl, but he'll choke at the SB, so Lynch should let him get us to the SB then tell him he's got a ringer to call plays during the SB.
Yeah. Just run the ball, eat up time, and kick a field goal. Even if you miss, Pats would have little time to go down the field, and still need a TD plus 2pt conversion.
