The 2G are bad ass but they way way way over hyped. 1G interior still has futuristic jet fighter cockpit feel to it plus look like an 80s car since they were techinally first made in late 80s. As for comeback it all Renault-Nissan fault. No excuse why they between 3 companies can come with car to re-badge all their names n sell to compete with the Toyota/Subaru sport coupe market. As for a Lan EVO SUV...remind U and all haters that in Japan there a super rare LAN EVO wagon which is basically an SUV that it super highly sought after n powerful as fuck. I think ThatDudeinBlue should of done more research into a keiretsu or traditional Japanese conglomerate, as he got some key things wrong. First Mitsu Corp. doesn't even have controlling majority share of Mitsubishi, Nissan does. Second, while yes, the whole point of a keiretsu is for different companies under the same banner, to own a certain % of each others divisions. Meaning Mitsu Electric owns shares in Mitsu Motors or Mitsu Banking owns shares in Mitsu Shipping, but bear in mind, besides a once a month shareholders meeting, these divisions are fully independent of each other. Mitsubishi Motors NA isn't struggling because Mitsu Corp. is uninterested in keeping it viable, that's ludicrous as it does own some stock in Mitsu Motors. No, the struggle is the fact that Mitsubishi Motors NA made some really bad customer financing decisions in the early 2000s and then Nissan moving in after the emissions debacle to get it's hands on Mitsu's electric vehicle technology. Nissan is cannibalizing Mitsu for access to this technology. Nissan is relegating Mitsubishi to the SE Asian market whilst it controls the North American market. All Mitsu Corp can do, is sit and watch Nissan destroy it's legendary car division.

It would be awesome to see another great build from Mitsubishi and could definitely see it like a hey we're still here kindof deal. It's not like they dont have the capital to create another competent build. It may just take enthusiasts like us writing letter after letter to them letting them know that they still resonate with us. Show them endless videos of just how much some people will always take Evo over Wrx, (Hey love my subies too BUGEYE BABY! lol), or dont care how much work it takes to keep a 3000GT at it's best. A move like that showcasing the love for their products and showing what we still do and love about them can warm even the hardest hearts.

Coming from a current DSM'er, great vid man! You did forget to mention that in 2016, Nissan spent $2.2 billion for a 34% controlling share on Mitsubishi, thus joining them into the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. I feel this is a big factor because what do you do if you purchase controlling shares of a rival company? Try to eliminate or at least narrow the competition and their markets even though it's called an "alliance". They work together to improve technology and hybrid/electric systems, but as for their performance lineup in the car market, I feel that's being halted in Nissan's favor even more since this event in 2016.

I bought a Lancer AWD in 2013. It was a great car. Until it wasn't. It wore out suspension and brake components like they were Tic Tacs. In four years, I had replaced all four brake rotors, the hand brake cable, the tie rods, both front struts were failing, and the air conditioning broke down and began to leak all over the passenger compartment. The parts had two recalls in a year. The sound deadening in the car was so bad you couldn't talk to anyone at highway speeds. The car held out for 4 years, then just shit the bed one piece at a time until I finally got rid of it in 2019.
When I addressed these issues at the Mitsubishi dealership, it seemed it was all hand waved and I was encouraged to "buy another". Nope.
I drive a Mazda3 AWD now. Thank god. You know what's broken in 2 years? Nothing. I missed out on getting the Turbo, but by the time this one will be ready for a trade in, everything will be electric anyway.

My dream car was also a 2g Eclipse. I had a 3g with a v6 that I did just about everything to. I sold it and bought not only a 2g Eclipse GSX but also a 1g 3000GT VR-4. Whenever I drove my GSX up to my local Mitsubishi dealership, everyone’s attention turned to it. Whenever I have to ask for parts for it, it’s always a hassle but I love both of those cars so much. My GSX is bone stock besides an aftermarket radio installed in 99, but my VR-4 has some mods and is expected to make around 400 wheel. In 1987, there was the Gallant. It was way ahead of its time. It had traction control, stereo controls on the steering wheel. It resembled an Audi and had a similar price. I believe $27K......remember, this was the late 80's. The Dodge Stealth and Mitsubishi 3000 were the same car and I still would like one today. I drive a Lexus, yet some of these old cars were always my favorite.

unfortunately the 90's and 00s are gone and they're not coming back. I remember going in the streets and my car was the worst (and it was a good little sporty car mind you) you would see a whole parade of Supra's Evo's MX5 EK9's Fairlady's 3000GT's GTR's, Silvia's you name it, and all of them tuned and custom. It was a sight to behold! Good times but long gone. It's with heartbrake I have to admit we won't be seeing Mitsubishi's back anytime soon if at all. My daily is a 91' Galant and it's an amazing car way ahead of its time.

It's sad of what is left of Mitsubishi. Our first family car is a Mitsubishi. It will always have a special place in my heart. My uncle is proudly working at our local Mitsubishi factory. It's nice to have a car assembled by our people and of my uncle.

"They didn't have the capital they needed"...
They sent rockets into space, and you think they didn't the $$$$?
Mitsubishi doesn't need to make cars. That's not their 'bread and butter' business.
