Got one here I've had for 25 to 30 years, was rough as hell when I got it, all the wrong knobs on it case had been cut, drilled, hacked etc but it worked. Unfortunately the pll failed a good few years ago but it will be resurrected soon and used in a Zachary T chassis I have as a homebase project. The Zach T had been seized by the Authorities at some time in the past and converted to work on the UKFM band only over here.
There are numerous clones out there that have the same chassis but different PLL section. Stag 357 and WKS 101 use the LC7120, Palomar 500, Electronica 360 and others use the MC145106. The Electronica also has 3 bands.
Yep 148 or Grant with the scan board in it ..... The 148's had TR24 for the audio limiter 2SC 945 transistor that people would cut out , that's a bad thing to do on those radios , too much splatter ......I don't remember the one for the ADAM's but I would just turn the VR on the board for no splatter on my scope .... I jumped on board with ya and rang rang the bell ..... After over 20 years of silent keys I am setting up a new bench , nobody in my area working on radios and it's still going strong .....I have almost everything as for as test gear , plus I am making my own gear project's also .... I have a function Jenny but I would like to have a HP 8656 or the A version ... They getting a lil harder to find .... Mine is not capable of 30 % modulation that I'm aware of ...... It's a Tenma 72-380 ....
Yes you are right Tech's are hard to find and there is a lot of new activity out there. You need to jump back in there is plenty of work I am just on references from others basis and I have more than enough work for the next year...
@@TheElectronMan Thanks for the reply Mon Ami ..... I replied to a few other videos also , I am not spamming you in no means at all , I like your content and what you do on radios, I also provided you a source for parts and such , Take care and hope to talk to you soon again Mon Ami ...
@@cajuncoinhunter Thanks for the feedback I will continue to try and make some more content I have been busy just it's the same ole radio's 25's and 29's I like to put up the radios that are unusual everyone has seen the Cobra's LOL
Sometimes you can change the insert in the meter if you get a meter the same size, a meter is just a meter! Those sets are popular over here, but try to get one, not a chance. Uniace/Uniden board, with some extras. It would have been a nice-looking set when it was new. It sounds as if it is way over modulated. I would put a tone in and see what it says on the scope, an over-modulated set can sound real bad. I like radios that you can still do something with, unlike some new crap sets, SMD and not performing anywhere near their output power, then they are a bit deafer than they should be. Problem is, there is not a lot you can do about them, all the components are hand-picked, nothing to play with, so you can't peak them. Give me an old radio any day! I would love one of those, even though it is a manufacturer that never really impressed me. I have a set made by the same manufacturer and I can't get a dual pot for it. It is so long now I forget what values they are! I think it was 10K and something else, mic gain and something else. I must get the shed tidied out and get working on some stuff out there, instead of sitting watching videos!! I hate echo, unless it is turned down low, then it can make you stand out, but turn it up, and it sounds like crap!!! The meter light looks a bit dull, but that might just be the camera and strong lighting? I would make a cover for it, you might get lucky at some of the sales you go to, get a set that is junk and get the covers for it. There are some people that will make transfers for the front of the CB, but they d then to be a bit pricey, but they look very nice when done. Nice one, someone will have many happy hours on it :-))
Yes it will make someone a great radio I did put a tone through it and with the echo board turned on it tends to over modulate but it's good on the stock side personally I am not a big echo board fan but to me it would be taking away some of it's nostalgia by taking it out that and if used right it's not bad sounding.
Put u a 90 on your jumper so u don't destroy it when lifting radio up ..your putting all the weight right on the ol259 connector..gonna ruin the jumper..but get urself a 90
The old radios had style, much like old cars. Today everything seems to be cookie cutter, copy what they are doing. I like diversity, in looks and operating controls.

They sure don't make them like the used to...
What voltage diode pack do you like to order. I have those same packs for .5 and 1 watt resistors.
Love em...
I use 1 watts.
Thank you!
And I really get a lot out of your content...

Thanks for the Information :)
Check C69, some chassis it's the wrong polarity. The schematic and the board are marked correctly but the cap is soldered in the wrong way round.
Thanks
I have one too. Love it but yours is only the second one I've ever seen. Nice radio.
What are you using as a signal tracer?
I have a BK signal generator and I built a signal tracer from a kit off Amazon I have a couple videos on me building it.

Anybody know the usb pot tnumber for frequency adjust mine is a bit off frequency on usb the lsb number would be handy too thanks guys great video
You would need a freq counter and some other test equipment to align it correctly does the clarifier not work ?
