Aside from certain scenes posted on YT, I have not yet seen any of these films. I actually have not seen much of TC's work at all. Weird, right?

Not really, I had the "Lord of the Rings" DVDs sitting in shrink wrap for years before watching them... In college, one of my professors tried to make a point using a Star Wars example, a student hadn't seen it, and the professor said "What?! You're outside the cultural database!" :)

@@ACBMemphis Man I have not seen the LOTR series either. I am really out of it. On the flip side, I've seen every Star Wars film and television series more times than I can remember so I am not completely outside the cultural database. Out of curiosity, I checked out TC's filmography. I've seen a handful of his films but mostly older stuff like Top Gun, The Firm, Risky Business, etc. I guess I haven't seen anything of his since the 90's. I'm okay with that. 👍🏽

We saw Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 last night on an IMAX screen and really enjoyed the movie! I think it actually shares a lot in common with the first film. Much like Top Gun: Maverick, the film was preceded by a short introductory clip from Mr. Cruise thanking the audience for watching in a theater. The time went by so fast we did not even notice the long run time. With the introduction of "The Entity" which is a Person-of-Interest style AI, the MI series is actually veering into sci-fi territory somewhat.
