Aloha Emma, Thank You for this video. Great help. Today I just received an order of seven bareroot seedling anthuriums from Ecuagenera Ecuador. My previous orders came as potted anthuriums from EcuageneraUS in Florida, to Maui, Hawaii. But todays order was my 1st import outside the US, & the journey was bareroot from Ecuador to Florida to Honolulu to Maui…… So please know your video was very very helpful, & my new babies are now accumulating & checked into Hotel de la Plastic Tote……… Mahalo!!!!!!
This is super helpful! I actually just received my imports today. Going to do the exactly steps u did in the video! Finger crossed! Btw, where did u get ur clear matt pot?
Great vid! Which method would you recommend? I am expecting an import soon. I like your slow method of acclimating compared to other methods out there.
Thanks for sharing this video. Do have a quick question. in the video you did place two plants in Speghnum while the remaining in water.. What made you decide to place two in speghnum and the remaining in water? thanks.
I was testing out which method I preferred as I had been recommended both. For these specific plants it was a size thing, the ones that fit in the container got water while the others, moss. But I'd say do what works best for you!
Hi there! This video is amazingly helpful! I got distracted after watching it though and forgot to soak my anthurium warocqueanum in water for two hours before putting it in a pot with spagnum moss. I also kind of squeezed the excess water out of the moss. So now it’s almost two in the morning and I can’t stay up for another two hours to soak it and then pot with moss. I’ve also put it in a clear box. (not completely airtight) It’s bare roots from Ecuador, shipping in moss and it just got delivered today. Do you think I should leave it as is, or take it back out of the new damp moss, in the morning, soak it, and then put back into a pot with (wetter) moss? And then back into the clear box? (And tape up the box to make it airtight)? This is my first anthurium and I’m really hoping not to kill it. 😢 I would very much appreciate any information you might have time/energy to share!
honestly I think it should be fine as is. What did you end up doing? Also don't stress about making the box air tight. It's not necessary and will likely still keep quite high humidity if you put a layer of water at the bottom of it
@@GoodGrowing thank you so much for the response! I had it in some damp spag moss in a box, but the morning after I commented, I put it back in a pot of just water and let it soak for about 12 hours. (While keeping it in a box by a window) the meter in the box said the temp was generally between 65-70 and humidity above 85. After I soaked it,I checked the roots again, and had NO root rot at all! Now I’ve put it back in a pot with a bunch of moss and have been keeping it in the box with a grow light on it. It seems to be holding up ok. I haven’t seen any discoloration of the leaves or any wilting. I got some fish emulsion and I have some mycorrhizae coming in the mail and I was going to add those somehow? It’s in moss right now, so maybe at this point, I should just wait until I transfer to soil?
How long did you leave your grow lights on for the first 7 days? Also what intensity did you keep the lights at? Im starting with 2 hours a day at 10% light intensity in a prop bin, ramping up about 5% a day. Plants are in a cup of rodi water with superthrive, that are in a prop bin with new damp sphagnum moss to keep the high humidity.
I left it on all day, off at night for the entire duration of this video. Mine can't be adjusted in intensity, so it just was what it was. My plants seemed to be okay with it though
This was very helpful. I have been considering buying from them but I was very worried about taking the chance and then how would I make sure they lived? So glad you made this video.
@@jenniferramos5217 I've kind of gone off leca a bit. I like pon a lot more and there's a lot less work with it about pH and nutrients and stuff so I've kind of switched to that
Watching this while waiting on my Princess to arrive today 😂❤️ Should I repot them when the plant arrives it’s rooted in soil so I’m not sure if I should take it out soil or leave it?
Oh my goodness that's so exciting! If it arrives in soil I'd probably leave it rather than stressing it out more with a repot. Then once it's acclimated (maybe after a month or so) you can repot it if you want.
@@GoodGrowing my crystallinum and magnificum arrive in good conditions. The crystallinum is way bigger than I thought! Now they are sitting in water. Btw Ecuagenera wrap the plants with paper only so the leaf won’t get too wet.
Hi Emma, just found your channel and subbed! You've done a good job acclimatise your imports. How do you water these babies ? Do you let water run, once a week?
Yeah they are gorgeous! Anthuriums can be a bit scary and good on you for knowing your boundaries. If you're looking for one to try out, get a clarinervium. They're comparatively inexpensive and require similar care. I started out on a clarinervium and when I didn't kill that I figured I could probably keep others too
Did you order it from a different country? If not, then you shouldn't really need to acclimate it. Though it is best practice to quarantine new plants for 2 weeks to make sure they haven't got pests or anything like that that could spread to your other plants. Did you buy a cutting or a full plant? If it's a cutting, yeah straight to water should be fine. If it's a full potted plant, I wouldn't suggest switching it to water for a while, if ever
@@GoodGrowing It is from a different country (but their climate would be pretty similar to mine). And it's also a rooted cutting. I will definitely quarantine it to make sure no pests spread. But thank you for the advice!!
I'm acclimating imports now thanks to the tips from your video :) For the plants in water, how often do you change the water? My plants are in individual containers and some of their water has changed color.
@@GoodGrowing one of the plants had like slimy cobwebs on it. Almost like spider mites but much closer to spider cobwebs. I’m hoping that was a water issue too.
My order just arrived this morning, I’m literally sticking like glue to what you did! It worked so well for you! C
Ooh super exciting! What did you get? Good luck! you got this!
@@GoodGrowing philodendron esmeraldense and anthurium pallidiflorum, they’re both happy for now!!!
@@stellabeauty01 ah amazing! so exciting!
"Apparently I've got energy today", no Emma, you always have energy, and it's the best thing ever
Haha! At least on the days I'm filming, that's for sure :)
Omfg... When you broke the new leaf off you were so excited about idk how you managed not to cry..
hahah I nearly did 😂I cut about 5 mins of me staring into space contemplating all my choices out of the video
Whew not sure if I have the patience for this! So happy for you and thankful for your video!
I kind of think of it as not having the plants until they come out of the acclimation box haha
*I needed this video 2 weeks ago! 😮💨✨💚 but even then thank you for this informative video!* 🥰

So helpful!! Thank you!
how do we know the plant is successfully Acclimatised? is it must put in greenhouse (boxes , plastci etc) for at least a month? thanks :) great vid!
Yes i just recieve my plants today and was searchig how to acclimate

I defo still use methods like this to acclimate my imports. Even though it takes longer I've had few casualties

This is very helpful! Thank you! How much light are they getting while inside the box?
I'd say they were getting low-medium light from the window and medium light from the grow light, so a decent-ish amount
Where did you find those clear pots you used?
pretty sure they're aroid tower pots
Do you not open the container at all during the first week?
nope
