@@RusticDavid It is very zen-like: "Chop wood, carry water." Make a tool box.

Hi David, I’m learning so much from your videos. I’m watching as many as I can and am at the beginners stage. I would love to see a video about the different bits that can create holes like you’ve just done. For example a complete hole which I’ve now learned from you is with a spade bit. A countersink, counter bole, it all confuses me. I used a spade bit to create a hole for a dowel rod to hide screws but would at times like to just use glue and sawdust. Thank you so much for your time, your fans really value you. ⭐️

Just doing some binge video watching during the new and (probably not) improved state lockdown we entered yesterday.
Never having been a real technical guy over my life, I found the hints in this video surprisingly illuminating. Next job must be to make a bench hook. Yesterday I followed your hints on making cauls for my first glue up for old decking boards to make a bench that is supposed to match a pre existing one. The cauls were really helpful, including for holding the pieces up while varnishing last evening. I will be keeping them for another time.
    Appreciate the educational opportunity David.

Excellent I shall be knocking one of these up for myself ,and maybe some for presents, once I get a few decent bits of wood.
A good tip for keeping nails straight when hammering is to use pliers ,or something like them which usually have a gap in them ,and keeps the nail straight until the last few mills.Good tip about blunting the nails ,often split wood ,so will try that!
    Cheers ,David!😎

Could you use screws in place of nails in this situation, or isn't there enough width (using that width of wood)?
    Thanks.
Nice little project, by the way.

    • @RusticDavid

Yes you can use screws but predrill as shown here ruclips.net/video/vkGdFVVR7qw/видео.html
