Mike, I could spend hours a day watching your videos not only because you sound amazing and the tips are great, but also because your studio looks amazing from your drums to the smallest light detail. It’s just so nice to watch. Thank you for this very very good quality content!!!
If ever, somehow, drumming gets boring for you, all you need to do is watch one of Mike's videos. His enthusiasm and excitement is still the most infectious thing in 2020.
Love this fill! Ever since I heard the bridge of “Chaper III” off The Fall of Troy’s “Phantom on the horizon”, I was mesmerized by the RLRLRRLRLRLL pattern, and spent a month learning the skills necessary to bring it up to speed. I’m sure this lesson will provide that same spring board, and I appreciate you providing that avenue for encouraging the pursuance of such a wonderful instrument. I will say, it worries me a bit how often you’re addressing troll and hate comments in your videos. I know negative opinions are the loudest in the room, and as an instructor in a classroom it’s your job to settle the loud students and teach even the least willing. But at the end of the day, this is the internet. People come on here to target celebrities with hateful words as a pastime activity. Mike, you’ve spent so many years working hard to develop your instrument, your art, your brand, and your company. You make these awesome, free videos for us and ask nothing in return. There is nothing wrong at all with plugging the company you’ve put your life’s work into, the company that makes RUclips videos like this possible, in your videos. TL;DR- Love your content. Haters gonna hate. Don’t give them the time of day in your videos
I love watching your videos mike not only are you funny but your extremely talented and you have a great way of making seemingly complex fills so easy to understand and learn! Keep it up 🤙
You have become my new drum idol in just two days since I've discovered your channel 🙌 please keep doing what you are doing with these lessons and I'm definitely going to buy myself your drumlessons on your website!
Having listened and played to plenty of Opeth, that double paradiddle fill / groove comes pretty naturally. Cool way to spice up songs that are in 6/8.
Hi Mike, I really enjoy watching your videos as it really helps me in my drumming. I particularly enjoy watching your drum solo which you did at Pasic 2013. Would request you to do a lesson on the Samba groove you played during your solo. Btw, I was supposed to come to Italy this year to attend the 21 Drums Worksop... hopefully should be able to attend next year.
Woke up this morning and thought "haven't seen Mike in a minute," took about 4 hours and worked through all the valuable, educational youtube material. Took a 15 minute break and came back to RUclips to find what? MORE MIKE WORKOUTS LETS GGGOOOO😤😤💯👐👐 Edit: it was a great lesson.
The great part of this is that this sticking is a 6/8 cascara variation with the snare filled in. Drawing these connections is part of the joy of music. “Dude, Ill never play that!” My response: “this was my job when I played for a short production in the heights.” You never know when these things come up.
I saw a Sonny Emory clinic back in about ‘86. That was my official ‘linear’ baptism. Bozzio was co-headlining w him, in fact. Which leads me to this thought on this guy’s riff (and, man, I LOVE this cat already!) ... Bozzio’s BEST playing phase was what he was doing on the Brecker Brothers’ “Heavy Metal Be-Bop,” ESPECIALLY on “Inside Out.” If anyone opts to hear it, you’ll get the connection (though not iDENtical to this, but the essence comes through clearly). P.S. This guy is a drum student’s Phil Jackson. I paid Mike Barsimanto $50/hr. as a KID (them was EIGHTIES dollars, too) and learned less that whole time w HIM than I would in ONE of this ☝️ guy’s VIDS! Millennials? You don’t know HOW lucky your spoiled asses are! 😄✌️
That double paradiddle is spicy!! It’s one of my favorite quick fills. But I had never stuck a paradiddle-diddle on either end of it though. That’s dope gonna have fun with this one mike!

The bass drum pattern for the two double paradiddles sounds like the part from 3:15 in Opeth's Baying of the Hounds. Brilliant!
