Had this exact problem, along with the dishwasher beeping during the cycle but not necessarily stopping. I looked all over the net trying to find the solution, and most said that you needed to replace the control panel (at $200 for the part). Many said the issue is with moisture and heat coming from the dishwasher that degrades the PC board inside the control panel. So, I thought I would try to use an electronics repair trick and clean the PC board with 90% Isopropyl Alchohol to remove any oxidation/corrosion to see if that would fix the issue. The PC board, however, was coated in a clear/rubbery substance that prevents the board from oxidizing. But, there are several connectors that are exposed and one blue/round component that is sticking up above the PC board. Disconnecting the control panel, and then using Caig Deoxit D5 to clean all these connectors (both side) and spraying inside the blue/round component has seemed to fix the issue. So, before you buy a $200 control panel.. try using Deoxit D5 to clean all the connectors and that blue part and see if that works. Might save you money!
So mine was doing the same. Beeped, stopped. Sometimes multiple times during one wash. I would open, let steam out, close, restart. I thought I would have to replace it. Then I ran out of more expensive Finish tablets and switched to cheap Costco generic dishwashing packets. Zero issues ever since.

Our LG is freaking out electronically and is less than 5 months old. I shouldn't have to do shit.
