Next stop on my South East Mountain Bike Road Trip is Asheville, NC. Specifically Pisgah National Forest. I had the whole day off so I went big and did both Kitsuma and Heartbreak Ridge.

This loop makes a lot more sense if you do Heartbreak first. Climb Curtis Creek Rd to the Blue Ridge Parkway then pedal down to the Heartbreak access on the Parkway. Ride down Heartbreak then at the bottom climb Mill Creek Rd to Kitsuma. At bottom of Kitsuma either ride back thru Old Fort to your car OR take Star Gap back to your car. Starting with Kitsuma is not ideal, neither is an out-and-back on Heartbreak. This is a beast day either way...you just made it worse. ;)

For sure, Asheville / Pisgah should be on your bucket list.

Cool looking trail. I remember those switchbacks at the beginning from at STS video. Those looked hard, you rocked them.

Thanks Brian! That first hill is a kicker but you get almost 3x back on the downhill.

Oh my last video was here. I remember that climb. I sure was happy when I got to the top. Did Star Gap and skipped Heartbreak though.

Yeah, it makes for a long day to do all the climbs.

I live in Asheville and haven't been there yet :( It's on my list though. So many trails, so little time. I've had so much footage I've deemed unusable because either my front brakes were rubbing and singing me a song or when my cranks's cinch nut was loose and creaking. Broken frame though, man that sux.

Yea, if I know I can get back to a place easily I'll toss the footage and go again but this was a road trip that I'm not sure I'll repeat again soon. Get some of this though, totally worth it.

Oh, definitely. I hit Fire Mountain in Cherokee about a month ago. For some reason I had the stabilization turned off on my GoPro. I won't be able to go back for awhile so I worked with the footage I had and whittled it down to the usable stuff finally after a lot hours tinkering. I made it work, although I gave up and started over several times.
