One day in high school in wood shop using a fast spinning piece of medal (lathe) hit my thumb nail cracking it halfway down the middle. All I did was stop the machine walked over to my teacher and told him what happened. Walked my ass to the office/nurse room (small school so no nurse) put two bandaids on and went back to class.
@@Blackfox_o7 I know that hurts, but kinda a massive difference between that in a broken bone. Although something similar happened to me, I hurt my leg playing ball at school and had to have two people carry me to the Nurse's office. @@rrr_-sy8xy dislocated my elbow trying to hop a fence as a teenager, and broke 7 ribs, snapped my neck in 3 places and bruised my heart in a really bad car accident. Asshole that hit me took off, too.
Jesus. Bodies are weird. I've never broken a bone and I've been hit by a car, but my mother broke her ankle tripping on a single step and ended up with nerve damage and becoming disabled. I do understand Syd's weird reaction though. After getting hit by the car, it was just a weird 30 mins of hobbling around going "no, no. I'm fine, I'll just walk it off," as shock sets in.
@@m.czandogg9576 the car wasn't going that fast to be honest as it was just pulling out and they didn't pay attention to the fact I hadn't finished crossing yet. It was just enough to push me up the hood and then come back down on my ankles, straining one for a few months.
Easiest way to sus out a broken bone: if the pain doesn’t match the apparent injury. Sprains are painful, but broken bones send you into shock and basically becomes less painful in the moment
I had a wound on my leg that got infected and I became feverish, went to urgent care and it took 16 hours to get called from the waiting room and then 12 more hours sitting on a bed in a walkway to get to a room. This was during covid so I was told I was not allowed to drink anything until I got to my room, I was so dehydrated they had to put me on an IV for two days. It is somewhat understandable in that I weighed 500lb and the normal max capacity for a hospital bed is 450lb (though I fit and would have been more than comfortable).
I destroyed my ankle slipping on the bottom step at my apartment - torn tendons and cracked cartliage. Needed surgery, tendon anchors and microfracture surgery. Still drove my manual car to work and thenthe hospital. Even walked on it for 10 years
I never broke a bone before so don’t know how that would feel like. I would’ve been screaming in pain if that was me. Syd really does have a high pain tolerance to be not like that and just wanting to go home lmao. Hope she’ll have a fast recovery
I broke my hand several years ago and I didn't have any issues with pain until right after surgery. I knew something was wrong with my hand, but I couldn't feel much pain unless I accidentally bumped it. I did have bouts of nausea though
I slipped earlier this year and broke my ankle, with adrenaline I was able to crawl through ice and a huge snow mound to a street where my mom picked me up and I proceeded to wait a good 3 hours before proper pain medicine. The real pain actually came the second night after surgery when I got home, I was just bawling my eyes out from pain since they couldn't prescribe me the strong medicine they gave at the hospital, ended up sleeping upright that night because laying down was too painful.
I almost broke my elbow skateboarding…my friend had a grind component on the back of it and I went to grind the board and wound up falling off, hitting my elbow directly on the pavement 😰
Technically, it is not. Fracturing your foot is probably one of the lowest tiers of urgency lol. I'm sure it was painful but its not life threating. Also, there isn't much that can be done. She was probably given a splint or brace and MAYBE given pain killers. Also, people talking poorly about urgent care centers are kind of lame. They're pretty helpful for minor urgencies and for those without insurance.
I did the same thing to my left ankle while playing soccer in the gym during PE. Luckily, it wasn't as bad as Syd's since she had a break. I was moving and fell, so it wasn't as bad as I fell away from the direction of where my ankle rolled. Ultimately, I still needed surgery. It ended up being peroneal tendon subluxation. I tore the ligament and the tendon would no longer stay in place. It was right before COVID so I wasn't able to get surgery in time before COVID really started. It caused me to lose my pro contract at the time. Oh well.
I had a jet-ski accident when I was 12 and my lower leg got split open, fractured where it hit and fractured my rib and I did not feel a thing during it. I "broke" my ankle by just walking. Boston cobblestone and my ankle don't mix well it seems. Only time I've broken anything (it was more of a stress fracture). My joints pop and sublux a lot but that was my only break and it was lame as hell lol.

People don’t understand why people from countries with universal healthcare, that haven’t broken bones before, make fun of the US for not having universal healthcare. Literally the only time your body actually is somewhat “invincible” is when you like 9-12. But after that it’s kinda weird how easy it is for people to get injured, especially people 25+. I mean look at this, this is kinda something most 25+ people who haven’t skateboarded before wouldn’t do, but what if your just stepping down from something, and you have the mindset that your body is still similar to you before you were 19 (most people go to university at 17-18, and their fitness decreases a lot) and you land wrong on your ankle. As someone who played soccer, and had friends of other athletes from different sports, people get injured a lot, and these people were some of the most athletic people and in their teens. I don’t even wanna think about how expensive that would be for y’all. If an ambulance is 2k
A doctor was an hour and a half late for screening?? I get that we’re all people at the end of the day so I’d understand someone being 15, maybe 30 minutes late. But an hour and a half?! What’d you have to do finish up watching a movie before caring for someone in need?😭😭
My guess would be he had a lot of other patients to attend to. We have a pretty big doctor (and healthcare worker in general) shortage so I'd assume there weren't many attending physicians and they were swamped :( It's so sad.
Well for one fractures are a priority 2 level triage for hospitals and clinics so its a pretty low priority. Second thing is that 1. emergency care takes their sweet time sending over lab orders and 2. that's a pretty normal wait time for radiology department, wait times can go up to 4 hrs. Not to mention only radiologists can interpret the scans, the doctor just relays the actual information to you, so it could've been a situation where the radiologist was paged and it just took longer. Final aspect is its grad season, so everyone is swamped with new grads, residents, interns, techs etc. lmao, welcome to the american healthcare system.
When I broke and crushed multiple bones in my foot I couldn't do anything about it until the next day for the hospital to take X-ray and a cast. When I arrived the next day it was around 3 hours to wait for my turn.
