I enjoyed marching in unison, it's something that stays with you long after you leave military service
Postal couriers, amphibious, para's, marines, armoured, bomb disposal, combat engineers the greatest corp's in the British army
Agreed 👍
They ain’t postal couriers 😂 that’s RLC
As a USAF Security police veteran who was stationed at RAF Woodbridge from 1977 to 1980 it makes me feel good to see a military presence at Woodbridge after all these years. I salute those young men and women who are in this video.
Pleased to see the band in the rear for a change. It makes the troops hear the music much better. The band does a fine job despite having only 2 trombones, 1 euphonium , and one tuba. Thanks for posting.
Not a set of wings among them
Proud to say I was a member of 9 Para Squadron
advice for training? Im 17 joining basic in around 4 months
@@Ty-qv3ml loads of running & & press ups etc
@@GibbonsTalksBoxing alright thanks although thats the most basic reply i could ever ask for
@@Ty-qv3ml it's not rocket science.
Just get as fit as you can. Run up big hills. Run for as long as you can. Do sprints.
Not short cut to passing P Company if that's your aim.
@@GibbonsTalksBoxing im asking for advice, not a damn shortcut. But you know what, I'll let you be, because you seem pretty pissed off that someone asked for advice. good luck with the future.
Never been in the military, but my goodness those lines were the straightest I’ve ever seen totally immaculate. Loved the band. Our they still in existence?
Once upon a time in the army you applied for a Para course went to Aldershot passed P company, went on to Oxford did eight jumps, wings parade, then you were a Paratrooper.Whats the problem ? Ossenfeiffer !
Or the all arms course .good comment
This was in the 1940s It looks a damn sight tougher now just to become a para., F you were in the infantry you went to the Parachute Regiment or the Airborne forces units .
It was airborne qual not paratrooper
You are correct, 9 Sqn were the Sappers in 16 Para Bgd. When the Brigade cant get sufficient men to qualify for their jump wings they can serve in the Corps as Penguins until they can get on a Para course. The Corps attached to the Para Regt. have to have their trade qualifications but need not pass P Coy or Para Jump School. Thats why you can see some fat looking Staff Sgts and Paymasters!
I did Engineer pre para at Bulford 1970, failed p coy medical RTU!
Tell me another nation who does this better? Tell me another nation with such professional soldiering with heritage!
quite a lot of hats here not all have passed P coy or jumps course but can wear the beret because they are in an Airborne unit. (not like in the old days)
They have to do the same training as the paras
I noticed officers and NCOs without wings. Mind you I had a mate when I was in TA Reme got attached to airborne unit in gulf war and was given a Red Beret to wear never did any para training.
They should just get given the wings with the red beret too I think
I was noticing that as well, I know for us we've had an increase in non-airborne qualified personnel showing up to the 82nd recently as well... though we have busses going down to airborne school every week for them to remedy that =D
They all have to pass pps though?
3:30‘ „Arnhem“ my favorite 🎶
Very well played with a small Band with only 24 musicians.
Respekt 👍
My airborne brothers forever....there is no equal to the paras.....!
Who are you to speak for any of the families of our military war dead?
Does everyone wear the Maroon beret regardless of Para Qualification?? Few in there withvout wings was just wondering.
Yes, serving members of units in 16 Air Assault Brigade wear the maroon beret.
When I was an airborne sapper there was only 9 Sqn RE, the one and only!! And there was certainly no girls wearing red berets in my day!!!!!
There were at least two women there. No way did they pass P Company.
Captain Rosie Wild was the first female to pass the Pre-Parachute Selection phase. And she has a great name for a Para.
Support corps attached to 16AA get the maroon lid without doing P coy
@Gaming M Ok on the info.
And,bandsman or not,I see a Parachute Regiment SNCO without a single operational tour medal.
Parachute Engineer Regt SNCO surely
@@caractacus6231 look at the cap badges of the band. Parachute Regiment. Even in my lot,the band went on ops.
Jack Smith what about the women in the band? Surely the fucking plane wouldn’t be able to take off with them in it.
@@ilovenitnat Bandsmen/woman are exempt from completing PCOY however some choose to try or "give it a go" out of respect hence they do not wear wings. Some in the band are actually regular serving soldiers who also volunteer for band duties!
I might be wrong here but to my knowledge only one female soldier to date (an officer in 7RHA) has passed P coy. So why was there so many in that parade wearing maroon lids??? One more question, is this a reservist unit?? I was in 33 Engr Rgt EOD (regs) and never heard of them...
there are a few not wearing para wings so how do they get to wear para head dress?????
goldbloke Hi P Company is what anyone serving in Airborne forces has to pass to wear the maroon beret whether that’s the Parachute Regiment or the various airborne support arms Engineers, Artillery, Signals etc it’s only after passing P Company that they may go on to parachute jumps course to earn their jump wings. Those in the parade without their wings are most likely newer recruits who’ve yet to undertake their jumps course.
@@roryt9751 that is incorrect. Anyone can wear the maroon beret as long as they are in 16 air assault brigade. Depending on the unit it will have a certain number of positions that must be para trained. You do not need to be para trained to wear a maroon beret unfortunately.
Subtleknife12367 Ah ok I didn’t realise that, perhaps that’s the way it was once in the past? I thought everyone had to have done P Company to wear the maroon Beret, comes to think of it 2 Gurkha rifles don’t undertake P company as far as I’m aware but still wear the same beret. Thanks for clearing that up. 🙂👍🏼
They are engineeers
@@roryt9751 It changed in the '80's before 5 Airborne Brigade became 16 Air Assault Brigade.
We'res the Paras
My mate just went to 13 air support and got his red lid without even doing p company.i had to work like fuck for mine.
It's been that way since the mid eighties.
Strange to see guys wearing the maroon machine with no wings. I remember when 9 Para was the only Engr support to the Airborne Brigade (5 AB Bde back in the 80's). Tough buggers. NOt sure aboutthis lot. MY way of thinking is if you haven;t done P Coy, you shouldn;t be wearing the maroon machine. Just like bootnecks who have to earnt he green lid.
All the engineers would have done p coy although I'm not sure about the band boys
The Royal Engineers.
1:03 wow nice to see a women there
Look how many of them ain’t even got there wings 🤣🤣🤣
Look who can't spell "wings".
What's going on?!
We used to have only 9 PARA Sqn in 5 AB / 16 AA Bdes. I'm guessing a "regiment" in the RE is bigger than a sqn - so is this enlarged/enhanced capability?
And what's with the craphat at 0:21 taking photographs whilst wearing his girlfriend's bra?! Pervert...
Simon Signolet what
The sqn in front is 12 Para HQ and Support Sqn and, second is 9, the next is 51, the guy taking the photo is 61 which is based in the same camp but not a apart of the Regt.
The paras are mental
They are not " the Paras ".
Nor are paras mental.
👏 wow, bet you 2 are fun on a night out
@@ludaheracles7201 I am, can’t speak for the other lad though.
Is this a TA unit? At one time you had to pass P Company and Parachute School to be allowed to wear the Maroon Machine. And all them untrained parachutists, what happen when they have to jump into a war zone. Just half a Team. What have they done to the British Parachute Regiments and Airborne Forces.
All wear the maroon beret and qualified personnel wear the parachutist badge as seen in this post Look before
commenting. Not all of 16 Air Assault Brigade are parachutists .
Odear iam x 7 para rha royal artillery tell me i havent done the all arms course which is p company same events lol and btw we beasted. some from 2 para on exercise
as pointed out, there have been in the past units classified as such where not everyone is parachute qualified ..or who do you think was at Arnhem? And of course only ever been one Parachute Regiment
Its jokes
The maroon machine is the Parachute regiment, these are airborne forces , hats with maroon berets.
No colours - most odd
Regiment have Colours (Gurkha are the exception), Corps do not. OK?
The Corps of Royal Engineers do not have colours. Ubique ‘Everywhere’.
@@kevinthorp1419 I was not referring to the CRE
Women wearing red berets. Whatever next?
Says "Women wearing red berets, Whatever next" when they litterly have to pass P company to make standards.
@@NeoSim76 well, obviously, but generally can be referred to as either.
@@slyninja2298 - no you don't.
The maroon beret has nothing to do with P Coy.
Anyone joining the Brigade gets the cherry beret for free ... that's why the Commando Green one is way more of an achievement 😁
There were four Parachuting nurses on our course ,and they all did the eight jumps it was1948 .
