My hats off to all of you. These are some of the best badass bikes I have ever seen. Having grown up in the era of these bikes, makes me miss those days. I have had all sorts of bikes from these bikes to crotch rockets to my current custom chopper and I will say that my all time favorite bike was my 1980 Z1R. I regret every day that I did not keep that bike. That bike saw everything from me and my wife bar hopping on it the whole week of our honeymoon to cruising College Avenue in Appleton Wisconsin which was like the avenue cruising on American Graffiti. I had my Z all Chromed out but not even close to the extent of these machines. And yes back then I was even sporting the full Mullet on it. When I was younger my dads friends all used to leave the local bar at 2am and let their Z's rip down the main street out to the country and I tell you there is nothing in the world compared to hearing those bikes with the Kerker headers on a hot summer night with the windows open. Again my hats off to you guys for not following the norm with bikes these days and going old school with the coolest bikes in the world.
Chances are all these dudes are on Glides now. This fad faded out with the brothas which is fine with me cause that means there’s some sick ass Zs out there for us Z lifers.
@@hottotty13 True! I've never seen such a bandwagon as these guy's buying full-dress Harley's. They're like the Borg Collective: same bikes, same loud, goofy music playing, same tattoos, same clothes. And they all seem to ride like assholes. I own 4 Japanese bikes from 1973 to 1985 and I'm good with that!
Manufacturers are way too cheap to make bike like these today. It's all about making and saving money. Look at Yamahas today, they killed R6 and made R7 which is a joke based on super budget Mt-07. Same with R9 coming What a Shame
Love the old z 900's and had a Z1R 1000 ! Where was about 10 of us that had one of the other a 900 to1000 !We get together and take off on a all day ride ! Sometimes not get back till the mid am hours ! Good times Good times !1973 being the oldest and mine being the newest a 1978 kaw 1000d Z1-R !There classic now wroth so much money especially in stock unmolested forum ! Please don't take this in the wrong way ! All of them kaws are unquestionably decked out and customized ! Beautiful bikes ! I'm one to love complete original as close to factory the better ! For its resale value ! Not every person's taste is the same that's y everyone of the bike was customized different in some way ! To fit ther flair and unique mind blowing taste !
Sick Z1R's! I posted on another video you posted of you guys in a parking lot. Just curious where you guys bought or had your seats made (on the two red Z1R's) Thanks for any help you can give. Keep those bikes alive, they're amazing! Strong work
Obzion have had any luck with information I'm building a KZ1100 and need the same Swingarms they have. Any information will help or give me a call at (229)854-7593. Thanks .
i built 3 of these bikes: bik #1 is a 79/80 kz1000 mkll w/1170cc J motor, #2 (silver)77 kz1000 1105cc and the green one is a 74 Z1 1170cc J motor. Green Z1 1/4 @ 10.25 126mph at PBIR when it was called MOROSO. Check grasshopperkz or kzfrost to see other KZ's i built. Only real difference in chassis setup between the Z1 and MKII is amount of rake. MKII has a little less. Swingarm length about the same also, MKII's is a little wider
obzion MrJr0090 and traviscarey posted some vids of the MKII, Z1 and my dragbike Z1 on RUclips. Street vids are in downtown Mia, racetrack vid was from the old Countyline Drageway in Mia Dade Co.
obzion Green Z1 rake = 8 or 9 degrees over stock swing arm = 8inch longer at the end of axle slot Mkll rake was a little less, maybe 6 or 7 degrees over stock. And swing arm an inch or two longer.
sorry for all the questions. but what up numbers could I expect from a 1070 engine kit. would I be able to keep up with my buddies cbr1000rr I think he's at 140hp
Hey, on my bike I chromed the factory rims. Other guys will use aftermarket rims or off newer Kawasaki bikes and do the conversion to mount them. The front end are KZ just the frame has been raked to have the front wheel sitting out furhter.
Love the video...by the way are those spider exhaust on the very 1st bike and the red Z1, where can I get one? I just retro fitted a sportbike frontend on my 77kz and I need ground clearance. the megaphone hits the ground on right turns pretty bad...help if you can with that info, thanks!
Those are some (BADASS KZ'S) You guys should bring them to the rocker box show in milwaukee on augest 4th the bigges bike show around here.About 2000 bike's and not all harley's.Some very cool bike's. Awsome video

They're set up to drag race. These bikes handled like shit stock anyway. They were heavy and not very aerodynamic. My first bike was a 78 kz1000. I'd love to have one of these.

Manufacturers are way too cheap to make bike like these today. It's all about making and saving money. Look at Yamahas today, they killed R6 and made R7 which is a joke based on super budget Mt-07. Same with R9 coming

obzion
Green Z1
rake = 8 or 9 degrees over stock
swing arm = 8inch longer at the end of axle slot
Mkll rake was a little less, maybe 6 or 7 degrees over stock.

That last bike, damn handle bar dent in tank. Did the same thing to my KZ1100. (happens when you put drag bars on them)
Those are some (BADASS KZ'S) You guys should bring them to the rocker box show in milwaukee on augest 4th the bigges bike show around here.About 2000 bike's and not all harley's.Some very cool bike's. Awsome video

Proper!
Badass
please dont eer take this video down!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously you don't know much about drag racing lowering and stretching is to change weight distribution and lowering is for air flow
there nothing under 1000cc here is there xD
I'M ROLLEN A 81 KZ1000j RIGHT NOW!!!,AN WHEN ONE OF MY BOYS ASK TO RIDE IT WHEN THEY GET BACK IT SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF THEM CAUSE ALL THAT UNPREDICTABLE HORSEPOWER IS A PURE RUSH!!! OLD SCHOOL FOOL
very crazy....
I'm calling the cops!
What is the point of lowering and stretching a motorcycle? It ruins the handling, which is the *best* part of riding.
They're set up to drag race. These bikes handled like shit stock anyway. They were heavy and not very aerodynamic. My first bike was a 78 kz1000. I'd love to have one of these.
Doug Elick they never rode that great lol
