Heroes who helped the caged elephant are from another sunctuaries. They risked their life to help them, if there was no help from Thai royal navy, they could not make it. The gate was locked by ENP, they said let it be...... 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
This is truly sad Let me tell you more details I lived in Chiang Mai city and witnessed massive flooding During flood the chaos stories were posted on the internet Then there was a clip spread on social media elephants escaping the flood one elephant is blinded so others help her by making a sound to guide her This is so tragic to me Also amazed me that ENP post the clip and asked for donation At that time my thinking was oh may be they need money for rescuing the elephants so I donated and also shared the story to other for more donations Question in my mind why ENP did this having time filming but not trying to move the elephants early So sad for the whole nation That’s why they are blamed Then we the Thai people learned that the ENP never trained the elephants that’s why they can’t rescue them during any crisis So sad those male elephants in this place were left intentionally in the flood just because ENP can’t move them at that time the rescue team from the whole nation came to help (why ENP still post asking for donations) the mahouts from nearby came to help the untrained elephants which risked their life just only trying to save life of elephants I don’t know what to say but just want to share another side of the same story
My understanding is that some elephants have been trained. In fact, many of them used to work in the logging business, in riding camps, or as begging elephants. Only the very young have not been ridden before Several factors contributed to the disaster: the sudden onset of the floods, and not enough mahouts for more than one hundred elephants and other animals. Just not enough time.
Thank you for this useful video. Thank you for your true understanding. Thank you for the rescue teams. There are painful lessons to be learnt from this mistake.
Bless those Mahouts. I'm glad the elephants allowed them to ride them. This is the only time riding an elephant with a rope around it's neck is ok! They all did a great job rescuing them. Sorry for the loss of the 2 elephants. It could have been worse. RIP Ploy Thong and Faa Sai!
I do give credit to the ENP mahouts and the mahouts who came to help. Good people who truly care about elephants and not because they bring in money, which I do not doubt the mahouts never see their fair share of.
@@livingincaptivityIII All Mahouts ( Khwan in Thai language,) here in this video are not from ENP but from other elephant camps who risk their life helping ENP elephants, if It’s not because of them, there will be more dead of ENP elephants! ENP didn’t train their elephants so when there was emergency and had to evacuate elephants, the ENP staffs couldn’t ride and command elephant where to go. Real Khwan( mahout) is not only a care taker but also the trainer who can ride and command the elephants which there is no staff like that at ENP. Other 20 elephant camps in the same area which near the river also had flooding but there is no single elephants die or injured or even touch the flood water because they had already moved elephants to higher places many days before the flood came, they listened when the local government had announced about flooding many days before which was since 20 September, while ENP opened for tour till last minute (3-4 Oct). Male elephants (around 10) were locked in concreted fence, staying in the water for 2 days ( ~30 hrs) and the water level nearly reach their head, some old blind elephants also were locked in concrete fence. If ENP really love elephants why they didn’t unlocked the door of concrete pen? The ENP staff couldn’t control the bull elephants so they were scared to open the door and just let the bull elephants locked inside the concrete fence full of water for 2 days! Let that sink in!. These Khwan of other elephant camps had to risk their life to help ENP elephants because it’s very dangerous to approach elephants that never been trained by them. And when the recuse team arrived, no single staffs from ENP stayed to tell the rescue team where was the gate to open, the rescue team had to dive in mud water and cut the iron to open the way by themselves! If ENP say they have many animals and many of them are injured so it’s difficult to move them all, some other elephant camp also have injured old elephants, and some camp also have many many elephants, why other elephant camps can managed to evacuate all elephants but ENP couldn’t do? and why didn’t ENP evacuated animals before other elephants parks if it’s so hard to moved Bull elephants? Why didn’t they move difficult case like untrained Bull elephants and old blind elephants first? Why let them be the last? If there was Khwan riding the blind elephant and guide the elephant where to go, she would not have to die
@@livingincaptivityIIIin this recuse video there is no ENP mahouts, there were only mahouts from other elephant parks, don’t give fault information! This was the saddest day I've ever seen at ENP. I don't remember a lot about Fah Sai but I definitely knew my sweet girl Ploy Thong! l admired her so much. Elephants are incredible swimmers.. they have even been filmed swimming in the ocean, miles from shore. Thanku to all who helped these gorgeous animals. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
I am Thai and very sad that you don’t tell the truth .Thai people know that you want donation from the foreigners only. The true story on that day can find on internet . sorry for my poor English and thank you for reading . I just want to explain but cannot communicate in English.
Sadly this has created waves of online attack on Lek and her team at ENP. It’s so appalling. People show their true colors in time of crisis. Hats off to those volunteers risking their lives to help other people and animals. I just wish those who weren’t even there to assist would stop using their keyboard spreading hatred. What world are we living in now?
Mahouts and most of volunteers are form other elephant sanctuary. These major flood in Chiang Mai effect other parks and sanctuary as well what they did is moved elephant to safer place. while ENP didn't.
Apparently Lek is the one who "showed her true colors". Those elephants were deliberately left behind! Asking for donations before they were even safe! I used to sponsor a couple of elephants there. They used to put up long videos on a regular basis of a lot of different ones, then just the babies. They make a video when they "rescue" a new one, then you never see them again. You can ask and ask where a particular one is and you never get an answer. There are supposedly 118 elephants there. Where are they? How are they? Their mahouts should keep the elephants used to being handled and ridden in case of emergency. The mahouts who came to help, proved that is a good idea. I hope there will be an investigation, including an accounting of every elephant on the property.
Today the alliance of elephant lovers will go to tha parliament to summit a complaint to the chairman of National Government Commission for the investigation because there're some ENP's elephants still missing after flooding@@livingincaptivityIII

The foot is crippled due to injury from an accident in a previous farm, before the elephant is moved to Elephant Nature Park. The cripple is not from the flood.
This is a sanctuary. The elephants roam free during the day and are kept in the enclosure during the night. No chains, no riding, washing oder feeding by tourists. Most of them are freed from logging, begging or riding Camps. It's the Most ethnical sanctuary I've ever watched. The mahouts in this report are only riding them to Guide them to safety. A lot of elephants are handicapped, blind and can live there free for the Rest of their lives.

Let me tell you more details
I lived in Chiang Mai city and witnessed massive flooding
During flood the chaos stories were posted on the internet
Then there was a clip spread on social media elephants escaping the flood one elephant is blinded so others help her by making a sound to guide her
This is so tragic to me
Also amazed me that ENP post the clip and asked for donation
At that time my thinking was oh may be they need money for rescuing the elephants so I donated and also shared the story to other for more donations
Question in my mind why ENP did this having time filming but not trying to move the elephants early
So sad for the whole nation
That’s why they are blamed
Then we the Thai people learned that the ENP never trained the elephants that’s why they can’t rescue them during any crisis
So sad those male elephants in this place were left intentionally in the flood just because ENP can’t move them
at that time the rescue team from the whole nation came to help (why ENP still post asking for donations) the mahouts from nearby came to help the untrained elephants which risked their life just only trying to save life of elephants
