Mark, you went WAAAAAAAAAAY back and I thank you for sharing this classic 60 minute episode.
Thanks for keeping the commercials in too! Took me back to 1980!
Even as a kid I vividly remember this episode! Great memories, commercials included!
Aww… Willie was awesome. I wonder how the rest of his life has been. 😊
We lost Bob Barker on 8/26/2023. R-I-P!
32:03 Johnny Olson was the Greatest Announcer of All-Time
Rod Roddy wasn’t half bad either. But once you get past those two gentlemen, their announcers have sucked. My least favorite is the guy that has been with Drew Carey. But then again I don’t like Drew Carey so I don’t watch the show anymore. 43:19
@@comancheviperrrr are you talking about George Gray?
@@chaupin5 I believe that’s the gentleman. I just don’t like the price is right at all nowadays. It’s so bright. It looks like Barney threw up all over the set unless I’ve changed it recently. Drew Carey has absolutely zero energy. I know he had a big space to fill once Bob Barker left. But, he just ate it. And that really sucks because I love that show for so many years. I refuse to watch it since you’re carry took over. I know the show we’re gone without my one man not watching lol.
Back when commercials were wholesome, instead of "Ask your doctor for , side affects include nausea, vomiting, convulsions, heart palpitations, risk of heart attack, suicidal tendencies, desire to rape your dog..." Forgot what TV was like back in the day.
Exactly, society in a su icide pact
Agree 100 percent
Happy birthday 🎂
Piece out
And the presidential election commercial was wholesome too.

Laura Travis's first Price is Right appearance.
I say first because she would reappear 5 years later on a syndicated TPIR hosted by Password Plus & Name That Tune host Tom Kennedy. Coincidentally, the 1985 Price is Right was shot at the same studio as the daytime, and even used the same set.

55:22 $98,621!? That would've been a nice total in the 80s.
It would've been there if the display wouldn't glitched up, then the actual price would've been $107,183 for a extreme bedroom set or an expensive car in the 80s like that.
@@itetpirsonicfan3931 I know. It was a podium from 1972 that was repainted a few times til '83 and used til '84.
wow so this was when America was normal??
Some observations only interesting to a certain type of nerd:
The "Showcase of the Future" insert took over 4 minutes, leading to Bob rushing through parts of the show more like a modern-day episode (with its higher number of commercials). Interesting how he kept most of the Contestants' Row bantering going, but then sped up whenever they got to the pricing games.
It also appeared that the camera following Bob in the audience at the end was having some technical difficulties, so they stayed with the shot of the models for the last 30 seconds or so.
This was the same year and month i was born, 13 days before i came into the world
The price of the microwav range in 1980 was $1050 which is equivalent to $3,997.00 in the year 2024...!
Unreal.
This was taped out of order and does not include the "Please stay tuned for Search for Tomorrow, one-half hour from now on most of these CBS stations", which would be dropped permanently by December 18, 1980.
A lot of Bob’s comments about Willie are really upsetting.
Could you imagine asking him his weight now?
Maybe Willie's trying to lose some weight
48:57 For people wondering why episodes from this era cannot be rerun.
The fur coat. Peta
Bob eventually got the show to stop putting out fur coats because of his love of animals.
... actually his wife Dorothy Jo's love of animals. She was an "animal rights" activist, and after she died, he eventually carried on her legacy. @@redmustangredmustang
@@privateprivate1865tell me you know nothing about Bob Barker without telling me you know nothing about Bob Barker.
By Sept 13, 1982 is when fur coats were gone from the show for good Note that some of the 70’s and 80’s episodes also have aquarium prizes presented with live fish

Love the Blackout Pinball Machine offered in the "Future" Showcase
My birthday!!🎉
The little piano note before the price is right intro begins
CBS hourly chime. Can still be heard at the top of the hour on affiliates of CBS News radio.
this is great quality ! Thank you so much
Those cowboy feathered hats like she wore and designer jeans and roller disco all the in thing then
14:37 That was very nearly another "She came on down, and they came on out!" moment again!
My grandmother used to drink Sanka coffee.
Didn’t see any commercial about medicines to ask your doctor about, I was a baby during this time. It must’ve been a great time to be grown
@55:23, wow, you think he went over?
Waaaaaaaaay back iseen to 1972new price is right
Hi Markyyy! I won the showcase on "The Price is Right" show #3921D, aired December 22, 1980 (it was a Christmas show). This was really before people had VCR's, so I never was able to get a copy. Is there anyway you know of to get a copy of this show?
I don't have that episode. Your best bet is contact archive@fremantle.com for a studio master copy (though they'll charge you a fee).
OH WONDERFUL!!!! TY@@markyyy94 !
Now lets make a deal is hour long like the price is right
The week Reagan was elected president
And the GOP's destruction of America began
13 years later, my sister was born
I like these original commercials
Auntie Pat VS Grandma 👵
The Superman theme!
I wished I had that robot .
I remember that little girl in the Parkay commercial!
55:06 Willie might bid too high
Bob Barker got his cheek kissed by more women than anyone in history, I think.
Not sure because Richard Dawson got a lot of kisses too lol
Adrienne VS Grandma 👵
The showcasing of car prizes music always dramatic
9:11 omg BB, did you really say that out loud? lol
I wouldn't mess with willy
Why were the Showcase of the Future entries sent to NY if the show was filmed in LA?
Contracted through a third party for the contest due to S&P rules
Yippy Skippy one word nostalgia!
17:38 Reagan/Bush Ad #1 - Inflation
53:18 Reagan/Bush Ad #2 - Taxes
At least the first contestant won the shoes she was asking about in regard to how to play the game.
What did he meam by "loot"
The clock game is a good measure on how stupid people have become. This guy did it in a little over twenty seconds and in the 1980s it was one of the easiest games but by the turn of the century I noticed people barely able to win one prize in thirty seconds,. They could not understand higher or lower when it came to numbers. I've heard 700 - higher says bob - 500 says the moron. It was bad I dreaded seeing the game.
😂😂
That was joe greene his son and rocky bleier
Imagine Willie on the moped driving up getting in the hot tub.
You certainly can't make fun of someone's weight on national TV these days!
That big old dude will he kind of got screwed there in the showcase. I mean most of the stuff in his showcase with something a woman wants more than a man. Especially like the fur coat. And then she gets that bad ass car. Or will he should I get that triumphs. That was a nice looking car. Too bad that company’s not around anymore. It really was my favorite contestant in this episode for sure.
13:42 and the fat shaming continue. Oopsa daisy BB.
Yeah they went in way too hard on Willie. Seems like a really nice dude
Kids VS Train Feet 🚊
Bonbel cheese later be mini babybel
Man, all she had to do was bid one dollar.
Joe greene and Swanson
Sexy pirates.😊
Fat shaming at 09:17
He would've never made it today way too much sexual harassment
17:38 that's what's happening under President Joe Biden or as I like to call him, Joke ByeDumb.
Inflation has come down from 9% to 3% and is way lower than most
other parts of Europe and the world. Reagan didn't bring inflation down,
he made it worse and it was during his tenure that taxes went up on the
middle class, and signed a law that began taxing of Social Security.
You no doubt didn't live through the 80s and all the bullshit Reagan started
like trickle down economics for one. GGF dumbass
