The reason why Taeyeon's high notes are more powerful is because Tae has a thicker voice than Jessica. And I do strongly agree that only Jessica's voice could blend well with Taeyeon.
1 thing that why Jessica sometimes lip sync more than taeyeon, that her health is not as good as taeng. Her anemic are holding her up to sing live especially when she hit the high note

jessica has a wide range and can hit the notes but i think she struggles to make it strong like taeyeon does. and honestly jessica probably did struggle in her years with snsd with people constantly comparing her with taeyeon. people noticed taeyeon but not jessica a lot. although sica had her image and she preferred to stay low, imagine how she felt having to be a main vocal but her lines dwindle to little as snsd grew more popular. i think it was hard for her bc her vouce was gentle and sweet which sounds great in ballads or their debut songs but as years past, ppl began to like stronger vocals like tae and tiff (even tho tiff doesnt have a wide range).

What happened was she had ordinary weight like the rest of us. Had a deep and very soulful voice, very mature voice. Then she lost weight in weeks into a stick body, got a very different range as a job. And through her career in snsd, she gets to sing in a very high range, because that's better for hits. All I can see is that she only doing what she is told. And at the same time she had to have a great relationship with all the girls, who only seemed to underestimate the way she is handling things, because she is supposed to be "the best". Like who can she ask for help to? she just wants to do a good job, but she wasn't guided. Maybe that's the issue in snsd, everyone has to find their spot. Because there's only 9 unique spots, and everyone had to be magnificent. She had worked very hard, in snsd. She has done her best to fill in all the expectations. What would've happened if she had taken the same path as taeyeon, like don't care about her looks, and her weight, just skinny enough to sing greatly and look good at the same time? What if tae and Jessica was teammates and not rivals? It's not fair that Tiffany is seen as the real "American", Jessica had just as big American factor as Tiffany.
