    I just don’t understand how Jessica was made to be the villain in this ordeal. She was absolutely betrayed by SM and her members. She dedicated 14 years of her life to the group, she was such an integral member (literally had the second most amount of lines for 14 years straight, whether she was a member or not) and yet she was abruptly removed, slandered and blacklisted in the industry. All this for what? Pursuing a solo career outside snsd (be it for fashion or music) and not focusing enough on the group? Something every single member was already doing or about to do? Mind you snsd were nowhere near as active post 9/30 as they were pre 9/30 so Jessica’s removal was wholly unnecessary based on the reasons that were provided.
    To this day the current members can happily go about their individual careers and lives with the snsd legacy alongside them, but Jessica cannot. She deserves to be able to bear the fruits of her labour, not to be treated as a pariah. It’s been almost 10 years and yet they still won’t stop. The recent congratulatory post for the Mr Mr music video reaching 100 million views being proof of this: cutting out Jessica’s face even though she was a member at the time and is the crux of the chorus. I’m so proud of Jessica’s achievements as a solo artist despite being blacklisted in SK but I still can’t get over the fact that she was wronged on every level.

      @@Likelyfairy it almost feels like the company and members know it was a dumb and hasty decision (because like you said: her endeavours are so normalized now for other idols), but to save face - the narrative that Jessica was a problem is much easier for the company/groups image and much easier for current fans to digest. Because god forbid the other members be painted in a negative light, regardless of how Jessica was thrown to the wolves. Anyone with common sense and the ability to see how active the group was post 2015 can see that there was no need to remove Jessica for “not focusing enough on group activities” as there were barely any releases/shows after her removal.

    I’m so tired of people spreading lies about Jessica’s books and didn’t even read them! I just finished Shine and bright and she was def neutral about her and her members. There was miscommunication on both ends for sure and unfortunately led to her being kicked out. I feel so bad for Jessica and hope one day the truth comes out and people will give her a break, she doesn’t deserve that backlash especially after 10 YEARS. These OT8 stans act like 12 year olds when I’m pretty sure most are 20+ yrs old or new fans. The immaturity is insanee with these “sones” like grow tf up! Also to ppl saying it’s like a teen writing the book like a wattpad writer, I think she’s writing it based on her age during the time of her book, she was only 16-21 yrs old (correct me if I’m wrong) and I think it’s written on her POV at those eras in her life. Without a doubt she’s probably still living in her teen years since her childhood was taken since 11 as a trainee having to act professional all the time.

    • @starrygoldensky

      i did hear that antis tried to use the clubbing controversy against the group or taeyeon and yoona. yoona was even asked about it at an event in 2014 but she stayed silent... but again, not jessica's fault. however, as you said, it was debunked and for the most part, people moved on from it until her removal from the group happened and then people began to speculate that it was her then the koreaboo article in 2015 only stirred things back up.
      regardless, there's no one to blame but the media and i find it ridiculous that people try to use this controversy as some kind of "gotcha!" moment when it was clarified.

    Jessica's removal affected her in two ways, professionally and personally . The decision to remove her was caused by the members complaints/concerns to management when Jessica refused OT8 direct ultimatum. Management then sided with OT8 instigating her removal. The thing which is disappointing is the blacklisting Jessica faced for explaining directly her removal.
    The lack of support from the members was awful. Professionally they isolated her. They ended her main job which was being a member of SNSD. In a blink of an eye , what Jessica had planned for the next three years following her contract extension disappeared. From SNSD, duo album with Krystal and her tv show, but most of all she was denied the use of the SNSD name to enhance her individual activities as the other members have done.
    Personally I believe there is no relationship between Jessica and any of the members. The day Jessica was told she was no longer a member , was the day the trust between her and members was completely broken. In the past ten years I find it slightly distasteful when the OT8 talk about their sisterhood, supporting each unconditionally and they are not jealous of each other and only wish each other success. It seems to be a theme in their interviews when talking about SNSD. They constantly seem to feel the need to remind people so to mask the fact they did the opposite for Jessica .

    • @cherrywineluxe
      @cherrywineluxe Месяц назад +7

      snsd are not the epitome of sisterhood in the slightest, they gladly chose to kick jessica out, not caring how jessica felt and how she never wanted to leave, they were all fine with solo activities until jessica was getting more successful, they're co-workers or just friends, but not sisters

    This video made me cry SO FREAKING MUCH.
    Uhm, firstly because I have been following GIRLS GENERATION since 2010 and it was part of my childhood and teenage years. Jessica was always my ultimate bias in the group, and I really missed her in the years when she was extremely and strictly hurt, judged by the fandom.
    And for me it becomes even more personal because I have been living the most sensitive phase of my life for 2 years. I'm completely vulnerable and sick, i feel like at any moment the floor is going to give way and I'm going to collapse into tears. The friendships I had, unfortunately disappeared, and I never stopped being a person who wished the best things to others and who, whenever possible, supported them. I know how Jessica feels when it comes to being alone, even though she has a sister, a family, she also feels loneliness and even though today she has a great shell to bear everything, it must be painful to endure so much hate and so much loneliness.

    Jessica's decision to have a fashion business is actually smart, a K-pop idol's career DOES NOT last, they venture into other things like acting, solo singing or businesses. Why is it other idols like Seungri or G-Dragon can have their own business or fashion line but Jessica could not. Her removal is an example of miscommunication, hurts so much how it ended. Her thinking "should I leave SNSD?" is pretty normal like I'm sure majority of the members thought that way in times of hardship but at the end of the day, its a THOUGHT. She did not deserve to get kicked out and blacklisted in Korean music. She was an unbelievable good singer and popular member, this is SM's and Girls' Generation's biggest mistake

Like many others have said, it’s great to know that there are still people out here who will continuously fight for Jessica’s innocence and keep her relevant even all these years later. I’m sure Jessica appreciates it too given all she’s gone through. SM is notorious for favoring money over the actual human beings who have dedicated their lives to them, and unfortunately Jessica isn’t the first nor will she be the last to go through this. I wish I could personally tell her how proud we are of her that despite all the hurdles that have come her way, she’s still standing strong and living her dream (which is so admirable because it’s the same dream that has cost her so much mentally, physically, and financially). As much as SM or the other members of SNSD try to erase her from their history, it’s people like you who rightfully remind us why she was so popular in the first place and her legacy and achievements will never be forgotten. @@Likelyfairy It shocks me how easy it is for the big companies to blacklist someone. I think it is about flexing their power. If someone has done something really bad, like scandalous, there is no need to blacklist because other companies will not want to take the risk of association with that person. On the other hand, if someone does something that threatens the power of the big companies in the industry, then the big conpanies will blacklist to punish them and discourage anyone else from doing anything similar. It’s like the big companies have formed their own union, except that they are the bosses not the workers. So someone like Jessica, who is strong in many things, independent, has her own business outside the industry, writes novels, all those things - someone like her is showing the possibilities of power and independence for K-pop artists. And this threatens the basic exploitation business model of the big companies, who do not want the artists to have much leverage.

What Jessica went through is not comparable to the struggles of the other girls, of course they suffered, but it didn't have the same disastrous output as Jessica, she have no one to rely on, not the company or the girls, unlike OT8. Bfr. If you want to be completely objective you have to make each side accountable. But one thing that is really clear is that Jessica's removal accelerated SNSD's downfall, all that exists is thanks to the legacy Jessica helped to establish along with the other members in their golden years.

I still stand SNSD as whole but also individually thus don't have any hate towards the members. They were previously bound by their contracts with SM to maintain their silence but since some of them are no longer under contract, they can now speak up and tell the truth. They can even hang out with Jessica and post whatever photos taken with her on their social media. I don't see any of them doing any of that. I have to wonder why.

      Simple, they don't talk about Jessica because it is in their interest and the group's interest not to. If a member talks directly about Jessica, this will lead to uncomfortable questions being asked about her removal/relationship and force other members to speak. Secondly by not explaining Jessica's removal there won't be discrepancies in the groups involvement in Jessica's removal. SM released an offical statement, if they say something contraire ,it will make SM look bad. Thirdly the smear campaign by SM and sones has allowed SNSD to win the PR battle so there no need for them to talk. At the end of the day the 8 remaining members individual and group career's has continued without road blocks even after Jessica's removal.

    Real talk, give me a quick tldr of why Jessica got kicked out of the group. You seem to be a huge fan of hers so you'd know more than me who stayed a GG fan throughout the years. Our narrative we had at the time was that Taeyeon didn't like her, so she and her clique within GG kicked Jess out. Not sure if that's true or not but I also never read Jess's books. And although I stayed a Krystal fan after F(x) went on indefinite hiatus she never talked about her sister's departure that much either.

    • @starrygoldensky
      @starrygoldensky  9 месяцев назад +9

      it's kind of hard to give a tldr because i type a lot and it's not really a situation where everything can be covered in a short summary but i always refer to jessica's official statement on the matter, to summarize her official statement:
      she got removed from the group because a month after the launch of her brand, the members had a change of heart about her having a brand and being a girls' generation member.
      in september, the members gave her an ultimatum to either quit her business or leave the group. she told the members that she wouldn't choose because she wanted to do both and that the ultimatum was unfair, nor could she back out of her business due to finalizing contracts/commitments with business partners. jessica also went on to explain that her brand didn't interfere with girls' generation's activities.
      she also stated that she approached sm entertainment on september 15, 2014 for clarification about the ultimatum the members presented to her and sm entertainment gave her permission, for a second time, to continue on with her business activities.
      however, on september 29, 2014, jessica was given a notice by sm entertainment and the members informing her that she was no longer a member of the group and she was left out of all further group activities which is why she was absent from the shenzhen fanmeeting on september 30, 2014.
      jessica's official statement: www.soompi.com/article/656559wpp/jessica-issues-public-statement-following-girls-generation-departure
      jessica never singled out any specific member(s) for her removal, she consistently mentioned "eight others" or "eight members" when speaking about her removal from the group in her weibo post and her official statement.

    • @eonfluxparadox
      @eonfluxparadox 9 месяцев назад +5

      @@starrygoldensky Gotcha thank you. So weird that we never really got a reason for it. Or why that ultimatum was given, or whether all members even agreed with the ultimatum. There's just so many holes in the reasoning that we'll probably never know the real reason unless the GG members talk about it. Because truth be told, I don't even think Jess knows the real reason she was kicked out. If SM gave her permission, it made no sense to kick her out later from a business standpoint either. Losing a popular member for what? All you'd do is lose money. Her business didn't interfere with her schedule, she wanted to continue, it's all very sus and hush hush.

    • @starrygoldensky
      @starrygoldensky  9 месяцев назад +10

      @@eonfluxparadox jessica had everything to lose by posting on her weibo and by countering sm's statement with her own statement. she said all eight so i believe her when said all eight. it was a situation that involved her directly and firsthand so i think she would know better than we would. the ultimatum was supposedly given because they felt that she was prioritizing her business over girls' generation activities which is why they told her to either quit her business or leave the group. she told them that it was unfair for them to make her choose because she wanted to do both and that her brand/business activities didn't interfere with group activities. also, she couldn't just break contracts with business partners after finalizing them.
      i, personally, think that there was no justifiable for her removal, as she said herself. i think her removal was done based on emotions and personal feelings rather than wanting her out for a professional and justifiable reason.
      basically, the members didn't want to work with her anymore and sm chose what was more profitable, eight members versus one, regardless of who was in the right or wrong.
      i'd be interested in hearing what the members have to say about it, if they ever do choose to speak about it, but so far the nine year silence has been beneficial for them.

    • @eonfluxparadox
      @eonfluxparadox 9 месяцев назад +7

      @@starrygoldensky I would also be interested in hearing what our girls have to say about it but I doubt they'll ever talk about it because tbh they probably didn't have a good reason to kick her out. And to tell everyone that they basically just wanted her to be all or nothing would look awful. As the saying goes, if you have nothing good to say then it's better to say nothing at all. I've often wondered how Jess and the rest didn't get along, when some of them were so openly close to each other. Either way just based on how Krystal has never worked with or talked about any of the GG members even in her acting career goes to show that there's probably not any good blood between them. GG members always talk about every other group except for F(x) and openly avoid mentioning Jessica or Krystal. Going on an entire decade of silence.

    I think the real problem is some people dislike Jessica for keep bringing up girls generations, and how by writing the book, she is saying that the other members of the group forced her to pick between designing or being in girls generation. this is clearly not the case, as what is shown in the video, because all other members were aware that Jessica was going to launch her brand and everyone will focus more on solo activities. and of course Jessica claims this book is pure friction. Meanwhile, the 8 members have never said anything about Jessica's departure and I am sure they are not allowed to say anything anyway, so they have to take it, whatever others accused them of doing. and this is slightly unfair. at the end of the day, no one in the public knows for sure what happened, and most likely its a corporate thing, not the first time SM treated their singers poorly and it was evidenced that Jessica was not allowed to participate in any music shows in Korea to promote her songs after being removed from the group, and luckily she is American so she could continue her career in China, where Koreans are banned due to America deploying the THAAD missile system in Korea. some fans also complained that Jessica spent more effort in her brand and designing than with SNSD, they say that she would return to Korea from USA like a day before some major event...i dont know, so there are other complains apart from those included in the video. And i understand where people are coming from, they probably support the group or have their own bias, SNSD is very successful because everyone of the member sacrificed individual fame for the sake of the group, and clearly Jessica was always a top 3 in popularity, with Taeyeon and Yoona. so I can understand why so fans might be not happy even with high popularity and resources, Jessica "seems" to get more freedom for individual things while others dont. Yoona has been extremely popular, but she has always gotten very few lines, her one line in "Oh!" is classic. But thats the sacrifice they will willing to accept in order to shine as a group. Sunny also clearly puts the group at number 1, and low key doing a lot of hard lifting, also see that a lot in the 2015 soshi variety show.
    I am writing a lot not because I dislike Jessica like some other fans, I love her and I just feel incredible sad and empty that she is not part of the group anymore. I respect and appreciate Jessica that she wants to do something different, but at the same time I also appreciate the rest of the members continue to keep SNSD together and forever, despite their busy schedules. Recently when MrMr reached 100M, and offical GG instagram posted a post with the 8 members but didn't include Jessica, I was really upset and annoyed. So as many TV shows or interview where they somehow have to find old songs footage and make sure Jessica is not in the frame. This is awful, the fact that the entire korean industry is afraid of showing current SNSD together with Jessica means that the whole thing is much bigger than what we fans can imagine. It is out of the control of the members or Jessica, behind the scene there is an invisible hand controlling everything.
    As i said jessica is one of the most popular members in SNSD (everyone is very popular tho), I cant imagine the success SNSD would continue to have if 930 never happened, and 9 members returned for forever1 last year. But sometimes the world is not perfect, and majority of the people around can only accept things, instead of controlling things. I hope that the hardcore fans of current SNSD or Jessica can accept this fact and stop attacking each other. And I am waiting for the day where 9 members will reunite together. everything is possible, just like how SNSD rose when no one believed that girl groups could achieve the same results male groups can back then...and SM is apparently in a huge mess now.

    Im still annoyed when new fans especially the fans that are stanning them from the very beginning painting Taeyeon as the mastermind/villain as if she have a complete full authority to kick out a member, at the end of the day even she's the leader of SNSD she's still an employee of SM and had to follow orders.
    We will never know if we can ever hear the other side of the story, the 8 members side of the story. Maybe SM made them signed a NDA contract to never speak on what really happen about 9/30 and made them act as if Jessica doesn't exist from their past discograpies. This is a tragic story for both fans and the 9 girls which SM made them to go behind their backs, pitted them to each other and completely tarnished their reputation for their greedy agendas. it's not fair at all for anyone to be painted as a villain or singled out when jessica said "eight others" and "eight members" in her weibo post and official statement. so, it's unfortunate that the whole "_______ masterminded jessica's removal" narrative was created and people ran with it because of the awkwardness between the two but it also goes beyond the fandom and people enjoy bandwagon hating. also, the whole voting rumor actually originated from sones, c-sones to be exact, they wrote about it on a forum called baidu tieba. there's a very popular video on here about jessica's removal and the creator of the video pointed out where the voting rumor stemmed from and it stemmed from their own fandom.
      jessica was also a sm employee and a member of the group, the situation involved her first-hand, and she explicitly stated that the company gave her permission to do girls' generation activities and continue on with her brand, not only once but twice. she got permission for a second time after approaching sm entertainment for clarification in regards to the ultimatum the members presented to her - sm deserves their fair share of blame but i'm going to believe jessica about the members' involvement in her removal because if she lied about it in anyway, she would have gotten sued and she was never sued nor did sm entertainment ever refute her weibo post or official statement. so, by the members being involved in her removal, she directly said that all eight did have the authority to voice their opinions in regards to her removal and the members mentioned on a 2009 episode of radio star that the members' opinions take prioritization in regards to the group.
      jessica's removal is not just a jessica vs sm entertainment situation as people want to believe it to be or wish for it to be. it's saddening to think that the people jessica toiled alongside to build the group's legacy were involved in her removal but that's something that people need to come to terms with.
      i would be interested in hearing the members' side if they ever decide to speak up but i fully believe jessica, considering that they've been silent for nine years, regardless of if a nda is in place or not, because jessica's side of the story is substantiated and corroborated and sm entertainment had to rely on a smear campaign to tarnish her image and reputation so the general public would stop questioning what happened and they bought into it, it also doesn't help that the sone fandom aided in tarnishing jessica's image and reputation either.
      i mean, at the end of the day, people will choose to believe what they want but i believe it's a huge disservice to jessica to overlook what she's said about a situation that personally involved her.

      if what Jessica said about snsd were wrong, sm would have been denied it right away and also forced other 8 to speak out loud how evil was Jessica to justified why other8 want her out of snsd already.

    I am actually shocked to learn that so many Sones have villainized her. I suppose I thought everyone felt the same way I did in being hurt by what happened on Jessica's behalf but not having ill-will towards Jessica OR the remaining 8 girls. No one on the outside really knows why or how it happened and I take into account that SM is a powerful company that none of the girls could stand up to if they really wanted to. It's complicated and it's not black and white and we don't truly know how the girls feel because of the NDA and blackballing SM has done.
    I still dream of a timeline where none of it happened and they are still OT9 but I know it is foolish to think I can change history, and I understand that the girls have moved on and they all deserve happiness and success. I don't know them personally even if I have known them for 13 years now, but they are all real humans with thoughts and feelings that I have no business knowing. But life goes on. I just feel sad that it went down the way it did, or that it ever happened at all.
    HOWEVER, I am glad Jessica is continuing to sing and reaching out into China where she has a big fanbase because she couldn't get anywhere in Korea, sadly. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and clearing up the misinformation.

      obviously, sm was not the one wanted Jessica out from the beginning...SM just pick 8 over 1 to protect SNSD brand name to reduce further lost...u say like sm wanted her out and ot8 chose not to stand up but ot8 were the one proposed to remove Jessica otherwise they won't attend group activities...

    is jessica still friend with all snsd members? Or enemies...

      because that question has nothing to do with debunking the lies told about her.
      according to jessica's billboard interview, she hasn't seen them in several years. this interview was on may 17, 2016.
      "It’s been almost ten years since you debuted as a member of Girls’ Generation. How do you feel about your past, present and future?
      I’ll always cherish my time as a member of Girls’ Generation. I haven’t seen them in several years but I really wish them the best."

    If SM Entertainment wasn't itself against her starting the fashion brand, who was? Someone else without the SNSD group? Is there any speculation on what reasons there could be? I mean, this seems like the elephant in the room that is not being discussed or?

      SM probably wanted to get revenues from, it or manage if financially and she refused.
      Look at EXO CBX this year, they have zero effing idea of how they are being paid. They don't see the color of the money they make, you're paid X, no explanations. I guess just asking for transparency is making SM sweat. Idols may realise they are worth more than what they are paid. But SM can blacklist you if you don't comply.
