you prolly dont care but if you are stoned like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf for the last few weeks =)
thank you, I played this song million time on shows and never really did the right thing...thank so much !!! will do it right next time because of you !!!
Awesome breakdown of the phrasing in this and the next lesson. That last part of solo 2 was killing me just cause I couldn't get the phrasing right and it was too long for me to remember! Thanks man!
Awesome 👏🏻 job on one of the most iconic solos ever. Your lessons are so well planned and easy to follow and you nailed it, sounds perfect to my ear. Thanks for your great videos and keep rockin’ 🤘🏼🙌🏼👍🏼🎸🔊
Amazing lesson! You very accurately transcribed all parts :) One thing I would like to see is how to connect all the pieces in a slow tempo, so I can get a grasp for the timing between the licks. Besides that perfect job!
JAMES SCOTT NICHOLSON, ONTARIO, CANADA 🇨🇦 I ALWAYS HAD THE FIRST SOLO, BUT TODAY IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE LOOKED AT THE SECOND SOLO.I HAVE CHECKED ABOUT 10 DIFFERENT TUTORIALS ON THIS. EVERY OTHER ONE WAS CONFUSING,OR ABSOLUTELY WRONG AND YOU CAN HERE IT RIGHT AWAY,ESPECIALLY IF YOUR 50 LIKE MYSELF AND HAVE HEARD IT 10 THOUSAND TIMES.GOOD TO SEE THE REAL THING AND STRAIGHT TO THE POINT!!! SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS,THEY STICK ON.
You and I are the same age (well, I'll be 50 this year). The bad tabs and wrong playing drove me mad for years too. I finally said "enough is enough" and I'm going to get it down right. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it! :)
It's about time someone gets solo 2 right! I tried to watch the lesson from GuitarLesson365 guy but it's so bad. Wrong notes and feel. Anyways thank you!!!!!!
Hey Pdx, I am a teenager and thanks to your amazing lessons I'm able to play solos like beat it and push comes to shove. You rock and keep the van halen coming!!
@@PDXguitarfreak That's awesome to hear, I enjoy all your solo lessons. I dont know if you plan on teaching it but I can't find a solo lesson for lonely nights by white lion on RUclips just an idea of a solo I'd really like to learn. Either way rock on \m/
Your lessons are always great and your playing is awesome!! Joe Perry’s phrasing is unique and quirky in the best way possible and very hard to replicate but I think you nailed it!!
That second solo sums up Joe Perry. There is a part from you’re in trouble by Warren d where he takes ideas from that second solo. He also says he’s a huge Joe fan
You've spent you time. Might be the best I've heard anyone break it down. Your attention to details like the bends is great. One criticism. I really wish you had then put them together at the end in at least half speed and then at tempo maybe 3 speeds. I know you do them at tempo in the beginning but you should consider doing it again at the end once the viewer has had a chance to learn it.
Thank you so much! It is great how you can maintain the same rhythm and phrasing even when you slow down the parts. Maybe more comments about the rhythm might be also helpful. But as is is perfect for me. Thanks again! One more subtlety I am challenged with is the placement of upstrokes or downstrokes for certain passages I encounter studying electric guitar. Do you know of any comprehensive study system that focuses on just that.. with examples of most of the challenging situations you can end up in? Thank you again (and again)
Hold up. I'm commenting before I even got to the lesson. Your cover of the solos freaking blew my mind. Such clean playing. Great stuff. Now to copy you! haha
Great lesson! It’s funny- that note in the first solo that you highlighted in Red that everyone plays pretty much one of 2 ways- To my ear it’s always sounded like he’s either playing a dead note or nothing at all but I’ve never seen anyone else tab it that way.
First, love your channel and THANKS for sharing your immense talent. I’d thought since you’re on the subject of Aerosmith, I could make this song request: Aerosmith, Night in The Ruts, track 2: Chiquita I think that would be great material for you to don the wig, get in the studio and tear it up! Tune was made for you! As you know I’m still patiently waiting the Don Felder Taking a Ride/Heavy Metal tune. Again, many thanks for the great channel!!!
Hey Mike! Thanks as always for watching, and of course the requests LOL :) Interesting choice with Chiquitqa - I had actually never heard that one (I own all the 70s stuff except that album). :)
@@lgmnowkondo938 I'm not sure, but maybe you are thinking of the prior album Get Your Wings? That one supposedly had Steven Hunter playing on Train Kept A Rollin, and Dick Wagner also playing on that track plus Same Old Song and Dance.
I find it easier to catch the first 4 notes of the first part of the second solo with my index finger. 5th fret G string, 5th fret B, slide to the 4th, then the 5th fret of the high E. It's a cool little move that's simple blues move that sounds really great. Give it a try. It's much easier than the other two ways. Well I forgot to that there were two E notes on the 5th fret to begin the lick. But I'm sure you would have figured out what I meant. Doing this way your never really out of the Pentatonic box, or a stretch.
I have been absorbing your videos for a good while now, but this song is giving me a very hard time..lol..it seems like the tab is not carrying the riff through completely..I am okay with being wrong about it though, Joe Perry has always been one of my favorite players. On a cheerier front, we use the same way of playing that second riff with the pinky finger on the 8th fret!
Great vid as per :) just a question, do you know what JP plays at the start of the 2nd solo leading into the descending 8-7-5 on the G string when he plays it live? I know it’s slightly different but STs vocal always obscures that bit and I can never really get it.
Here is the link to my lesson for the outro solo: ruclips.net/video/12jZ_H0fJrI/видео.html

Excellent tutorial. Love the way you explain fingerings and different ways to go about the solo. Thank you for the video!
With matching T-shirts, no less! Thanks... looking forward to this one
LOL yeah but I forgot during the lesson part to change shirts to make each guitar. Oh well :)
merci pour la Lesson
very very nicely done. You would appear to have nailed these most excellently. Really good

Great lesson mate. I play some of that second solo by the nut. Just my preference.
how in the world do these guys come up with these tasty licks in the first place? THis really is a simple but great solo...both of them!
I have to think they improvised a lot in the studio. That's where the magic usually happens, right? :)
