How To STOP Green Cheek Conure Biting and Make Them Listen To You
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 ноя 2024
- Hey birbsquad! This video is how to stop green cheek conures from biting and also how to get them to listen to you. Green Cheek Conures are very ornery and clown like by nature so it is very important to take the biting seriously and stop it for good.
In this video, I'm going to explain the different phases that green cheek conures go through, how to stop certain biting, when its acceptable, and overall how to get your green cheek to listen to you.
I hope that you find this video helpful. My goal is for you to coexist happily with your bird so they are not rehomed or living in an unhappy situation. You deserve to be happy as well as your green cheek conure.
So let me know in the comments if this helps, what tactics you would use with your own green cheek conure, and whats the biggest advice you would give someone that has a green cheek conure. Thank you birbs so much and hope you have a birbtastic week :)

Great video Victoria!!
❤❤❤
Thank you Renee you're the best!!!!!!!!!!!
I count 2 lol
I'm seeing three lmao
Victoria Ryann hello I was trying to find a way to contact you but I could not. So I’m going to try to reach you through this comment. Hello I’ve been struggling with my rainbow lorikeet for awhile. He’s 3 and is super aggressive and territorial. He used to be my everything and so sweet. Now he keeps biting me and my whole hand is chew up. May u please contact me soon and help me? Thank you so much. I just can’t deal with him anymore and I really don’t want to re home him.
Im getting a green cheak conure and your videos are really helpful on learning about how to trust and disiplen birds
Yayyy I'm so excited for you!! Do you know what color mutation of the green cheek you're wanting to get? Thank you for the compliments I'm glad I can help :) keep me updated on your future birdy!!!
@@VictoriaRyann
Sure ill keep you tracked on my birdie and for the color mutaion ive been eyeing the green black blue and gray variants
Discipline is really pointless for birds, you have to focus and reward tge positive. They'll learn the negative doesn't get attention.
Alicia Pearson well if you don’t give the bad behavior attention such as training him not to do it is a good thing, my first time that I’ve had experience with a bird/parrot was when I was 3 and also it grew up to when i was old enough to understand if you’re gonna say 3 year old don’t really understand stuff lol so I know what I’m talking about lol
@@apearson79 I disagree.
My moms GCC bites then says OW -__-
@ Foxi Toxi that’s what my baby nephew used to do 😂
😂😂😂👌
Your gratitude is so authentic and refreshing. I’m laying in bed with my husband, son, and our nippy, new conure(also named Yoshi) in the cage next to us.
I was feeling defeated and now I’m feeling empowered to keep working with Yoshi.
I’m grateful that you have shared your expertise so we can form a better bond with our bird.
Thank you!
Oh my gosh - this is EXACTLY what I needed! I have a 12 week old hand fed Alexandrine who weaned right before he came home with me. He is wonderful EXCEPT he is finger aggressive! To the point I think I’ve focused training and him being a perfect bird more than on that than bonding. This is exactly what I needed to learn and understand. Thank You. I will use a stern “no we don’t do that.” And focus more on bonding. Thank You
Loved this video. That’s sweet of Glenn to mention you, Awww. I love when the pet community supports each other. Kiss your birbs for me 💗
Yep, agreed
Thank you Lori that is super sweet of you! I will be sure to do that thank you again :)
I've noticed my conure's biting has reduced considerably by me simply touching him less. Like letting him be more independent and not assume he wants to be touched. He's a big boy now and doesn't need mom to be constantly all over him 😂
Two weeks into getting my green cheek, he's started to interact with me but literally today he started to nip to the point of pain. So I immediately went to your video because a previous one helped me with bonding. Now, I'm ignoring him as he tries to get my attention. Thank you so much for your help.
Yes! Me too my green checked all of a sudden he just started to nip me I was very confused
@@worsethanstarker7306 is it still happening
Thank you for this! I've started being more strict with my parrot and he has been getting a lot better. He is around 1 and a half.
Thank you for this comment!! Sometimes they need a little discipline and some boundaries but they are great companions :) Best of luck to you and your birdy!!!
Hi, I recently adopted a Conure. It sits on my shoulder wants to be with me interacts. But it hates my skin if I have a t-shirt on it really bites my skin, arms, hands, legs ...
Chris Long
My conure likes to nibble on my shirts. And sometimes my cheek. But Skittles is a good birb
Same here
Heyy, does the bird stil bite? I have a conure too but he bites Hard, soow I want it too stop. X
Mine nibbles on my hands..it likes the squishy feeling! I say get it a rubber toy that feels a bit like skin. To help wean it from nibbles
@@eelkostroek2496 It's very hard training conures. I got mine to reduce biting by saying "ok ok ok ok" like I'm in pain and saying "No bite" and bopping on his beak with my finger and walking away. Give him something else to chew on like chew toys or newspaper made caves. He may also be biting as a way to communicate what he doesn't want you to do. Have to get a sense of its boundaries and what it likes and doesn't. Mine is 5 years old.
I’m getting a green cheek parakeet/conure in 2 days or 3 and I’m so excited! Your videos of conures help so much!
Yayyy!!!! I bet you are wanting this week to go by quick so you can get him/her lol! Super exciting and I wish you and your new birdy many long happy healthy years together :))) Thank you for the compliment Sas!
I just got a Green Cheek and i must say i had no idea what i was getting into, but i am loving it. Thank you for your videos, my bird is only 3 months old, according to your videos, its going to be fun! Thank you for the love you have for these birds and for teaching what to do to people like me.
Yes! We all have to understand they have no hands and have this sharp like can opener on their face 😂 you’re such a great teacher to me 😂😂💕💕💕
Loved the video! My daughter is dealing with an unruly turquoise now. (draws blood)
From chickens to Indian ringnecks lots of birds flock in the wild. Built in they (mostly males) have a passive trait where they are always pushing to be the alpha so that their DNA is carried forward with better mating opportunities food options etc. I found that a bird (even if it respects you as the alpha) will always naturally try to push that border. Some basic things you do can allow them to overcome your "perceived status" in the flock. The respect will be pushed and sometimes they need a subtle reminder that you are in charge. It's a delicate balance because, you are not a bird, and not a potential mate. But their brain tries to place you into a category:
From a male birds perspective:
Threat because fear (of injury/life) which most wild birds categorize us as
Threat because alpha (Flock mate with respect)
Non-threat because they consider you lower on the flock pecking order (beta)
Non-threat because mate (beta female)
Unfortunately male and female birds do not know how to define your sex and will try to read from other queues.
When petting, stay away from their middle to lower back.
Often times the alpha in a flock will help guide them to food/drink. That is why treats work as an incentive. It's one of the most powerful tools you have, second to that being patience and trying to think about the birds perspective when handling. Imagine a giant 1000lb hand reaching down to grab you and pushing your head around smashing their finger into your face. Being VERY gentle once you've gained basic trust will help build trust faster. When they realize you are gentle, they are more willing to work with you. After this stage you can work from the pecking order psychology much easier as you will be "accepted" into their flock.
My predicament now is inconsistency.
Inconsistency makes training nearly impossible (especially potty related.) My kids always wanted to hold my bird and they wouldn't listen to him when he let them know he had to go and so he eventually stopped giving queues. I also caught them chasing him once he fell off their shoulder. So he no longer waits to poop, and also bites pretty bad as he perceives fingers as a potential threat (fear) Going through retraining now but it's rough after being invalidated. (treats are your friend) Stick to positive reinforcement most as negative can be retroactive in some cases.
You're da best Victoria, felt like this video was made just for me and my tiny flock!
Awe yay thank you!!!! Hope things are going well with your flock/fam. PS: Nic got me a Honda crf230 and taught me how to ride!!!! 😃 No broken bones yet knock on wood lol
@@VictoriaRyann kool, not to bud in but we are all birb peeps here. Love bikes
Cograts on the bike, and everything is great here. This bird is so silly, I've been getting it to hang from one leg for pine nuts, and the behavioral issues are improving as well.
Thank you!!!! I love that thing lol. Oh thats great news and hope hes being nicer to your gf :) haha green cheeks are such clowns thats hilarious. 😂
Hey Victoria! Your kind words and acknowledgement blew me away! Unnecessary, but very much appreciated:). You're a cool "chick" and treasure to the bird community! My bird, Sara (Jardine's) sends woofs and meows to Popples and Yoshi! Glenn (Parrot Pied Piper)
Thank you for everything Glenn... the bird community would be lost without ya!!! Sara is a beauty even with her identity crisis 😉😂 tell her my flock and I said hiiii!
@@VictoriaRyann We're all part of one big flock! Look forward to your next vid! Popples and Yoshi are "two" cute for words!
If you are interested in parrot training the best results that i've had was by following the Parrot ploy plan (just google it) - without a doubt the most useful treatment that I've seen.
I've 2 beautiful parrots an Amazon and a Conure.
I bought my Amazon (Sid) when he was also 3 months old and he's now 15.
I bought my conure (Emma) when she was 3 months old and she's now 10.
Emma was very tame and loving but from the time she turned 2, she started biting very hard to cause blood and would not stop!
Emma would bite our visitors and after they left she'd also bite Sid and me. She still bites but not as often and hard to cause blood any longer.
Sid is a sweetheart; he does not bite anyone and when Emma bites him, he'd walk or fly away from her but he'd never bite her!
I'll continue to try and stop Emma from biting and would NEVER give up!
Thank you, Victoria for sharing your expertise with us. Btw, your birds are lovely!
i eventually want to get a gcc and i’m currently birbsitting my moms friends gcc. he’s a good birb but he bit me yesterday to the point he broke some skin. i wish i could spent more time with him to use the techniques i’ve learned through your videos. i think having him for the time i do is a good practice for me, so i can know what to do and what to expect when i do get my own bird someday.
I have a 19 month old pineapple green cheek conure & overall she's a good girl. In the first few months she was very nippy but I started stroking her beak & calmly saying No whenever she did something wrong & she does stop the bad behavior. My big problem is that she's my Velcro bird. I can't get her off me & also, since I've had her (have had her since she was 2 1/2 months old), she is literally afraid of EVERYTHING! Afraid of life! And I don't know why. I used to breed birds & have never seen a bird so afraid of every little thing! I just subscribed to your channel &'from the few videos I've seen so far I absolutely love & are very informative. I'm gonna have to do a marathon watch on your videos soon to catch up! 😊💚💜💙
I want to thank you for your great advice. On Easter Sunday my cute little cuddle bug conure suddenly started becoming VERY aggressive. Over the past two weeks I have been almost afraid to interact with him at all because he never gave me a break and was constantly attacking me. Last night I watched your video about holding the side of his beak and being firm with him when he attacked. I was afraid to try it because I knew I was inviting even more bites in the attempt to stop him. I was so surprised though. This morning when he went to bite I followed your advice and he completely backed down. In fact, tonight he is back to his cuddly self, with only a couple of half-hearted bite attempts after that initial one, I think just to test me. I have my bird back! Thank you! I will definitely tell other bird "parents" about your videos.
Birb. Bundy. I'm dead
Hes real, hes sleeping in his cage rn
Thank you, when I first got my turquoise conure he wouldn’t stop biting but since I’ve watched this video and followed the steps he hasn’t bitten me since (: 💕
Awe yay thats great news!!! Turquoises are so beautiful. I'm glad this helped. Best of luck to you and your birdy :)))
Victoria Ryann awww thank you 💕
Hiya! I have been trying to get the know the price of a Turquoise I sti have a long way to go until I get one but I have been saving up money and I want to know how much I need to save could you tell me please?
I absolutely love your videos.. my 1yr old green cheek is being pretty aggressive the last month. Flying at me to bit, tried to fly off with my lip also.. thanks for this video 💯
Same my conure follows me just to bite me
Good video! I have a yellow sided GCC too :) He is almost 1 year old. me and my fiance joke that sometimes its "scritches or stitches" lol Sometimes my little Amigo just gets too excited and playful, puffs up, and starts getting really nippy! What I do is just take down the energy level and calm him down, I never scold or discipline him. I just say "calm bird" in almost a whisper voice and use some bird jedi mind tricks lol to calm him down!
Those of us with the yellow sided gccs are the best am I right? 😉 Haha that's so cool though!! Oh we are definitely team scritches over here lol I love the name amigo for a birdy that is so cute and sounds like the name suits him. I really like your methods and sounds like you know your bird and what works for him. I love the Jedi mind tricks 😂😂 whatever works right?!!!
@@VictoriaRyann So very true on all accounts! 😊💞🐦
I have a pineapple conure and it kept biting my hands when i try to stroke it.i hope this advice works!!!!
It's very hard training conures. I got mine to reduce biting by saying "ok ok ok ok" like I'm in pain and saying "No bite" and bopping on his beak with my finger and walking away. Don't give him attention when he bites. Give him something else to chew on like chew toys or newspaper made caves. He may also be biting as a way to communicate what he doesn't want you to do. Have to get a sense of its boundaries and what it likes and doesn't. Mine is 5 years old.
@@UnsaltedCashew38 mine are nearly one, my baby brother tease them so they just gi full agro mode. basically ruined my training 😕
@@Reflecterr It takes a long time to build their trust, mine won't let ne pet him anymore, its been almost a year. He immediately bites if my fingers get close without food in my hand.
@@UnsaltedCashew38 yeah i have two, my regular gcc doesnt really liketo be pet, but it allows me sometimes
I have a green cheek conure. His name is Peluso. HE BITES A LOT!!!! Ty for dis now peluso won't bit me anymore. TYSM!!♥️
Great video! I have a very aggressive gcc. He's a rehome, he's almost 2 and I've had him for 7 months. No idea what he's been through with previous owner. To the point that I had his wings clipped cause he would fly and bite me in the face. Alway breaking skin and making me bleed. He seems very happy if you let him be. He's out of cage most of the day. Variety of food diet, sleeps 12 hours. But if we try to interact with him he bites. My question is how do you go about holding the beak technique without getting bit?!
Mine is the same rehomed an is 2 an is very aggressive an then he is a really sweet bird two personalities in one. Would love to know how to stop it.
Hey there! I just thought I'd give you some advice on clipping, I know it may help but may I suggest you find another way? Clipping a birds wings can cause muscle atrophy (if that's what it's called) and can cause physical problems, no hate, just thought I'd let you know instead of being mean about it! Xx good luck with your conure:))
Sit next to his cage daily and talk to him, try to pet him through his cage only. Try to build trust, give him treats when he gets close to you without biting. It takes a while to tame conures, I got mine from another owner and he was hostile for 3-4 months. Took almost 2 years before he would sit on my finger.

iv'e watched a few of your videos and it's very helpful!!
I’m so glad I found you on a search...my mom and I just bought a 3 month green cheek from PetCo about 3 weeks ago. I know that’s a huge no no but we couldn’t help it luckily he/she wasn’t there long. You’re videos have been so helpful so far I can’t wait to learn more from you!!!
Wait why is it a big no to get them from Petco??
@@makeanaveragemanrich1284 - I don’t want to start a war, but buying a bird from a pet store chain have usually been bred at a breeding mill, not hand-fed, and not used to people. It’s a little harder to tame a pet store bird, but I’ve had luck with re-homed birds, so it just takes a lot/little more patience. They will be a little more skittish, as they’re not used to be around humans.
Now, that said, for a while I remember people buying up PetStore birds as a way to rescue them, but what they don’t realize is that the PetStore will just re-stock with another bird, and so it goes. I had a friend who ‘rescued’ every bird she saw in a PetStore, when it would be more constructive to speak to the owner and express your concerns. It is a better choice to get a bird from a breeder who knows the parents and have truly handled and hand-fed the bird.
If you don’t mind the extra bit of a challenge (not much, really) then it doesn’t matter, and again, you will not stop the PetStore from selling them by boycotting them - and it won’t make a difference in their practices - you do what you want to do and don’t worry about creating a market because it’s already there.
When she said “I know its a big no-no” she’s referring to the act of birds being born in a bird mill. Nobody likes that; but they’re not going to stop.

Never think of yourself as unworthy. Society often tells us we need to be/act a certain way, this is not true. Who are they to tell us what our worth is? Be who you choose to be and do not worry about what society says. Great video.
I am 41 and been around birds of all kinds my whole life. I worked for Blair county wildlife for many years. That was years and years ago but ran the reptile and bird room's. You have a new sub here just to show u support and give u the thumbs up. I just got my new baby GCC and she's 4 months old. Her name is Ju Ju said like Jew Jew but her birthday is Feb 22 and mine is Feb 3. I was so stoked when I got the papers on her and it showed that. Pretty Kool but keep up the good work and educating people you are outstanding kiddo,so great job.
So I wanted a bird for 3 years, and I started watching your videos and expected green cheek conures to be easy to take care of... I got one about 2 months ago and the pet store said she was nippy but I expected to create a very good bond but that's not going well and she's been wanted attention one second and the next she just breaks the skin :(

Victoria really appreciate your vids , I have (inherited) a young (2yrs old) green cheeked conure , who has bonded amazingly with me, but I have an 8 yr old son who loves him but Skippy can be really aggressive towards him! Your vids are a joy and so helpful. David 🏴 x
Thank you for this video! I have a 5 month old green cheek conure who is a sweetheart almost always haha. I was told not to let him on my shoulder for the first year - He normally likes to sit in the crook of my elbow, but this week he decided to start going up on our shoulders (my husband gets really uncomfortable because he nibbles our necks!) How can we get him off our shoulders safely? He turns into this brat we don't recognize when we try what the vet did, which was guide him back down our arm with a flat hand. He "growls" and turns into Birdzilla. Help!
Allyson Briggs You should either put Your shoulder by something flat and lightly push your Green cheek off :) I’m not to sure but that’s what I do. My bird growls and starts chasing after my hand so I do that and if he doesn’t come off I’ve had my green cheek for a month and he is already almost talking because I’m making sure I say at least a few sentences every few seconds while he is around the only words he said right at this moment is “ Yes Door” and starts growling at the door of the cage. I don’t know why :)
Hi Victoria I apsolitly love your chanel but I am getting a Senegal very soon so I would like a Senegal care video please please

@@VictoriaRyann thanks! Yeah I was at a bird fair, and I was looking at a bird someone had and the girl just handed me the bird! And... I fell in love. I really wanted it, but it was $375, I might adopt one, or get one from a breeder. What would you recommend?
Oh cool!!! That is so sweet when they instantly connect with you. You may have done this already but the biggest recommendation I can make about birds from fairs or anywhere really... is find out how they care for the bird and the type of facility it was raised in. Go with your instincts if something feels shady or if the person isn't answering your questions thoroughly and giving you your peace of mind, don't do it. $375 is actually a decent price as well. I'd check out birdbreeders.com, petfinder, and if there are rescue centers in your area that you like. Unfortunately, there are shady people everywhere including breeders, rescues, and pet stores so ask tons of questions about the bird and how they care for them and if they ever give you grief about it, move on and find someone else. Do what you feel ready and comfortable with don't let anyone pressure you :)
@@VictoriaRyann Ok, thanks. I did notice they were kinda harsh while putting the birds away. But otherwise they were nice. But thanks for the advice!
I got my turquoise green cheek conure today. He is clipped. He was hand raised and still he bit me so much today. He wasn't scared of me at all, he got very comfortable with me right off the get-go and was able to come out of his cage and receive head scritches. He STILL bites. He crawls up my arm, and walks around on my neck and shoulders biting me, preening me (thats okay) and chewing on my clothes and jewelry. Literally he attacks my hand when I put it near him. He won't step off even though he can step up. He ignores me and I end up having to do some pretty ridiculous things to get him down. I dont know if I'm doing something wrong or if there's something wrong with him, or if this is normal. Please help.
This I do still get sometimes walk in a different room move around.
I have a new turquoise Greek cheek live had for a week. She gets angry if I put her in her cage for a bit to let my dogs out. When she gets out again she is very nippy. Attacks my phone constantly
You are awesome! So helpful, ty 😀😀
Birb Bundy lolll thanks for this info 🖤
Thank you you’re video here has been inspiring I have a green cheek conure and have learned timing is absolutely crucial and being firm but not frightening is crucial my green cheek conure Toby likes going on the edge of my cup when empty and sometimes get a little over bite then I say no that’s not very nice and walk him in another room on the cup or my hand then when he is good walk slowly back then he is fine but yes they are very split second changing very active birds he is coming up to two years of age.
A few months agp I got a free green check conure when the owner jobs caused her to be out of town most of the time.. He spends all day out of his cage. He had been raised from a baby and was 7 tears old. I became impatient after a couple of weeks and mistakenly grabbed him out of his cage and he lost trust in me. Recently I had gotten him to fly to my arm and I would talk to him with no problem. A couple of days ago he few to my arm and took a hunk out of it. Today he flew to my face and made it bleed. When I tried to take him off, my thumb and arm got bites to bleed. I kind of flung him to the window, not trying to but I wanted him off. So I will continue watching your videos hoping. I can keep the bird. I am in alot of pain.
My conure of five years has turned to Birdzilla and is MEAN, breaking skin. Can you help? We were bonded, now I'm looking at rehoming, please help!
This video is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much Victoria, life saver 🙌
Awe thank you!! I'm glad to help :) thanks again for the comment
Guys- I know some of these comments are about thanking Victoria for helping and explaining the problem. Not really bothering for me. But for the people that keep complaining that the gcc taking the skin off or taking chunks off their hand or arm. And then complaining. If you Actually Watched the video she says she doesn’t care what phase it is and that you need to stop it because it can take more then chunks and skin.
I feel something happened to your baby, I pray you find another one and come back. Whatever happened I am sorry and you are missed
Great advice! Subscribed!
I be lovin my birdy! Enjoyed the video! Thanks.
I love the video! Problem, I have a 8yr old rehome gcc, and when she head bobs and walks up to me, she sometimes steps onto me, and so times bites hard enough to break skin. How can I tell if she is choosing violence?
Victoria you are an expert
just got my first green cheek and he is fiesty lol thank you for the advice, very much helpful!
How do you get him to stop ripping paper and screaming for no reason I have this bird for like three yrs about , should I put him back in his cage and cover him I'm glad I found you I'm watching all your vedios
I am newly fostering a green-cheeked conure that was found outside. He loves being petted and loves being on my son's neck and snuggling with him. But when he comes on to me he bites. He has bit my ear, neck, and cheek. But he does let me pet him when he sits on our couch. I just firmly say "No", and push him away from where he is biting. He then bites my fingers. I am now afraid to have him on me. I don't want to feel this way because he loves the attention. Someone told me they think he is a female ( the vet wasn't sure), and the rescue association we got him from thought he was a boy. Anyway, someone told me female conures tend to bite human females more than male conures. Not sure if this is true. I have subscribed to your channel and have been following you since we got "Eddie" as this is a new adventure for us. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Your so cute!! My little Frankie does the little nibble when he's done letting me scratch his head.😂😂😂
haha Frankie is the cutest!!!!! Sounds like you've taught him to nibble easy and not be birbasaurus rex lol thank you again Wendy you're awesome.
@@VictoriaRyann oh he has his days! But he mostly takes it out on daddy😂
@@MyJAG12345 😂😂😂😂😂😂
We just got a pineapple green cheek..This video is so helpful! 💖
There’s a 6 year old at my local bird shop that apparently “chose” me. My question is, can I tame her still at 6 years? She was nippy but not supper crazy. She did love me and didn’t want to let go though.
JessIsaMess96 yes you can still tame this bird you just have to be gentle and work with the bird bond, tame I would take the bird home open the cage and let the bird slowly ease itself into the new setting but don’t leave the bird alone most likely won’t come out the cage asap but the bird will come out when it is ready and when it does acknowledge it and reward it and that’s when you start the bonding I would do 1-2 hours of hands on training and then 3-4 hours of just having the bird chill in the same room as you and have the bird around and let the bird know you’re there
xx_ wade I took her home today. The bird shop owner said he’s never seen a bond like it and supplied me with everything and let me take Simba home. He said he’d rather the bird be happy than spend weeks there waiting for me to pay it off. And so far Simba has been very great and responsive! I did as you said and it worked like a charm. Likes to go inside my shirt and doesn’t nip much anymore. Three days of progress I’d say we’ve come a long way and I can’t wait to keep working with Simba.
And to specify i spent about 3 hours everyday the shop was open working with her for 3 days even though I’m terrified of birds she only trusted me enough not to rip me lol only right I took her home. I’ll provide her with the best of my ability. I love wildlife, and I love getting to know her and respect her species.
I was the 600th liker :D
New member here. I trained my Conure Zoe not to poop on me. Good times.
😂😂😂 ok first of all thank you for joining the #birbsquad !!! I don't know if it's the dry humour of your comment or what but the "good times" had me laughing so hard lol congrats on you and Zoe. Enjoy your poo free life 😅 and thank you again
Really educational thank you so much
Hey Victoria, Ash here 👋 My GCC is not that nippy with my fingers. However, everytime she’s on my shoulder, she’ll bite my ears off. I’ve tried holding her beak when bites me, but she gets angry in the process. What should I do in that case?
Izzy wasn’t very nippy but she did bite, she was a very scared and nervous birb. She is REALLY attached to me so she would bite my siblings and my parents. I didn’t discipline them per se but I did take some of the toys from her. I’m not sure if that was the right approach but it did the trick. I guess she is so smart that she thought “if I do this I won’t get toys” that’s my hypothesis. Thank you so much for all you do, you have helped so much with Izzy. Also she has learned how to snap!! (Making the noise with mouth and raising foot)
This is awesome! Sounds like you and Izzy are really understanding each other! You both sound perfect together :) thank you for the compliments that really does mean a lot. That is so cool you taught her how to snap I bet its so cute when she does it! Have you thought about posting a video on her doing it? I saw you post videos on fortnite but wasn't sure if you thought about doing a green cheek one here and there.
Well, I’m traveling over a couple states for the forth of July, but my uncle has trained his African grey to “snap” so I’ll try to get footage of that, if not than I’ll try to record Izzy. By the way, Izzy is not alone and neglected. She adores my older sister, so she is not alone and stressed. Love what you do, I have some footage of my grandmas umbrella cockatoo. ( my family is like an entire flock ) I’m not sure if I should set up a RUclips channel for birbs or just post on my regular. Thank you for all you do.
Hope you had a fun fourth of July and safe traveling! Sounds like you've got some really funny birb moments! haha. Also sounds like Izzy is really loved :) Yeah as far as the youtube channel goes that is a toughy! If it was me personally, I'd set up a new one to keep the games and birds separate. Unless you are done with the video games uploads entirely well then yeah go ahead and put bird videos on that channel. If that makes sense... but thats just my thoughts. Thank you so much for the compliments. Wishing you and Izzy a happy Tuesday!!!
I am at a loss with my 3 yr old gcc. We had a sun conure that he was unseperatable from and unfortunately one day she got out. He became depressed so I brought this to the attention of my avian vet. She suggested getting him a friend. I gave it a lot of thought before doing so. At first he wanted nothing to do with her and would still cling to me but now all he wants to do is bite me every chance he gets no matter what I do. How can I change/fix this?
I recently got a green check conure and he was nice for the first day and a few days later he got aggressive to the point he doesn't want to go to his cage might because we recently got him. I'm going to try the bonding and spend time with him. He likes to go with my hair but when I try to get him off he usually bites again . I'm going to work on the bonding. He tore the skin out very little not noticeable . Thank you !
They are such nice pets
Fantastic post
I have been trying to find new videos you have done. Where did you go?
Oh my God that is 100% sure me and Rio my maroon belly conure had been bonded for almost two years and one day he just decided to jump on me from his cage cuz he was mad that I was too close to it and he bit my neck and made it bleed and scared my mom it must have scared him to so now he's just a mess I guess I need to start rebonding. He still loves my man. But he basically hates me lol and the room it happened in. he know he can hurt me. And I'm legit a lil scared. But I just keep trying to have positive interactions with him lots of Nutri berries lots of grapes anything he likes if anybody has helped with rebonding with a bird that would be great. Thank you girl!
Hey Marley!!!! Oh yes definitely sounds like Rio needs some good quality time with you :) even if its going back to step one with offering plenty of treats and focusing on quality time together and not quantity. Sounds like you are trying really hard with Rio and wanting to make it work. You two are going to do great together :)
Dear Victoria How can I get my 10 or 11 year old green-Cheeked conure to stop biting he never used to bit until he bit someone for the first time and brought blood?
Can I ask what microphone your using for this video? I need one and I like how small and great quality it is
Hi Victoria! I just found you while searching how to get my conure to stop biting! I just got my yellow sided conure a week ago and his name is also Yoshi!! He wasn't treated very nicely from the last owner so I'm hoping I'll be able to put a stop with his biting...the correct way! New subscriber, I'm looking forward to watching your other videos! Thanks for helping!
