I really appreciate your video. I just took home a GC conure that seems absolutely terrified of people. When I asked to meet her the shopkeeper reached in and grabbed her very quickly and aggresively with both hands from where she was cowering in the corner and I felt so bad for her after learning she'd been in that shop for SIX MONTHS that I just couldn't leave her there. She seems particularly scared of hands (and i don't blame her) so I really appreciated you focusing on that particular fear.

I just bought a Green Cheek Conure and I can't believe how different they are in temperament. my green Cheek is Super friendly and handle able . He has never bit me or even tried. I just inherited a Green Cheek. We have met before although his dad passed and his caretaker just dropped him off. The first 45 minutes after my son left (which he loves) it started to scream. I went back to my desk which is 15' away from a sliding glass door where his cage is. I just did my own thing and looked for a cover for the evening. About 7:00 PM he looked like it was bed time. He loved the red color and came out running around with his approval. It 's big enough for his huge cage. He's very funny and settling in just fine. I dig this little guy. I’m getting a green cheek tomorrow and I’m so scared I’m gonna mess up the bond. Everyone has given me advice but it’s ALL different. I have a plan but I’m not sure if it’ll work Step 1: keep hands OFF the bird, stay in the room for awhile, sing and talk softly, and only go into the cage to change water, food, and to clean. Once the bird is comfortable with your presence and the new surrounding, go to step 2. Step 2: Try to sit close to the cage but don’t make eye contact, offer the bird treats from outside the cage but if he moves away it’s okay. Try again later. When the bird takes the treat go to step 3. Step 3: Try feeding the bird inside the cage with your hand and offer food. Do it continuously and go to step 4: 4: teach the bird how to perch on your finger or arm. Do this for a few weeks. Finally, step 5 Step 5: when the bird is comfortable enough, take him out of the cage so he can enjoy outside and set up snacks, toys, and puzzles everywhere. Is this a good plan?? I’m really scared I’m gonna mess up, someone help?? 😬
You are amazing and a true asset to every parrot owner! I'm so inspired to educate myself more. I have 1 grn cheek and 7 cockatiels You make me want to do more for them to improve they're quality of life. Thank u for all you do!
this helped! my new bird has started to fly onto me (after a day of me chilling in my room and leaving her cage open) however if i try get her to step up on my finger or if i refill her food, she runs away from my hand. hopefully soon she will step up onto me 🙏🏼
I was just given a pineapple green cheek, never considered of having one before. He is not tame and fearful (not aggressive just run and hide) thank you so so much for this video. Lil Dexter has gone to sleep, but tomorrow the fun begins! Hope I can cuddle with him at some point like I do with my cockatiel!
Thank you so much for posting this!! I started feeling like a terrible new bird mom, and I started crying and beating myself down >n< When you said that you had tried something new from something you read online and then you lost the birds trust!! I did that too!! Thank you thank you again!!
Had birds for the last 20 years, got this indian ringneck who lived his whole life in a aviary, getting bullied around alot. So scared of everything! And I just couldn´t get to him... Thought I made progress, but then back to Sqare one. Again and again. But thanks to this vid I found it. It´s the eyecontact!
This helped me an insane amount. My green cheek is very nervous since being in his new home for a week and by just doing one of these tips, he's gotten closer to me than ever before.
Hey Victoria! This is some wonderful advice, and I love your personality! I recently took in a very, very aggressive parrot. He had been improperly fed and neglected and it caused him to get very aggressive. I'll have you know that thanks to your advice, this parrot, after five months, has felt comfortable stepping up on my hand! Thank you so much.
I just got a baby green cheek and he's definitely not tame, so I will put your advice into action. Based on the comments, I have hope I will have success. You are so adorable and sweet, you remind me of me when I'm talking about something I love. Thanks, for the great video!
Thank you for noticing that!! It's definitely a strange thought to think of life without them. They are such a happy part of my life. I bet if you've got birds you probably think the same way 🤗💜 thank u again.
We got so lucky with our Black Capped Conure. From day one she came right to us, and wanted to be with us. A little too much and clingy at times, but it's better than her not wanting to do anything with us. She hangs on the door and calls to us till we come get her. She is more affectionate than any of our other pets, and silly as hell. What a clown lol.
1:38 you have my respect for not putting your bird back on the post. The biggest problem is being forcing there bird to do something and I’m glad to see you let him do his thing and was patient with letting him come back😅
I have a pineapple and now I got a green cheek. Right now I introduced green cheek to my pineapple. My pineapple fed the green cheek lol. I'm excited for them.
Thank you , for this informative and educational video , I recently got a pineapple green cheek conure. Now I feel more confident about raising him. Thank you
Thanks for the advise I have a twenty week old green ringneck you described his behaviour to a T I will try everything you have advised thanks for the great video 😁
I showed my mom this video and it was the wall breaker to getting a green cheek, my mom never wanted one but I did everything in this video and it helped her be the cutest little feather baby!!! My mom now loves her and started collecting her feathers for my little sister to craft with. Her name is Izzy by the way. At first izzy was very shy but we set up some stands, bought some toys and treats, and built a custom cage. ( big enough for a vulture because my baby deserves the best ) My mom is now a proud grandma
AWEEEE HOW EXCITING!!! This is great news thank you so very much for commenting and letting me know things are going well. Love the crafting idea with the feathers I'll have to look into doing this with my kids. You sound like such a passionate person with your bird I love it. You should be proud of yourself for how far you've come with Izzy. I wish you, your family, and Izzy many many long happy healthy years together :) keep me updated on how things are going please!
Of course!! I will keep you updated for everything that happens, but today we started recall training. It was a rough start because she would always fly to my mom or dad in the room. But we have some quality treats with us. So I let her know I had them, let her try to get them but not quite reaching so she would have to jump to my hand. I guess I started way to far.
@@ceooftherapy6655 that sounds like a great start!! Yoshi used to do that if my kids were in the room. But when I started doing it with just me and him with less distractions in the room he did waaaay better. So cool youre doing trainings with yours. Shows you really care and want to keep working with her. Izzy is a lucky lil birb ☺️
My god you're an amazing person! I am planing to get a GCC of my own. And been having lots of problems with finding or understanding information and you help so much! Thank you!
Awee that is so nice of you thank you!!!! Excited for you on getting a gcc. You're gonna do great with one 💜 thank you again for the kindness and hope you have a happy Thanksgiving
I love love love watching your videoes they teach me how to acknowledge green cheek conures and other birds seeing as my dad's getting me a green cheek for christhmas
Subscribed and on board. Will definitely be watching more videos! I purchased a green cheek conure a couple weeks ago and have been working on understanding her more. As we watched your video she sat on me with her hair fluffed and eyes closed. Us establishing a bond has been a journey but u helped me to understand why I have been getting bit so much. I also saw yoshi get in your head and that's one of my tweet tweets fav places to be. Other than when she's trying to nibble on my neck..lol😂
My bird use to be completely afraid of me and my family. She is mainly around me, but my parents would walk in and she would immediately go to the corner of her cage. I got my bird Sonny to gain my trust by letting her come out of her cage on her own and letting her check me out slowly. She had started to warming up to me and now loves me and my family as she got use to us and me letting her get comfortable on her own. She lets me get her out of her cage by hand and now she’s so happy when I come up to the cage and she’s ready to let her out. I definitely haven’t seen this until a few months after I had Sonny, and I have done most of the things you recommend.
i was looking for a video like this. i have a small conure and I've had him for about a month now. he's starting to come near me but he's learning slowly to come near me. thank you so much for making this video it will definitely help me to tame my boy
This video was very helpful. My Green Cheek,Maurice will be 2 yrs old Dec 24,2019. He hates fingers, can't pet him,he will bite your fingers before they're even close. So he steps up on my arm or the back of my hand and he walks all over me,grooms my hair, eats fruit and stuff from my hands. You can't hold it in your fingers though,he will forget the food and go for the fingers. He always wants to bite fingers, ears, and your lips, and watch out he will go for the eyes.So he's the bird who has to be redirected from the face.He is getting more calm and less nippy now I notice.I figure we have to years and years to work things out.I love his sort of feisty personality and he is starting to talk.He says, step up, come out,and whatcha doin. In about a month we will be bringing home a Green Quaker,it will be weaned and ready to come home about Oct 24th. I was happy to see you have a Green Cheek and a Quaker out together and grooming on another and getting along.I hope in time mine will do the same.Like I said,we will have many years to work on that. These videos are very good, thank you for the ideas and information.
Love the all blue bird he's cute your pretty cute two , I was out biking in the woods an came across a big wood pecker an a Turkey vulture pretty cool.
Thank you Victoria! I bought my turqoise from a breeder, but he's more like a rescue. Very frightened and this will help me work with him better. Thanks again.
I literally love your videos! Such gorgeous birbs! I have a cobalt blue Quaker parrot called Merlin ☺️ I rehomed him from a lovely man who found out he was allergic to Merlin! I got Merlin 2 years ago, but he’s always been a little weary of hands. Your videos have been super helpful. Thank you so much for your informative yet fun videos! 🧡
I work at a pet store and a customer recently surrendered a VERY frightened green cheek with very poor socialization. I want to get him comfortable around people and properly socialized before we can adopt him out, thank you so much for this video 😩
Thank you so much for this. I have a baby conure (his name is Moses) & he's 1 now but I have so much work to do & I've messed up a lot so this video really inspired me to keep trying with him!!
Thank you! I know I’m late but, I sat by my bird’s cage and didn’t say anything and didn’t make a ton of eye contact. He finally started playing with his toys so I got a nutriberry out for him and he came over right away. I will keep doing this and then introduce my hand. 😁🦜
Hey girl! This is so cool thank you so very much for commenting and letting me know things have been working with your birdy. You're awesome you should be so proud of yourself for trying so hard!!!! Good luck to you both :)
I used to want to catch wild birds as a kid. I would slowly and quietly creep up on the bird with a huge white bucket then throw the bucket at the bird.. I never caught a bird.
I once found a baby bird that had fallen from its nest. His mother couldn't help it so i took it home and gave it good care. After about 2 months ,i released it to a forest near by and before releasing it ,i tied a green string on its foot. That was 3 years ago and yesterday i saw the same kind of bird with a green string tied to each foot ...It was him
Wow Victoria I love these birds. I contacted you before I am Bob in Connecticut I gave up bartending a few years ago because I collect comic books I really gave up working after my girlfriend passed away she made movies and magazine covers. my green cheek Spidey is definitely the best friend I had he is with me at all times better than any dog or cat I also have three cocktails one of them is a very rare albino her name is Harley Quinn I had her since she was born. And I have a beautiful sun conure her name is storm I would never cage the birds. I do have two cages totally open so they can go in and out. The green cheek sleeps on the top shelf of my medicine cabinet in the bathroom whenever he’s tired. Sometimes Spidey acts like an animal and he’s only a baby boy.🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I have a sun conure who is very spoiled I have had her since she hatched He mother wouldn't raise her for some reason. She was gave to to me to raise and now 3 years later she has to be on my or by me at all times. your babies are so cute. I have a Hahns macaw I rescued the first year all he wanted to do was bite me but now we are friends and this because I started hand feeding him. Now I can play with him and he enjoys playing and interacting with me when I am making things. I feel parrots are so smart they are more than pets to me. when I am mad they both both get mad. They have made my life so much better. You are so good with your babies. I love you Nine inch Nails T-shirt. I'm an old mocker.
funny story that i have, one day i really wanted a parakeet so i went to petsmart to look at them. There was the green cheek conure that was just looking at me, i went up to her and she didn’t even run or go to hide. I went up to the parakeets and they flew off. That’s when i knew i had to get the green cheek. I saved up for her and got her and it was the best decision of my life. She warmed up to me as soon as i took her home :)

You are amazing and a true asset to every parrot owner! I'm so inspired to educate myself more. I have 1 grn cheek and 7 cockatiels
You make me want to do more for them to improve they're quality of life. Thank u for all you do!
i love that their just making out and sharing food for pretty much all the video
I love your videos!!! You helped me a lot with taming my bird.
I'm a kid and I really like green cheeks ,
This is soo much information thank you 😊😉
Excellent advice! Patience and reading body language is the key!
Thanks girly! You are so right
this helped! my new bird has started to fly onto me (after a day of me chilling in my room and leaving her cage open) however if i try get her to step up on my finger or if i refill her food, she runs away from my hand. hopefully soon she will step up onto me 🙏🏼
How is it going now with your bird?
I was just given a pineapple green cheek, never considered of having one before. He is not tame and fearful (not aggressive just run and hide) thank you so so much for this video. Lil Dexter has gone to sleep, but tomorrow the fun begins! Hope I can cuddle with him at some point like I do with my cockatiel!
A few days ago I wanted a green cheek conure, now I have an up to date video on it!
Thank you so much for posting this!! I started feeling like a terrible new bird mom, and I started crying and beating myself down >n<
When you said that you had tried something new from something you read online and then you lost the birds trust!!
Yoshi thinks what is mine is mine and what is yours is mine, Just like my Tui
Lol Tui and Yoshi are very similar that's for sure 😂
12:35 the birds just stare at each other then all of a sudden ATTACK
This helped me an insane amount. My green cheek is very nervous since being in his new home for a week and by just doing one of these tips, he's gotten closer to me than ever before.
This is the best channel. The advice is always fantastic
Lol I love how the quaker gave yoshi some of the millet lol
Oh my gosh I loved how they preened and cuddled 💕
They are precious 😫🥰
Hey Victoria! This is some wonderful advice, and I love your personality! I recently took in a very, very aggressive parrot. He had been improperly fed and neglected and it caused him to get very aggressive. I'll have you know that thanks to your advice, this parrot, after five months, has felt comfortable stepping up on my hand! Thank you so much.
i always wear a hoodie that covers my head just in case they poop lmao
Hahaha “you got this brah”❤❤❤❤ thanks for the helpful info
Thank you for this video. I got a green cheek that had been at petsmart for over a year and slowly working on building trust.
I just got a baby green cheek and he's definitely not tame, so I will put your advice into action. Based on the comments, I have hope I will have success. You are so adorable and sweet, you remind me of me when I'm talking about something I love. Thanks, for the great video!
I really enjoy your videos, they are really great for bird owners!
Oh my birb THANK YOU!!! This was so nice to read :) you're the best!!!!!!!!
I was always wacthing you before i got brids and guess what you helped me make my bird fly to me its amazing
Your video has been the most helpful. That is my new conure you just described. Thanks for your great videos.
Ahhh thank you!!! This was so nice to read thanks. Hope you and your conure are doing well ☺️
You seem to enjoy and love your parrots
Thank you for noticing that!! It's definitely a strange thought to think of life without them. They are such a happy part of my life. I bet if you've got birds you probably think the same way 🤗💜 thank u again.
My bird flies to me, I let him know how beautiful it was. Lol..akeeta is a very bold Quaker. He also loves your voice!
Just came across this video..didn’t think about the long sleeves..advice really helped. Thanks
Thank you , for this informative and educational video , I recently got a pineapple green cheek conure. Now I feel more confident about raising him. Thank you
Thanks for the advise I have a twenty week old green ringneck you described his behaviour to a T I will try everything you have advised thanks for the great video 😁
Awe I bet your ringneck is a beauty!! Good luck and you've got this! 🐦
Ringnecks are tricky and take a lot more patience. Just keep taking it slow and you will have a great bird!!🐦
Most informative and helpful bird video I’ve watched :)
Thank you gf I really appreciate that. Hope you're having a happy 2020 so far
Watching videos with my new bird is helped he's wanting to listen and watch lol
You're gonna do great with one 💜 thank you again for the kindness and hope you have a happy Thanksgiving
this video is twisted. that conure is so cute i think my heart is about to seize up.
I love love love watching your videoes they teach me how to acknowledge green cheek conures and other birds seeing as my dad's getting me a green cheek for christhmas
This is my first conure thanks for your help
I love this video! It is super helpful! Thanks!
Thanks girlfriend! Hope you have a great week
You too!
That is one HUGE Quaker.
I love how well your fids get along, so endearing :)
Your birds combined into one birb t’words the end there
Getting green cheek soon this has been so helpful
Aweee this is great news!!! I am so happy to hear that Sonny has really came around :) Thank you so very much I hope both of you have a fantastic day
i was looking for a video like this. i have a small conure and I've had him for about a month now. he's starting to come near me but he's learning slowly to come near me. thank you so much for making this video it will definitely help me to tame my boy
Thank you!!! So excited for you that you've been seeing some progress. You're gonna do awesome with your lil dude!
Thank you so much for posting this!
Thank you so much my pineapple green cheek conure is not scared of me anymore😀
Oh my birb yayyyy Jayden!!!!! I'm so excited for you and your birdy that's great news 😁😁😁❤️ thank you for commenting this
i kinda got him not to bite me so hard now and i love it :)))
Awe thank you 😊😊😊 omg I bet that was so cool! Did you get pictures?
@@VictoriaRyann no didn't have my phone
Thank you Victoria! I bought my turqoise from a breeder, but he's more like a rescue. Very frightened and this will help me work with him better. Thanks again.
Love your personality! You gave very insightful tips and it helped me make my conure feel a lot more comfortable around me.
I literally love your videos! Such gorgeous birbs! I have a cobalt blue Quaker parrot called Merlin ☺️
I rehomed him from a lovely man who found out he was allergic to Merlin!
That was 3 years ago and yesterday i saw the same kind of bird with a green string tied to each foot ...It was him
Spyros Anthis that’s so cute
I would grab them with my hands or set up traps with spare cages or those see through baskets that they put fruits in
@@spyrosanthis9830 thts good you found your bird i never found my escaped budgie😔😭😭😭😭
@@bababoey7895 😢
I got one and I really am happy you did this video thx🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜
🐦 yeah im hearing you
Thank you so much for this video. I'll be getting a untamed conure that I'll be trying to tame. She's a wonderful bird just not being what it needs
Thank you for the tips! I've been planning on getting a conure for a little while now, and will definitely be taking notes from this video!
Yoshi kicks off again And again
