Hi Victor, could you please make a video addressing how to eliminate any hissing sounds when playing the clarinet? Would be much appreciated! Thank you!
Earthly Gods Just make sure there is no spit on the back of the reed. I always wipe the back of mine on my shirt before I play. And don't listen to the haters, keep playing if that makes you happy.
@@carlwilson4375even light reeds hiss. It's about getting a balanced reed. Whether that's a 2½ or a 5½, if it's balanced and has enough resistance but not too much that it's stuffy, then it won't hiss.
+Tools240 We have one on plunger mutes currently up here - ruclips.net/video/s0w_qeTCqiw/видео.html - there is another one we're nearly ready to post too, which covers a wider range of mutes! Flugelhorn we haven't filmed yet, but we'll get there!
great stuff! Clarinet rules!
I like this video in terms of articulation, but what about PROJECTING THE SOUND?
i think playing outside is a better suggestion

The reed you are using is too strong. Change to a lower reed. Also match the reed to the mouthpiece.

I noticed the different shape of the barrel? How does it make the clarinet sound differently than with a regular barrel?
Steven Cenname the barrel thins the air stream and makes it louder.... I think
Probably focuses the air and makes the clarinet sound brighter for jazz?
What barrel are you using?
Can you guys do a video demonstrating trumpet mutes and the cornet / flugelhorn?

what are the properties one wants for a jazz clarinet mouthpiece?
I guess thats new orleans clarinet timbre?
Yeah, most traditional jazz players prefer a reedy sound like Goines', which is achieved by a soft reed, and often a very open mouthpiece.
sounds like youre squeezing the mouthpiece
He absolutely is.
