Pretty much the same thing my instructor worked with .e on last weeks he said I tend to " cast " the club. He mad me stand pretty close to a wall, didn't have me do a backswing, but made me.do a downswing without hitting the wall.

Convincing the brain to slow down to get more speed is the tough aspect of this. Good tips, well done.

Yes this drill also made me aware of how tight I grip the club
You can’t do this drill putting the a tight grip
Gonna really work on this I tend to try a drill a couple times then I’m off chasing another on you tube before I really give it a go
    Thanks so much

As usual a great session. Concerning the step drill it is one I start off every practice session with. Besides the “Hitting from the top” it is a great remedy for several other ‘bad’ habits.
On my part to help the “Hitting from the Top” the one drill that’s really helped me is to pause at top which allows me be much more patient allowing a full centered shoulder turn.

Interesting. I have always had this issue. One pro I saw suggested something similar but to step and hit the shot on the range. I did feel somewhat self-conscious doing this but I saw some of my best ball-striking ever with this albeit still inconsistent. I actually tried it on the course on a practice round and again hit a couple of pure strikes but not consistently.
This video has prompted me to look again at this but with your drills instead.

Hi Russell. This is a big part of where I struggle. Sometimes, I get it right and I square up the club well. Other times, I start by pulling down and that results is a poor result. I'm going to get a rope and try to practice this 3-4 times a week, as recommended. I'll report back in a month. Thx!

I could reminded to lighten my grip every swing and it wouldn’t be often enough! Russ, along with the great drills you have given me (bent left leg and more rotation), I am trying to keep my back straight (angled but straight) at the top of the backswing. I think I had the reverse C happening due to my desire to keep my head still. I seem to sway 2-3” to the right to get the back straight. Is this a problem?

So, step loading my front leg and foot with pressure while taking the club away from set up position with this drill is going to enhance my ability to load my rear leg and foot during my take away to create width? Are you sure? Seems this drill will enhance your sequencing to increase a reverse pivot. I see. Now I know how and why to do a reverse pivot move so I now know how to fix it. Got it.

Your hands and arms will turn your hips, no need to “rotate” . Rotating will get you in front of the club and cause massive flips, the ball can go anywhere. You will be playing army golf. If you play this way be sure to bring plenty of golf balls.

Effortless? Mr Smooth Fred Couples walks thru his swing, says he’s going as hard as he can…looking easy takes a lot of work to develop.

Stack & tilt where you load on your lead leg/foot at address would argue with this..
