  • Do you struggle with your release pattern or do you have an excessively closed face at impact? 🤔
The Hell Drill is for you.👇🏻
The drill concept is to reduce the forearms from rolling over (trail arm excessively supinating) coming into impact causing the club face to be excessively closed to your club path & target line resulting in hooks or pull hooks.
The inefficient release pattern or “The Roll Release” with the forearms forces the fingers to twist your grip handle closing the clubface excessively producing big misses left for a right handed & a big miss right for a left hander whilst also making it hard for you to get any height on your ball flight as it deports the club face also.
The solution for “The Roll Release” is applying the hell drill process where you start by hitting chip shots with your trail hand pressed up against the opposite side of the grip handle to the target with an open palm with the intent to complete the chip motion by having no trail hand fingers wrapped around the grip handle but only pushing into the handle to maintain connection and keep the palm facing the target at impact.
Next level up to pitching shots where you wrap your 3 bottom fingers of the trail hand around the grip with the index & pinky off the grip handle. Again execute the pitch shot with the intent to keep the palm pointing to the target at impact.
Finally progress to a full swing shot with all trail fingers wrapped around the grip handle except the trail thumb with the intent to push your palm against the handle towards the target at impact.
Following this process with reduce the trail arm from supinating at impact & allow the club face to stay squarer to your target line or club path.

You closed and rotated the face through impact.

@@dswede9312 Yes. When you rotate the club face through impact it majority of the time it will be closed to your target line or club path unless it is extremely open on the downswing then it might square up to the target but it is not a reliable release pattern.
