I remember when Xanadu came out in theaters...Olivia Newton John was my groove.
One of the greatest musical artists of our lifetimes.
So Beautiful... Those Vocal harmonies are incredible !! Jeff Lynne Is a Musical Genius !!
I totally agree, Jeff Lynne is a master of vocal harmonies. (See also: "Heaven Only Knows" and many, many other ELO songs.) This is my favorite version of "Xanadu" because of the vocal arrangement.
I saw Jeff do this in a cable special to promote the album. I was shocked to find that my husband of twenty years didn't really know them and I was happy to watch the special several times as ELO (along with The Who) was one of my favorite bands in the '70s!

I got to see him last year at the Hollywood Bowl. I grew up listening to a variety of music from My Chemical Romance to The Eagles. ELO has been my all time favorite band EVER. And when I saw him live, it was other worldly. Jeff is a musical genius and to this day it was THE BEST live show i have ever been to. You gotta see him live!

They just announced a US and Europe tour for 2018, guess you might have a chance now!

There's supposed to be a Long Wave Vol 2 and Mr. Blue Sky Vol 2 at some point. I'd imagine he'll want to release those before the tour later this year just to generate more PR and hype.

As much as I love Jeff in pretty much all his ELO songs, I prefer the female voice(whatever her name is) with the original version of this song.

I can't believe I never took the opportunity to see her perform. anytime i heard of it usually tickets werent on sale yet and i forgot about it. she was my fave for a few years until the gogo's came along.
