Don't have a meat grinder so I used my shop's bench top grinder instead. The meat had a strong metallic flavor to it and the boss wasn't really impressed, said I should stick to welding...after I cleaned up shop.

@James A ... Here's a tip for ya mate, swap out your crap Bunnings Aluminium Oxide grinding wheel for a solid diamond faced one. No metallic flavour & it'll last a lot longer. 🤣

I freeze the equipment, not the meat. After lots of grinding the machine warms up too much and can occasionally smear the fat. So cold equipment helps. In my experience.

Yes that’s definitely fine. Sometimes I keep my equipment in the cool room so maintain a cool temperature when grinding

Does anyone know if the mincing attachments to say a top notch bench mixers do just as good a job?

If you’re making small batches they are perfectly fine, I do approximately 100kg a week thus why I opted for a commercial grade one in my restaurant. I’ve used the kitchen aid one as well as a Kenwood mincer

Haha I bet we bought our mincers from the same ebay seller. When I got mine, it was all banged up and the push down plastic thing was shattered. Still worked good though.
