One amendment to make: we're keeping the no-FC requirement for "S" grade (the video was using an incorrect table for this). Also, please give us your feedback, either on github: github.com/ppy/osu/discussions/25810 of forums: osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/topics/1858702?n=1
I think there should be some kind of indicator that make "fc" score stand out since it is one of the big part of osu standard. Maybe change the font of the "S" grade or add a "+" sign could work. Or just apply it to every other grade. It would be funny to see a D rank fc as D+. just my opinion though
I love how high quality and straightforward these explanation videos are. they are entertaining and even for a noob like me I know what is changing and why really well.
4:45 as an aside to the early hit change; this is important mostly because the followcircle would never be able to track you if the sliderball hadn't appeared yet. if you hit the sliderhead and started following the slider path early, you'd completely miss the ball, and potentially sliderticks, because of your timing misread. lack of late hit leniency is even more annoying, and i'm very happy they've changed it in this release. huge thanks to the dev team for their work on it.
As a much newer player, I love playing Lazer. It just feels very comfortable and fun, the UI is fresh and clean, the newer "popping" hitsound tickles my brain in a way other hitsounds don't, it's easy to download maps online right from within the client, nothing else needed... I immediately felt something different when I switched to Lazer, but got used to it quickly. I feel like a lot of people will have trouble adjusting purely because it's just... not what they've gotten used to playing over several years with the game. But I hope this will at least satisfy people who are open to change and just looking for some quality of life adjustments and minor tweaks. It definitely won't satisfy the diehard oldbies who don't want change, but that's ok. Lazer feels like such a complete, super polished package that could make this game a lot more approachable to a whole new audience. Appreciate all the updates!!
I thought in-game map downloads are only temporarily enabled for everyone on dev builds of lazer (contrary to donator-only on stable), or did I pull that out of my rear?

Enjoy the last moments of this year ppy and the dev team we love you all, you've been doing an amazing job, see you in lazer 2024

@@Konomi_io yeah, i played at high level in std, taiko and mania, and for Lazer i prefer Taiko and Std, the mania skin is terrible to play, for me it's just too bright and tiny... and we should be able to change maybe the shape of the notes...
The slider changes look really good! The ability to change mod multipliers on the fly is super powerful, makes balancing the game proactively much much easier and I'm sure will help in the future.
The update seems great and I can't stress enough how important it is for everyone watching this to actually go and play lazer for the next two weeks, to give feedback and help the developers in the implementation of the pp system ❤❤
idc what anyone else says. no matter what my opinion is on future gameplay changes are, once ranked submission is live on lazer, i am doing my full import to make sure i have everything from stable converted over and i am never touching osu!stable (aside from maybe tourneys before they move over to lazer). the game has so many new amazing features that we used to have to use 3rd party applications for and now its just perfectly contained within the game. i love doing my skill pushing on lazer already so moving over all activity there is something that ive been waiting for for a while!!!
from what i have played recently, lazer has been a big improvement over stable for a LONG time, and it isn't even close. Yeah some things can still be improved but the new systems are just a cut above the old ones!
I agree that lazer is much better than stable now, but for mappers stable will be a first pick, since thera are still mamy features from stable that have to be implemented in lazer. Even the handdrawing tool is kinda useless for most mappers, since we already can do any slidershapes we want, although it its yoo soon to say that , because it needs more exploration.
@@insid3r_90 while absolutely true for long-time mappers, I have a feeling all new mappers will be starting out on lazer from this point on. Just found my tablet in a drawer and felt like popping circles for the first time in like two years. Saw the lazer build in the downloads and it made me excited about playing just as much as I was back when I was starting out. And, how should I put this... OH MY GOD! I just love the UI changes! Everything feels so modern, fresh and seamless! Thank you so much, such a great job! Can't wait to play all my maps again.
These slider changes are huge! Things like slider streams immediately feel much more playable on Lazer now, it used to feel like you either SS'd or missed the entire pattern with no in between, now the gameplay feels much more in line with stable.
I would love to see in-built practice difficulty creation or unranked 'start-from-XXX-combo-with-100/200-combo' mod to support FL players. Honestly FL is such a unique and deep mod, I really hope it won't be left by the wayside.
Just tried lazer again. wow, just wow. The game's performance is MINT! *I love the UI changes!* I haven't tried mania, but I'm so happy with what you've been doing! ! !
peppy looks genuinely excited for this and the end-of-year release. love to see it. that sliderhead leniency is definitely a game-changer in a good way. a bit of feedback on the "spectator mode" screen: i think it will look cleaner if this entire thing can somehow be condensed into a slightly bigger-than-usual notification card. and when you want to stop spectating, just move your mouse to the top-right corner and click 'Stop Spectating' on the reappearing card. and hopefully, the followcircle will finally be considered in SR calculation sometime in the future.
Very good changes, I expected the video to be done in terms of changes and then realised I was only in the middle. I dont think there needs to be an indicator for a FC, maybe only for perfect combo like previously in Stable. The ScoreV2 scoring is already very good at showing how close a score is to an FC (if you know the multipliers)
my favorite thing about lazer is that it gives players more options to play for fun. By that i mean that in stable, a lot of players get shoehorned into caring too much about pp because there isnt a lot of "for fun" mods or ways to play that are rewarding, but lazer reminds us that osu is a flexible game that you can play however you want (within the rules of course)
Great changes! The logout thing could be a bit annoying for people using multiple devices (like a phone and their main PC) but otherwise this all seems great. I’m excited to see lazer finally in a ranked state :D

However, if Lazer publishes scores, pp and manages rankings on the official site, there's nothing to keep me on the old version x)
imo, lazer is great, and the part wich might became insane for the game is the playlists.
