      The only boxers that make the millions are Mayweather and pacman. And maybe Hopkins. other than that, nobody makes that kind of money. In mma, over all, they make exactly what boxers make. Overall.

    • @The021589cjr
      @The021589cjr 10 лет назад +2

      Jim Morrison Not true at all. Mayweather, Manny, Canelo, Cotto, Chaves Jr., the Klitschkos, Haye, Froch, Groves, Marquez, Kessler are all boxers who repeatedly make prizefights where they earn millions. On top of that, it's not uncommon for fighters to sign promotional contracts worth more than 10 million. Thats just a promotional contract. Without having even fought yet.

    • @jimmorrison5832
      @jimmorrison5832 10 лет назад

      There are only 2 fighters that make the insane amount of money. Pacman and floyd. In mma, there are tons of guys that make the big bucks. Not floyd money, but big money. St. pierre. Jon jones, anderson silva, before he was injured. uriah faber. Valesques. etc..

    • @The021589cjr
      @The021589cjr 10 лет назад +3

      Again, you are completely wrong. I named just 11 of the current fighters that all make multiple millions for fighting. You can add Groves, Bute, Donaire, Mosley, Hopkins, Abraham and Ward to that list. Mayweather, Pacquiao, Canelo, Klitschko, Cotto, and Froch are the ones that make the hugest paydays, but even the B side fighters in boxing matches make more than MMA stars. Even Rigondeoux, considered the least promotable guy in boxing, earned $750,000 for a bout with Donaire. Thats more than 90% of MMA stars.

    boxing was passable in its time... in todays atmosphere where the world is soooo wired and everything happens so quickly... i think we need a sport that occupies people throughout the year. but yeh..glad we have mma and its only going to get bigger given the fox deal.

    I have to agree with Arum on the paychecks. Mixed Martial Arts/UFC is arguably a more popular and revenue generating sport than boxing right now and yet top boxers get payed so much more than even UFC fighters. Guys who are in the preliminary fights usually only get around 5,000-6,000 dollars.

    @SirMicDre What you are looking at is only a show purse, they don't report the fighters actual salaries to the public. Think of it as a bonus for showing up to work for a day on top of your normal salary. On top of all that there is PPV generated revenue paid out to the main event & sometimes co-main event fighters. Three side bonus's to win on the night including KO; submission & fight of the night. Fighters also make sponsorship money as does the UFC from it's own sponsors ect.

  • @Immortalsyn83
    @Immortalsyn83 11 лет назад

    That's silly though because many MMA fighters don't come from boxing. That's like asking a boxer to do a pure wrestling match. Neither athlete is being restricted stylistically in full body combat. With gloves without gloves you still gotta land a punch & it's harder to land a game ending punch then dragging a white belt to the floor.

    @CrashArtSkillz According to Lorenzo they payout in the neighborhood of 50% to the fighters. They need to be able to recover money for marketing future events. Fighters have an audit clause in their contract which allows them to go in with a team of accountants to view all the money made by an event. Zuffa never disclose a fighters salary to the public but that doesn't mean they aren't making good money. They have made about 40 fighters millionaires in the last 6 years.

    Of course you can skew numbers to make boxing sound like it's more generous. There are like 4 big fights a year in the world of boxing. Boxers often walk away with 8 figure purses. But that is like 5-6 fighters. With the UFC, you have 2-3 events a month, many of them are free, fighters get paid solid livable wages, health insurance, bonuses, and the opportunity for sponsorships. The economic impact of the the UFC brings to city after city beats top tier boxing based on sheer volume.

    Hmm, I really disagree. Silva cuts to 185.. Hes walkaround weight is about 200. He looked kinda awesome against Griffin. Very fast and much much more powerful. Almost every powershot really stunned him. Ofcourse JJ,is in another league compared to Griffin. But I think it would be a nice matchup. I think the reach advantage would really be a problem but other then that, silva is an amazing striker. DANA WHITE SHOULD MAKE IT HAPPEN thats the point and I think you agree with me on that

    I remember that, but JJ is in a different league compared to FG. Not saying FG isn't good but he's not JJ good. In the AS and FG fight the weight didn't matter because the skill levels equalized everything. But if AS and JJ fought, there would be no equalizing because JJ is like the AS of the LHW division. It's like AS fighting a LHW version of himself. Thats not going to be a good match up. Not saying it wouldn't be an awesome fight, but AS would be at a disadvantage.

    @MrMatt5252 Its common knowledge, reported by multiple journalist/sources that the top fighters, title holders, & popular fighters get a % of PPV revenue. Brock makes like 5mil PER fight, GSP like 4mil. Anderson mils per fight too. So do Matt Hughes. Also popular fighters like Rampage, Wand they get %. Forrest etc. UFC also has a middle class of fighters that do good with their fights, lots of bonuses, etc. Boxing only 3 people take it all. Mayweather, Pac, Bob Arum.

    1.6 million is the all time highest UFC's had for PPV in the US. However UFC doesn't need to beat them to remain highly successful. Boxing does 1-3 big events a year while UFC does over 30+. There is no best sport, sports are a preference. I watch boxing too but IMO MMA is the most exciting combative competition.

GSP makes between 2 and 5 million per fight. even mid-card fighters make around 75,000 to 200,000. 200 g's for 3-5 months of training and a max 15 minute fight. sounds pretty fair to me

    Please Aurm. The UFC doesn't disclose the official amount of money they pay their fighters because the fighters don't want it to be public. Also, the money paid out to the fighters is extremely more well distributed. The top ten boxers in boxing get 90% of the money in boxing, the rest get shit. It's very poorly distributed, Pacman and Mayweather make most of the money, it's disgusting. Another point, is that the UFC invest their money to go global, and go into new markets in other countries.

    You know the money that the ufc fighters make in the fight night is just a side paycheck right? They also get paid monthly thats what I heard. They also have free doctors. Thats why everybody is trying to get in the ufc not boxing.

    If UFC just released all the actual numbers from Each Fight and what they make in total every year, it would become so much more fair to fighters and other promoters since they would then know how much money "we" are talking about.
    Fighters deserve atleast 50% of the proceeds, anything less and I just cannot support it.

    @spkrcity Just the disclosed salaries. Many of the UFC top fighters get ppv revenue shares that is not disclosed. Anderson, GSP, Brock, Rampage,Jones, Forrest, many others get a percentage of the PPV. There are many fighters in the UFC end up getting millions a year vs Boxing where generally Mayweather, Arum,Pac take everything and others make shit. Plus in the UFC there is a middle class of fighters making a living also. Kos owns a lambo, houses. Plus the UFC is growing the sport

    The sad thing is, he doesn't actually care about what the MMA fighters get paid, it's just something to throw at MMA.

    The only fighters crying in UFC are the ones still fighting to make a name for themselves. Boxing is already established, MMA is still expanding world wide. All sports started with pioneers in it for the love of the game.

    A boxer is like a lion but in a shark tank hes just another meal. A wrestler can't compete in boxing like a boxer can't compete in wrestling... in MMA they both can compete without being restricted.
