It's so weird to me that in technical design terms, Last Knight Hot Rod is actually kind of well done. The silhouette is pretty decent, the color ombination is neat, and you can at least tell whats going on, wat part does what. In that sense, it's a stronger design than what could be said of a lot of bay movie characters, yet it still manages to completely botch the character it's supposed to represent. There's just no winning with these films, I guess.
If they changed the black to red it would have been so much better WHY
The main problem is if you changed the color scheme, it could be any sports car autobot in the bay movies
I don't kinda like the face tho, he looks like a puffer fish (but obviously that's subjective)
Its the head piece which puts me off
I think the design was meant for Hot Shot not Hot Rod. If we look the original Hot Shot, he has black color and has mouth plate.
Hot Shot is also a leader of Spy Changer team, and again, if we look at his role as spy, it rings a bell.
I'm on Rodimus Primal's side on the whole "did Hot Rod kill Optimus Prime or not" debate. Even if that was the intention of the scene, Hot Rod didn't mean to.
The original script of the movie had more of Hot Rod beating himself up and blaming himself while his friends remind him Megatron was the one who did the deed.

Obviously he didn't mean to. But he's still at fault and it's alright. He made up for it.

@@stevensteviepryde5888 Omg that would’ve been so much better. I always thought that Hot Rod should’ve had a story arc about his guilt and knowing this just disappoints me a bit because they decided not to go with that.
For MTMTE Roddy’s human look: that’s kinda the point of the character lol. He’s flashy and carefree (which can often get him in some trouble with Ultra Magnus) so this version’s avatar kinda reflects that
Also kinda lends the feel that’s he’s trying way too hard, like he’s trying to cover for the fact that he’s actually a terrible captain by putting on a big display
and the fact that his clothes are literally supposed to be based on marty mcfly lmao

But why does he wear 4 layers of clothes? He got a west, underneath the west a ripped jacket, underneath the ripped jacket a shirt and underneath the shirt a T-shirt. I know he is called hot rod but man, he must feel really hot with so many clothes.
G1, Animated and MTMTE are my favorite Rodimus designs. I also think his MTMTE version is the one that gets the most fanart so it's probably a pretty popular one.

Last knight hot rod with the lambo alt mode was dope. I don't get the whole "not my hot rod" argument. Transformers have been putting names on random robots all the time. Grimlock was a green crane for a while for christ sake

I thought that design was the best Rodimus to date before I read anything of IDW's
For Hot Rod, my favorite design is G1 animation model.
I also like Cyberverse (robot mode only).
With Rodimus Prime, my favorite design is Animated.
I also like G1 finalized animation model and human, Phoenix, Alternators, Kreo, IDW Human Projection, and XM Studios.
Then they killed him off in his first appearance in animated im pretty sure. 😢
For the record the War For Cybertron design appeared in the DS game, as the second boss you fight in the arena battle stuff, however he was dubbed Hot Shot there, they didn't want to use the Rodimus name when he was more a Hot Rod character, and they couldn't tradmark Hot Rod, so they just used Hot Shot, who obviously had a Hot Rod inspired repaint in Armada, and had elements of him in Cybertron (the arm guns, the exellerwings, he also got a Hot Rod repaint etc)
I would have personally included Hot Shot alongside Hot Rod since Hot Shot is a conceptually similar character and Hot Shot would have likely been called Hot Rod if Hasbro didn't run into that copyright issue at the time.
Hot Shot is more of a Bumblebee character... or rather, he's like a fusion of Bee and Hot Rod.

Probably my favorite of the lists so far, I do think for some of the Rodimus’s Hasbro’s inability to keep the name Hot Rod should have been accounted for (Animated Rodimus being Rodimus Minor)
The usage of the name "Minor" was due to fans disliking how Animated made the title "Prime" as common as "Sergeant" or "Lieutenant"
The problem i have with Last Knight!Hot Rod is that.......it just doesn't FEEL like Hot Rod

‘The Last Knight’ Hot Rod was terrible. The only good things about it were his Bubblegun, his WW2 design, and concept design.

Loved the tier list. Even though i don't mind Hot-Rod/Rodimus Prime; This list does make sense to me.
As I bring it up every time I can, I maintain that with a different head, or perhaps even just changing the face and removing the fins, and recolouring it, AOE/TLK Optimus would work much better as Rodimus.
the firetruck Rodimus design was later recycled for the Brave series as Duke Fire from Brave Police J-Decker.
Maybe that tlk hotrod had a thing going on were he named himself after the original hotrod, just like megatron did with megatronus 🤔

1. Hot Rod didn't get Optimus killed. If he hadn't jumped in to stop Megatron, Optimus would've been too busy talking to notice Megs pick up that gun.
2. Yeah, TLK Hot Rod doesn't feel like Hot Rod.

Hot Rod's WFC DS design is definitely a favorite of mine. Also since TF WFC DS was my first transformers game and the first time I saw Hot Rod/Rodimus.

I like power of the Primes rodimus because he looks more Prime if that makes any sense. Only because kinda like Orion turning to optimus I just like those huge changes but the character is still recognizable.

For the record, I love Hotrod's/Rodimus' original design. For me, its iconic, and it has withstood the test of time. Call me old-schooler, but that's just how I feel. His Last Knight design is... Meh... He looked totally unrecognizable. Coupled by the fact that he had a French accent, he was only Hotrod in name. But not the Hotrod who fans know.
I think the faceplate was there in the Primes War trilogy just to protect him, if briefly, from the horrendous lip flaps. lol
I actually liked the battlemask look from the Prime Wars Trilogy animation, in particular in combination with the transforming arm-blaster version

How Rodimus Primal feels about the Hut Rud is how I feel about "jazz" in the first Bayformers movie.

Hot Rod killing Optimus can’t be used as a complaint
Hot Rod should have a scene similar to that of smokescreen fixing a dying optimus with the forge in the big screens which would redeem him in the eyes of the fans

Titans Return is a Good modern take of the character it should be in chosen one(just remove the headmaster gimmick)
I really like how with Cyberverse Hotrod they took some aspects from the G1 toy.

18:08 I have the game. You unlock "Hot Shot" in the Arena mode Dam 6 (level 24?) after you beat him in combat (he's corrupted by dark energon). His weapons loadout is laser energy for ranged and plasma for melee. His level up perks are plasma rounds (ranged can also inflict plasma with laser), Heavy handed (can land critical hits in melee), and I either unwavering persistence (regains energy and health quickly) or power longevity (longer energy amount). He is a light figure and can move through small areas, and has a shield that can be used in melee combat mode to block enemy attacks (hold left click on the back of the DS), though it removes amounts of energy when the shield is hit, and will not work if there is no energy to use. His shots are pretty powerful and so is his melee, but my god is he weak. He couldn't even get his own voice actor, they reused sideswipe I think. His quotes mention his talent, the players eye for talent, and being paired with Kup in battle (you get two character loadouts for the game) even though there is no Kup!

People who blame Hotrod obviously didn't watch the movie, also Hotrod didn't kill prime be got him killed, but then again Optimus got himself killed He could have taken out Megatron but instead he monologues, he gave Megatron 9 seconds,
It'd always bothered me whenever hot rod became rodimus prime, he looks the same.
LK Hot Rod always gave off this innocent atmosphere for me. Idk but if I was to guess I'd say because of the eyes.

The live action hot rod where his g1 form was kept make his face look like it’s constantly scowling and angry and a little scary too. Like if I was a kid and I saw that live action robot standing in front of me, I’d probably start crying.

technically the evil rodimus was Unicron thats why the beard. Before the beard came he was Hotrod he handed the matrix of leadership back to the elders. Then he encounters Overlord who forces the Matrix of Chaos into hotrod making him Rodimus Cron aka Rodimus Unicronus

Worst bay design goes to soundwave for me. Hotrod isn’t horrible here he’s just not hot rod. Be cool if they used a more unknown name like they did for barricade.

Even when the films makes an actual design that could be seen as a Transformer, like the movie design of Hot Rod is probably the best robot design in ALL FILMS.................but is just NOT HOT ROD, like.....you have to messed up someway XD, I read a comment saying there is just no win with these films and he is totally right XD.
