Mark takes a look at "Cyclades: Legendary Edition".
In the Cyclades archipelago, off the shores of a divided Greece, players develop their cities and compete for supremacy under the watchful gaze of the gods. In Cyclades: Legendary Edition, designers Bruno Cathala and Ludovic Maublanc have reworked the Cyclades base game and its many expansions to make gameplay more dynamic and fluid.

I could house rule a lot of the elements in this in my set since I have everything. However, the big thing to me is the modular map. The water spaces being much larger and covering more area making ports and boats much more important. I read the new rules and I really like how they Implemented everything from the expansions that worked and consolidated it to be smooth.
glad I never got the game before! Im all in on this!
Looks great! Seems like an instant buy for me (huge original Cyclades fan). Most of my concerned with original Cyclades have been addressed!
This looks amazing. Do you know if it is KS only? Or will it be sold in retail as well?
Most probably retail too as it was the case for the other matagot games like the recent revamp of kemet.
this is not a matagot game though. not anymore.
@@ianw0ng wow good point, I had missed that
If you read the FAQ, it says it will go retail too
i need this nowwwww omg
As one of my favorite games, I was 95% sure I would back this...after seeing this rolled out and reading the rulebook and slight changes to mechanics, I am happy to report I will NOT be backing this and will be happily playing the original and the Titans expansion. Plus the look of the game took a big step
backwards, the exponential bidding mechanic is not better, and the mercenaries really affects the stability. The game accelerates too fast with the auto building for each God without paying. The game is already volatile enough and all these changes made it moreso. Thats why they had to extend to 3 metropolises. Most of the other rule changes can be adapted to the base game or Titans if desired. Obviously the minis and modular board is good but given the steep price of KS, its not worth it to me.
I was hoping to hear how each god functioned in this edition.
Will the dice tower review the game before the campaign is over? That would be great!
How would you rate the 2player version of this game?
is it wrong that I like the original artwork better?
Nope, you're not wrong... I don't own the original so not just defending "my copy". I just think this art direction feels disney- ish. Gods have to much of a modern, slick, superhero feel. Now I have to decide do I pursue a cheap original version or pick this one even though the art is less appealing.
But looks like they provided the women with some more clothing, which is great, because i sold my copy because of that
@@lauragalactica4235 Guess I didn't pick up on that as I quickly looked at some images on BGG but I can understand that concern. Ares is the one that I remember really thinking the original is better. Also felt the board looked more mystical/epic. All subjective personal opinion for sure. Just wanted to be wowed by this one...
The original does look better
@@lauragalactica4235 LOL
Homage is pronounced “oh-MAJ”, with emphasis on the second syllable, and a soft J like in the French name Jacque. And Cyclades is pronounced “kee-KLAH-dess”, with the emphasis on the second syllable.
I agree that a greek C is actually a K like in okay, but modern tradition also anglicised centaur for instance. It would be weird to call this 'Kee..'
@@henrikwakman7776 centaur and other words like cyclops are Greek derived, but are English words. Fully absorbed into our language. So we anglicize them. Cyclades is not an English word, and is the name of a Greek location, so it still gets pronounced in Greek.
From wikitionary: pronunciation /saɪkleɪdz/, /ˈsɪklədiːz/
I don't like that they're talking like speeding things up is automatically a good thing
It could be a case of "worse betterment"
Really don't like the new box art design. The original had a nice wink to the greek pronunciation, "kyklades", with the columns behind the 'c's.
Thanks for the preview guys but come on, are you telling me that a channel this big can still still screw up the music to a video so badly? The music to this video was really annoying and distracting as hell.
I like it.
Lousy board. Is that supposed to be an upgrade?
It's in prototype form.
With smooth and intuitive gameplay, simple rules, and a clear iconography that allows for a quick immersion in the game, beginners can easily master the game. These cards and miniatures make the gaming experience even better.
