I really like the “base” options in trucks especially, and I appreciate the investment manufacturers have put into the low trims to make them look a lot better than a typical base truck.
Take a closer look at that hub at 2:43. The passenger side is no longer manually lockable, even though it looks like it. It is labeled that it can NOT be turned. And if you look close, it even says it in small type. Drivers side is still manually lockable. I asked Ford dealership about this and they said most SD 4x4 changed to this in 2023. No one has been able to explain why this change was made. Opportunity for you to reach out to a Ford engineer and ask.
@nicktracy4118 In the video? Yes. It does. That's my point. They were having issues with dragging the front air dam, which would be solved with the XL Off Road instead of an STX with FX4, because it has the short air dam and 33s.
You are probably new to our hill tests, or missed the part about this being a dealer loan. We will not scrape a dealer loan. Which is why we took were so cautious. We have several episodes of super duty’s going up our hill if you want to see manufacturer provided examples. We also take these as slow as possible to test mechanical grip. Thanks for watching.
Misdirected to call out the EPA as being the cause of anything mileage related on a SD pickup. EPA doesn't do mileage estimates on Superdutys. It is Ford that made the decision to add the large air dam so say "Thanks Ford"; not "Thanks EPA". Ha.
I have this same setup. I’ve been trying to decide what to do with that air dam. It does hit everything. Even parking curbs in parking lots. I also wonder about the false locked hub
My only gripe no rear A/C which is needed in a big cab; more for us here in the South FLA. But the STX in the F150 does have a/c ducts on the back of the rear console. Great vid fellas
I have this exact truck for the 2023 year model. That air dam will take some punches and come back to its orginal form. I've sunk it to the frame several times and its just fine. The skid plate does not cover the trans cooler. So with the long wheel base its easy to damage it when going over the top off things. I definitely dinged mine up to the point of having to replace it. 800 bucks.
I'm not impressed by the fact that the XL with STX package costs more then a standard XLT. Just get an XLT and the standard 7.3L V8. I'm not sure why the 6.8 even exists.
@@TexasTruckChannel I was just saying since you had the dually with no locker you should try the single wheel long bed since it has a locker. Also new subscriber haven’t fully dived into your channel yet.
It’s not an off road truck by any means even tho it has the fx4 package but the truck weighs 7/8 thousand pounds. Even if you added tires the truck is way to heavy

I've had the XL off-road for a year now and I'm in love with it, plenty of power and looks like a real truck
XL Off Road Package will give you the shorter front air damn, 33s, skid plates etc. Not available with STX appearance though.
Yes it is. Maybe not the 33’s but they have the fx4 for stx
@nicktracy4118 FX4 and XL off-road package are not the same thing. Fx4 is only skid plates and diff shocks.
@@ksrebel09 the truck literally says fx4 on it

Trim it with a cut off tool.
Pricing is still astronomical. I paid a hair under 50k otd for my 2020 7.3 stx in Sept of 2020.
Interest rates were way lower. Which means people could afford to pay and a lot less were getting repossessed
I just paid 54 for my 24 stx ttl, out the door.
I appreciated the methodology, showing the different traction modes in action. Learned something about traction control
Thanks!
Off road package on the xl is a better mini tremor then the fx4 package. Better offfroad features and less comfort built
The F250 V8 has so much power it is ridiculous. Take that hill with a little bit of momentum, boys.

Came here to say this!
I'd get the XL off road and FX4 packages with 4.30 gears.

This would have been a better test with the XL off road package. Much better package for super duty off roading.
Is that lower valance really make that big of a difference on MPG? A 6.8L with 4.30 gears, MPG and Off-Road test would be cool.
Paid 55k for mine love it!
I think you’d make it a lot farther in 2wd if you slow it down and ease up on the gas
Bro put gas in it !!!!! Fill it up !!!!!

I believe the 6.8 is standard on the XLT now.
Do a long bed f250 or f350 see if you can get the diesel
He have covered the 22 and 23 Power Stroke in previous episodes, we should have the 24 soon!

Listen to that 10r80 whine away
It is not an r80
@@scottydog62 correct. 10r100
That thing is a joke. That would be zero fun to take of road.
This what was a waste of time, truck too low, and not the right tires for off road

Shows what to expect from a stock truck 🛻
Change the front air dam and it would have made it up.
Power Wagon don't care.
Still the king.
So lame everybody keeps calling the ls knockoff "godzilla"....the only godzilla is a nissan r-32,33,34,35
😂😂😂😂 another comedian
@foxbodyguyeightyeight3672 nope...facts.
If I was trying to be funny I'd call the 7.3 pepe....considering it's made in mexico.
You guys don't know how to drive 😂
You guys probably don't understand our testing method 😂
Yup, lose all momentum. Should have never watched this.
Wondering how long they been gay damn ford guys
Not wondering how long you have been trolling behind the keyboard. Thanks for watching!
