Did you need to use the riser for the HM3X for the Eotech 512?

Just got the 512 at Primary Arms, but doesnt have the screw mount on the left side of optic. Does this mean i have the older model(pre 2017) that had thermal drift issues? How do i tell if i have the newer model(2018 onward)? Just want to make sure i got the most recent version… 🤔
I know sometimes, a manufacture date is included on the underside of the optic.
Your serial number may also be a way to tell, as I believe you can contact EOTech directly and get information on your optic via your SN.

@@RangeDay Looks like i got the newest one. Has May 2021 date on bottom and serial#. I also did online registration. New ones dont have the screw adjustment…
On the highest setting and when looking through it in an indoor setting, do you notice any blurring?
I do. However, I can’t say if that’s the sight or from me. I do have minor astigmatism which May effect that result.
But even in an outdoor setting a rarely use the highest setting, if I ever do.

It mounts straight onto a 1913 pic rail and is secured via a screw.
Mine came with a thumb screw and a hex screw for the owner to choose. But I’ve heard they do not include both anymore.
Is the reticle pixilated? Just bought one and never owned one?

The reticle isn’t pixilated, but it can be a little fuzzy when focusing on it. When using it, if you focus on your target, and not the reticle, the reticle will be clear. The sight is designed to focus downrange one not on your reticle! Good question 💪🏽
I called Eotech and they said as of the first of this year they stopped putting the thumbscrew in with the 512 and two other models models
I suppose I can see why. People probably like the Allen screw more for a low profile side (at least that’s why I do), but I liked that they included both before to give you the option.
How long is the base im waiting for my 512
The length is by far one of the downfalls of the 512, but that compromise is worth it to us for the AA battery. It boasts about a 5 and a half inch length which does take up a lot of rail real estate. However, that being said, we currently have the 512 set up on a 10.5” AR, with the viewing window directly above the mag well, and we still have room for a light pressure pad on the top rail, with a folded down MBUS front sight. Hope this helps!

Anything that has a long enough section of 1913, this thing can mount on no issue.
The only difference may be the EO reticle may not be designed for 9mm. The model I have has a reticle specific to a 5.56 and a 50/200 zero. So you can still zero it, but only the center dot May be useful.
Trijicon RMR type 2 for a 19X or EOTech for AR?
Or Holosun for both and use the rest for ammo, I hate to buy non American made but the brakes, rotors, suspension and tons of other components on every car in America are made in China, even if everyone chooses to ignore it.
If you can afford the extra cost, we will always recommend the RMR and the EOTech, but you hit it on the head. Even the parts for American made or American assembled products come from other countries. It sucks that's the way it is.

You can’t go wrong with the buy once cry once. You’ll never have to buy another optic if you go with the best. We completely agree.
This or the aimpoint pro? And i am in law enforcement so this will get used on duty. My main goal is close quarter combat setup?
Hey Tomahawk Jo! First off: thanks for serving in law enforcement. You all never get enough respect or credit in today’s culture.
As for the optics: both are battle tested and nearly indestructible. So for reliability, you can’t go wrong with either. For battery life, the Aimpoint has longer battery life, since it takes more battery power to power the holographic reticle on the EOTech. So that’s something to consider.
The EOTech is parallax free, so the reticle is more accurate in unusual or uncomfortable shooting positions which may occur in tight quarters. We like the larger reticle on the holographic sight because it helps with fast target acquisition.
At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference. Both are reliable and great choices. The law enforcement officers we know and have spoken with run EOTechs on their service rifles because that’s their preference, but again, it comes down to what you like.
If it were us, we’d go with the EOTech. We are not LE or military, and that’s just our recommendation as well-versed civilians.

@@tomahawkjo8574 if I could put my 2 cents in. Eotech is the way especially for kicking in doors. CQB is pretty much what this reticle is for.

If 512s weren’t so expensive, I’d buy one
They aren’t cheap, that’s for sure. But in my opinion, it is definitely worth it if you can save up!
@@RangeDay the thing is with me, is I have an astigmatism. And I had to settle for a Romeo 5. And the 512s are just so much better and clear for me, I’ll eventually get one, it’s just gonna take some time

@@C-P_ELG I'm doing the same thing as you, The price is great but it is old style, Do i want to add almost $200 for a newer style or go with this. I almost bought it to days ago. I think smart money says get it.
@@gatormcklusky5850 lol I feel your pain. I'm currently looking at 512 vs 518. I'm probably going to fork up a little $$$ and get the 518. HOWEVER, that $400 518 price tag is tempting.
I plan on getting magnifiers down the line so 518 would be better in that the buttons are on the side. I don't care about Night vision so the other eotechs don't concern me.
I'm going to do more research though. I'm sure you know, beware of counterfeits prevalent in sites like eBay, Amazon, etc.

Im torn between this and the acog
Both are great battle tested optics. EOTechs are great for close to intermediate ranges and ACOGs are better for intermediate and further ranges. Depending on where you live, it may depend on sight distances. If you live in an urbanized area we’d recommend EOTech, although ACOGs would still be great.

I’d agree. Having the option between the thumb screw and Allen screw doesn’t seem like it would be that big of a deal to keep.
However, I’m definitely not an expert on distribution of something like that screw at a large scale either. Seems like missed opportunity though.
NO thumb screw in my brand new box ... and ... I can NOT get the batterie cover off .. yes I lifted up the lever .... is this glued on ??? ,,,, Like a virgin ???
Maybe a faulty unit? If the battery cover won’t come off I would definitely report back to EOTech.
I know sometimes mine is finicky, but I can usually lift the lever, slide it forward and it comes loose pretty easily.
You guys should let people know eotech is great for people with stigmatism in in their eyes That’s for the extra $ you don’t wanna spend but should
