The demon prince of hell series was one of my personal favorites to have been done on the series and we even started with the biggest 2 of the layers of the underworld. I hope you understand the discrepancies of audio quality and some formatting of the videos considering the time frame in which it was recorded. From the ancient religion explained series to more general mythology and folklore explanations, by far and a way the more demonic side of my channel is the most interesting to me. Not all entries have an aspect of smt lore or persona lore, but the ones that do I left in for the sake of archiving and keeping the full original video diving into the demons on the channel. The Christian demons of smt still have some yet to add. Diving into the more ancient religion explained aspect of these fallen angels will be a big part of the series. There is much more to each of these sins than initially meets the eye and I hope it sheds some light on the biblical demons in scripture and what they represented to the people of the time. Enjoy the demons, from Beelzebub lord of the flies, to the prince of darkness lucifer himself. In all of the layers of hell there are but a few demons that hold the title of prince. Representing the seven deadly sins these great princes are evil incarnate and embody everything immoral within the human spirit. Today we will be diving deep into the seven beings that rule over the unfathomable planes of hell. Each with their own story, domain, and of course, primary mode of torturing humans. Each entry will shed more light on not only the demonic horde we are to fight against, but also the very nature of a person’s soul, and how easy it is to fall into a life of sin. Knowledge is power however, so let’s learn what we can about those who would see us suffer. Without any further ado, let’s talk about the seven princes of hell.

In a secular age where respect for one's beliefs is rare, it's not only refreshing but to an extent also reassuring to have someone who goes the extra mile to make it feel okay to hold our beliefs when no one else does

For all the times Atlus continues to give us, it's still interesting how rare specific princes of hell either get little appearence or just about none while the 3 obvious Princes (or 4 depending on how you look at Satan and Lucifer). I wouldn't mind if SMT one day did create a demon boss looking of Leviathan and Mammon. Heck, I wouldn't mind a recreation of Asmodeus. I do kinda miss seeing the Lucifer look, but it is what it is.

Also, I don't know why but adding the enter combat sound from Fear and Hunger to transition from one demon prince to another is such a nice attention to detail. That short but eerie sound will be forever ingrained in my mind ☠

Awesome compilation, I enjoy learning more about these demons; and these are full of well informed and deep information about each demon prince. This really taught me that there's so many conflicting and contrasting stories on each demon, as well as many different perspectives on them.
I read a different version of the Belphegor true love story where he possesses a man's body and lives with a wife who leaves him in severe debt from her luxurious lifestyle. I don't think it's a canonical text though but it was fun!
I see that smt includes other princes and kings too... i wonder if they will give those ones more epic scenes as well!

While many Christians and Jews know of Leviathan and Behemoth very few of us know of ZIZ. As Leviathan is a sea serpent and Behemoth is a monster of the land; Ziz is a creature of the air. Ziz is described as such: "The Ziz is as monstrous of size as Leviathan himself. His ankles rest on the earth, and his head reaches to the very sky.
It did once happen that travelers on a vessel noticed a bird. As he stood in the water, it merely covered his feet, and his head knocked against the sky. The onlookers thought the water could not have any depth at that point, and they prepared to take a bath there. A heavenly voice warned them: "Alight not here! Once a carpenter's axe slipped from his hand at this spot, and it took it seven years to touch bottom." The bird the travelers saw was none other than the Ziz. His wings are so huge that unfurled they darken the sun. They protect the earth against the storms of the south; without their aid the earth would not be able to resist the winds blowing thence."
By having Ziz being part of the Bible we again see the arch type of the Trinity and also have a personification of a base element - Earth (Behemoth), Wind (Ziz) and Water/Sea (Leviathan).
The Biblical passages referring to Ziz are: "Psalms 50:11 'I know all the birds of the mountains and Zīz śāday [וְזִיז שָׂדַי] is mine' and Psalms 80:13"The boar from the forest ravages it, and zīz śāday feeds on it'"
As is the case often, the translation from Hebrew and/or Aramaic is lost. Often in English the translations are the ambiguous "beasts" and referred to as neither singular nor avian.
The Jewish aggadot say of the Ziz: "As Leviathan is the king of fishes, so the Ziz is appointed to rule over the birds. His name comes from the variety of tastes his flesh has; it tastes like this, zeh, and like that, zeh."
The only reason that I know about Ziz is that I am a Christian from the Middle East (I am Maronite; an Eastern Church which is part of the Catholic Communion) that uses the Peshitta which is the standard Aramaic (the actual language Jesus spoke) translation of the Bible.
"The Peshitta (Classical Syriac: ܦܫܺܝܛܬܳܐ or ܦܫܝܼܛܬܵܐ pšīṭta) is the standard version of the Bible for churches in the Syriac tradition, including the Maronite Church, the Chaldean Catholic Church, the Syriac Catholic Church, the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, the Malabar Independent Syrian Church (Thozhiyoor Church), the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, the Assyrian Church of the East and the Syro-Malabar Church."
And since Aramaic was the everyday language spoke by the Jews of Jesus' time and is related to Hebrew (parts of the Old Testament are in Aramaic the language of the author) it is able to convey the original meaning of Biblical passages better than English. To understand what I mean how would you translate the story of Jonas and the Whale to the Amer-Indian Tribes based around the Grand Canyon. They are in a desert and the only bodies of water are around the Colorado River and its tributaries. They have no concept of oceans, whales and sea crafts. So a litteral translation is impossible in their languages.

Am I the only one who noticed that in Persona 5, the Gluttony representative was obsessed with money, while the Greed character was connected to food? I thought that was pretty clever, since those two Sins are pretty similar if you're not meticulous about them.

Abaddon is weird because it's both a demon and a place. In Revelations it is said Satan is cast into Abaddon. That's all I can remember right now
@@glutineclassico yes just as some Bible translations say "you can't serve God and Mammon" instead of "you can't serve God and money." I think the demon princes are conceptual as much as they are tangible.

Talking about how The Divine Comedy isn't Christian canon, when, in most kinds of Christianity neither are any of these demons
The Bible makes mention of Satan, Abbadon, Mammon, Beelzebub, among others, but i think there is room for debate as to what they are when mentioned in these contexts.
I can't imagine why 1/3 of the heaven turning on God can possibly be "sure to succeed", since, you know, you are still outnumbered 2 to 1

What about God? Isn't it technically sinful too? Is it immune to judgement because of being the creator? I don't know much about religion but I'm sure it at least felt wrath and pride at some point or another, it's the hypocrisy of the thing that gets to my nerves. Casting people to eternal suffering for sin while the creator itself can sin without consequence? Bruh
Sin is defined as acting against God, who cannot act against his own interests.

Edit: another thought is that Lucifer being able to "play music" at god's room means that Lucifer himself have the power of creation, cause when there was nothing first god created song and then there was light. If Lucifer is "the minister of music" means he is the minister of creation
