Just went back to UO and I didn't know about this trick. I saw your message on discord and was waiting for your video. Thanks mate awesome and valuable content!
I'm sorry I'm being slow, but what is the point of doing this? Do you keep the skill gains you made while you were nerfed, and then they apply to your higher level when you leave the dungeon?
A few applications. If you are training magery for example if you nerf your skill down to be able to gain off 4th circle, they cast faster and use less mana so you can get more skill checks in the same amount of time.
@@WafflesMcGregor @Waffles McGregor Thank you. I did watch it again, but I'm still confused about the "train up to 120". So, when you nerfed down to 43, you kept recasting until you were back up to 120? So, your first gain at the new "43" skill would be what? 43.1, or 116.1? I am not sure how the gain works while nerfed. I hope that makes sense. Thank you again. I've been watching this whole series and really enjoying it!
@@WakkasLove There is "real skill" which is your characters actual skill level, vs modified skill which basically takes the games modifier and applies it against your "real skill" (This trick modifies your real skill downward, but you can also increase skill by using jewelry/equipment to boost it up as well!). By dropping your "modified" skill down to a lower level, you can gain skills based off of that level activity, but the gains are applied to your real skill. So, if you're 110 magery, normally you need to cast an 8th circle spell to gain .1 real skill. But if you use this trick to nerf your skill down to 50, you can use a level 4 or 5 circle spell to gain .1, and it still adds on to your real skill. Gains with or without this trick modify your real skill, this trick just allows you to get gains on easier stuff. The game is basically deciding whether or not you get a gain based off of what your modified skill is vs the required activity, but the gains apply to your real skill. You can see "Real skill" vs modified skill by toggling it in the skills menu in both classic and EC.
It’s my first attempt at a guide video, let me know what you think!
Great vid Waffles. Thanks for sharing the info.
