Hi Jeannie!! I wanted to come on here real quick to say that I love you!! And, I can’t wait to watch this video to see what kind of snacks you and Mama Mai are eating. I will definitely let you know what I’m going to try. Love you Jeannie!! 😍😘
Love when mama Mai speaks in Vietnamese. I think it would be cool to have the subtitle translation rather than asking her to just speak English - we should be able to embrace and learn the language.
I agree. It rubbed me the wrong way when she yelled at her mom to speak English and said "we speak English here"... this whole episode came off very rude
“Let me tell you something Mama Mai is very smart I’m thinking about Caucasians when they go pick up the snacks especially for Asians I don’t trust them” this women needs her own podcast she’s so damn funny man idk how Jeannie deals with her 😭
Haha I was wondering, why she didn't get the snacks that they usually get! They probably don't know what to get!! lol Like Mama was like "this isn't a snack, this is usually with rice". ^_^
I love it when both Jeannie and mama Mai speak in Viet! I’m a bilingual myself, and hearing another fellow bilingual oddly makes me proud. Well, Paul and the team will need to work a little harder on subtitles 😅😬
Let Mama Mai speak her native language, just put subtitles on the page during editing or continue to let Jeannie translate. I actually really like that.
I don't understand what she's saying but I enjoy it when mama Mai speaks in her native language 😃😃🥰. She is a pure vibe. Love her. And yes, thanks for showing to us that no matter what might have happened (the disagreement) between you & a loved one you can still love again & even better. I'm holding on to this lesson forever.
I actually love, when Your mom speaks in Vietnamese. Jeannie def seems to still suffer from trauma about maybe having pressure to speak English, but your fam LOVES it. We should embrace it and not chastise her for it.
Episodes like this is exactly why Hello Hunnay is the highlight of every week for me! I LIVE for this channel! I mean this was funny IN-A-MOTHA-F!!! I didn't even know they had green tea kit-kats. I grew up eating African food & snacks bcuz my father (who I still don't talk to) is African. And even tho I haven't seen or talked to my father in 10+ years, my momma (who's NOT African, just African American) still carries on that tradition & still cooks those African dishes that I grew up eating from when I was a baby & still now to this day (not ALL the time but like every now & then). And I'm grateful to her for doing that. Thanks for sharing your Asian snack haul with us Jeannie!!! 💚💚💚
Jeannie: "don't say the letter 'H'.. it's silent. Mama Mai: okay, when you drink Chinese... 😶 LMAOOO😂 you two are so funny together. I see a lot of change and growth in you both from when you used to film together. It really makes me happy to see! ❤️❤️
I love finding or buying things I had as a kid, especially to share it with my kids. It's so cool to show them things we used to have or do. I just recently purchased Urban Riders roller skate shoes. Had them as a kid and now I have a pair for my son and myself. It brings back so many memories
Man, this reminded me of the snacks my friends used to let me try when we were younger. The rice paper candies, those dried plums, etc. I've always had friends of different nationalities and ethnicities, to this day! I love trying new foods/flavors/experiences! This was a great episode!
Mama Mai: “why don’t you ask me to go pick up better than them bc their Caucasian.. how do they know which one you like? You ask the wrong person!” 😂😂😂😂 Mama Mai is something else. I’m so here for Mama Mai & Jeannie’s relationship! ❤️
died laughing during the “herb” part 😆 but shout out to all the asian americans who grew up eating these snacks! mine were haw flakes, white rabbit candy, tamarind candy, avocados with milk and sugar, dried mangoes, dried cuttlefish, shrimp chips, etc
Põa (Paul) the voice of reason😅 I laughed so much in this episode😂😂 Jeannie in work-mode and Paul reminding we are still recording😆 what would we do without Paul?!I need to try that green tea kitkat! I love green tea, hope we have those somewhere in South Africa
There must be at least one Asian grocery store in South Africa, right? Lol. Where do the Asians in SA get their food? Actually, I was surprised to see a boba/bubble tea stand inside a food hall in Capetown. Hope you can find green tea KitKat and other snacks. There are a lot of yummy Asian snacks!
Yum. I would try all of them just at least to see what they tasted like. I just want to let you and your Madre know how much I enjoy watching both of you and I'm so happy that you two are working on your relationship. My daughter and I haven't spoke since September and it's killing me inside. So I hope and pray that we're able to make amends as you two have thank you so much for everything that you show us in your life. God bless both of you and all your family!
I haven’t had the chance to try Vietnamese snacks, but my boyfriend introduced me to Vietnamese cuisine🤤. Chả giò and Bánh hỏi Bò nướng lá are my favorite!!!!! (I hope I spelled those right, I’m still learning lol😅)
The dried shredded squid is something I grew up on. They have a huge bag at Costco that is so good! My parents taught me to dip that in lemon and sriracha. So goodd
I'm glad to see the two of them together. I was concerned it was going to be a long time before they resolved the issue they had during the holidays. And...I wouldn't have even touched one of those "snacks." I'm beyond super sensitive to smells. Anything with a mild scent (according to others) is overwhelming for me. So, no Asian snacks for me, but watching them try them was fun.
I would love for Mama Mai to speak more Viet in your videos (w/ subtitles, of course). I see more of her authentic personality when she speaks her native tongue.
"If she's acting wierd she's having Cognac right now"....."it's 3 in the afternoon" ...-whatever! Lolol I giggled too much at that almost made me feel bad cause I be tipsy by midday most days but whatever lol
I'm LOVING Mama Mai!! Oh my goodness. She is both BEAUTIFUL and HILARIOUS! When she ever made that face when you said you were cooking. . . . VERY FUNNY! Enjoy your time together. 😉 love your videos! 🤗

I was born and raised in Hawaii. Asian culture is so deeply intertwined there. I grew up snacking on most of these things.
