Hajime Kashimo finally went up against Ryomen Sukuna, It’s been almost 50 chapters since we’ve been foreshadowed to this matchup and it’s currently happening as of chapter 237. I’ve already made an entire video months ago covering the versus battle between both of these sorcerers from the past, but this video’s a little bit different, in this video i’ll be going over why exactly Kashimo is going through these insane lengths just for a fight with the King of Curses where he’s already resigned himself to die even if he wins. Why he’s willing to not only die right now, but why he gave up his other life 400 years ago just for the possibility of smoke and a fight with someone stronger in the future, to reach a greater understanding of himself and what it means to truly be strong and manifest reaching insane levels of power in Jujutsu Kaisen. The only complaint i have is that we didnt see more of a fight from Kashimo. I know the point was to show just how much more powerful Sukuna was than Kashimo, but idk. I mean, his cursed technique was hyped up as an all out one time use ability, and we hardly got a chance to see it in action 😭

Heian era sukuna would 1 shot gojo, Kashimo demolished the sukuna that gojo was fighting so I guess that shows you he's in the upper level of fighters in that state.

@@marcioamaral7511 That's straight cap, and anyone who actually read the manga would know that. The 2004 anime really fucked with popular perceptions of Bleach. Not to say there weren't fumbles in the Lost Agent and TYBW arcs, but boy did he write stronger characters and give them more time to breathe.
Not to mention, Kubo was way better at breadcrumbing characterization than Akutami could ever hope to be.

@@marcioamaral7511 2016 was...a period in time, and since then, the Bleach fandom, or at least those who didn't stay true, have come back around. I should know, I'm one of them. I reread the entire manga plus Can't Fear Your Own World back in 2021, and boy did my perspective change. Up until late TYBW, the manga was pretty much perfectly paced and plotted, and even the later issues can be attributed to Kubo's physical and mental health issues.
I didn't expect Sukuna to give more therapy sessions, but I'm always happy to see it

There's no justification for Kashimo getting no-diffed. It doesn't show Sukuna's strength, it just wastes a character with the most unique cursed energy in the story for no good reason.

I still wanted kashimo to put up somewhat of a fight at least. I get the message behind the fight I just was expecting more outta him and the way people been hyping him up I was just expecting more.
he put up a better fight that Gojo, what do you mean? He immediately beat Sakuna so bad that he was forced to go 100% and even drop Megumi body. Gojo couldnt do that, he was being toyed with the entire time. Gojo even realized that which is why he said what he said to Geto.

I honestly LOVED Kashimo’s conclusion because I feel like Kashimo found a better understanding of fighting what it means to truly be strong, he values combat and puts his power and well-being first. But the way he gives respect to those stronger than him that lets Kashimo get a better understanding of himself and others in his own way

Some might find the meaning of their lives by challenging themselves enough against comparable opponents. Others might find that meaning crushing weaker beings. Sukuna is someone who finds vitality in fighting others who give their all while fighting, independently if they are much weaker than him or somewhat equal (of course, he will find more satisfaction the closer the opponent is to his power). In the case of Kashimo, he wanted to die fighting someone equal or stronger than him. He could have fought Ryu, but then Kashimo wouldn’t have known his true limits for:
1. Ryu was younger, so Kashimo could have lost for being older and sicker.
2. Even if Ryu was somewhat close to being his equal, he wouldn’t have been the strongest opponent in history to face.
Even if Kashimo was young, Ryu wouldn’t have been the GOAT, because Sukuna was. Kashimo didn’t want someone close to him, but if possible: someone far superior than him. Hakari and Ryu were strong enough to push him towards using his CT, but not superior enough to humble him. Kashimo wanted to die against the GOAT, and he did, because he wanted to see someone that could show him the kind of superiority he felt against the opponents of his era. His wish was fulfilled. Not only did he achieved his dream of dying against the GOAT, but he also got to understand the meaning of power by Sukuna: don’t isolate yourself only because you are the strongest, but realize that those weaker than you that died by your hand went down knowing they were facing a legend. Kashimo understood that those “beneath” him were valuable because without them to defeat, he wouldn’t have been the strongest of his time. He was never alone, for his existence was shared by those who affirmed their existence against the best just as he affirmed his existence against the GOAT.

Personally, I think Sukuna may be "correct", but he's still fundamentally wrong in his understanding of being the strongest. While yes, he may be right that to walk the path of the strongest as he, Gojo, and Kashimo walk it is to set oneself functionally apart from others, and that forming conventional bonds with others may not be fully possible, I believe Sukuna's way lacks any understanding of what it means to connect with others or show compassion. Gojo and Kashimo both understand this, hence why they long for it, but Sukuna just doesn't, so he can't understand them and believes adulation of the strongest and the display of one's strength is that love.
Personally, I view Gojo and Sukuna as two individuals who attained nirvāna through their pursuit of strength, but Sukuna's is lacking in the understanding of sunyata (emptiness) and pratityasamutpada (dependent origination), since he still sets himself as a presence apart from others and doesn't understand or appreciate his connection to the wider world. Gojo, for all his flaws, did understand this and approached the world in a way both deeply connected, yet removed. It makes his loss all the more tragic IMO.
Finally, this whole discourse is why I think Yuuji will ultimately triumph, since he isn't following the path of the strongest or trying to gain strength for its own sake. He's just an angry boi who seeks strength to preserve the connections he still has and to avenge those lost. He's not playing Sukuna's game or speaking his language, and Sukuna genuinely hates him, which is unusual for the King of Curses.
EDIT: This all is why I think Sukuna is an intentionally flat character, and he's a character I love to find absolutely pathetic. Because he ignores any meaningful connections he may have to the world around him, Sukuna cannot grow or change the way most people can, hence comparisons to a calamity. It's a very shallow way to live, if I must be honest, but it's clearly all he cares to know.
EDIT 2: I find it really interesting that, at least in my view, Sukuna never really answered Kashimo's question as to why he incarnated himself as cursed objects to last through the centuries, since even according to his own worldview, it honestly makes no sense for him to put in that effort. He lived, sampled what humans have to offer, and he should have been fine with that, with being the strongest of his era. Clearly, Sukuna hasn't fully grappled with what it means to be the strongest and what he's trying to prove to whom.

Exactly dude, sukuna totally avoided the question as to why he came back in the modern era. In his ideology it makes no sense for him to be in the modern era.
Sukuna being a shallow hedonist is WHY he's such a good and well written character. He doesn't need to have more depth when the basis of the story is other individual characters forming their takes on what Sukuna is as a person only to be wrong once he gains his own agency. He truly is the personification of freedom in a world bound by the pressures of responsibilities as a sorcerer.

I hate when people miss the point of the fight and just call him a “fraud” and say the fight was ass because they can’t accept that the fight wasn’t some grand work of art when Kashimo was never said to be on Sukunas level and was only ever said to be the strongest in his time, not some grand title like “Strongest Sorcerer in History” or “Strongest Sorcerer of Today” he was simply “the strongest in his time” and the Modern Day is already considered one of the strongest eras

I’m Gojo fan. Tbh I could’ve seen more of Kashimo’s fight with Sukuna. 5 ch max should be good to help calm everyone down. And build the hype again when Yuji comes. I was just confused with how short the fight was😅
Keep in mind that Gojo fought a weaker Sukuna who was trying to work around Infinity. The unstoppable force figured out the workaround for the immovable object and only needed one attack to end it. Kashimo just doesn't have that defense and Sukuna powered way the heck up. If anything, it feels a bit more consistent power level wise

I liked the fight, even though it was short. I really like them continuing the discussion of the philosophy of strength that started with Gojo. But I think his cursed technique is really underwhelming, it feels like something Gege came up with the night before he had to send the chapter in.
the cursed technique on paper is ridiculously op, gege could have easily made kashimo super strong but he wanted to end the fight fast so he made the technique very underwhelming. Controlling all electricity is an insane ability

There's one major flaw in this pursuit of being understood. Sukuna is too powerful and is not in their level. They remain lonely as sukuna even says he doesnt understand it. If it were only to satisfy his need to use his maximum power he could have just gone rampage in search for someone to stop him. Otherwise, what's the point of learning this love if death does not save you from being lonely.

Kashimo got hyped up for half the culling games and then got 2 chapters (only about half a chapter of actual fighting between those two) and then got hit with a technique that killed him OFFSCREEN while he was ON SCREEN.
If his goal was to fight the strongest then after his loss to Hikari should have been it for his character
He was fighting a stronger version of sukuna, that recovered from his injuries and could fight at his best in 1 vs 1. After bypassing mugen, Sukuna basically oneshotted gojo and he defeated kashimo with an even stronger tecnique. Why would you think that?

The only think I didn’t like about it is now I don’t know how to scale Kashimo. In base he’s relative to Jackpot Hakari with CT he was putting hands on injured Sukuna before he transformed then got a 4 piece no biscuit when Sukuna did transform. Is he stronger than Yuta or Kenjaku? I wanna say he’s third in the verse now but I can’t really tell.
I would say yes, yuta couldn't kill kenjaku by his own, for me, that means that kenjaku is stronger, and even if that's not true, maki is faster than yuta, yuta heard sukuna chanting, and still he couldn't dodge the WCS, sukuna was whispering when he thorwed the WCS at maki, and maki still could dodge it, for me that means that maki is faster than yuta, sukuna needed to blind kashimo for a moment using kamutoke and then he attacked kashimo from behind and kahsimo stiil reacted and attacked sukuna, maki was speedblitzed by a weaker sukuna 2 times in front of her eyes, that means that kashimo is faster than maki

Kashimo>maki>yuta
Yuta would get speedblitzed by kashimo, and MBA kashimo doesn't need to punch first to send beams at his opponents
I am curious how Kashimo vs Sukuna may have gone if Sukuna didn't essentially inject himself with a steroid bypassing infinity. I mean when Sukuna just says fuck it Imma remove everywhere around you from existence and therefor you as well. Thats kinda not fair? Just sayin. kashimos technique is not a one time use. he can only use it once because it was part of the non negotiable condition of the binding vow with kenjaku. he can only use it against sukuna and only once.

Hes better than gojo. Sakuna toyed with gojo and stayed base form to keep things interesting while they fought. Kashimo forced sukuna to go 100% and even dodged his slashes which impressed sukuna which brought out his strongest move. It’s just that his character was kinda pointless. Like he’s such a minor character it almost doesn’t matter. He really kinda just existed to give Hakari a cool fight and stood around for a bit until he dipped out. He developed sukuna a bit but not in a way I feel couldn’t have been better used elsewhere

Yuta is said to be the strongest modern sorceror after Gojo by both the narrator and Kenjaku with an arsenal of undisclosed copied curse techniques. Both of them beat Kashimo without his CT. Kashimos only claim to fame is a kamikaze CT, other than that he's only decent.
@ahvin4764 honestly i think kashimo wasnt really using his brain in hakari fight and only wanted to overpower him by raw strenght which in hakari case is no good choice considering that he can gamble an immortality for a bit of time if he could stall the fight until immortality runs out im sure he would win easily
