The first time I heard the soundtrack, I had to check to make sure it wasnt Caleb playing BJ, and upon realizing it wasnt him, immediately thought: "He's gonna nail these covers!" He even paused and did the dance breaks and the perfect Expressions. You are brilliant. BJ approves.

The whole point of this song was that the lyrics could be changed from stage production to studio recording to each show. I love this. I got to see it on Broadway back in Sept 2019. It was amazing and I think Alex would love this! You did a good job Caleb!!

I mean the musical themselves changed the lyrics when they performed at the Tony's and the Thanksgiving parade so I kinda ok with it.
Alex Brightman does different lyrics depending on the venue so it's entirely in the spirit of the song.
I think the lyric change is really in character
@@emelsonsabado672 They also changed it for the album, from something like "if you die during this performance it'll keep on going" to "if you die listening to this album it'll just keep on playing". In fact, I believe there's some ad lib dialogue throughout the play that may change from performance to performance.
Breaking the fourth wall is part of this song and on character for BJ, so his character not being self-aware enough to tailor it to the medium would undermine it.
I find it really fitting he changed the lyrics, that happened a lot with this song already based on the context of where it’s being sung
