ACTIVITY: Unknown CASE: GSAF 1993.09.30 DATE: Thursday September 30, 1993 LOCATION: The incident took place on the beach next to the international airport at Mogadishu, Somalia. NAMES: Edward J. I was 8 years old during this war In Mogadishu And was base of US soldiers near our house and the was very good soldier use entertain us n give us some chocolate everyday I still remember how friendly person was
I had just enlisted when this happened, I was fortunate to become a member of the best group of men I will ever know! To all my brothers and operators who gave all that day, you will be remembered and honored. SOCM / 18D
Gone and forgotten, those who returned risked commiting suicide. All to please your warlords, aka ruling blood thirsty president. Every 3 years you start a new conflict and bomb countries. F off mate.
BC FOSTER America dark history killing and invading others land. You even are not from America what did you do to the Native Americans. Let me guess genocide then! Still you feel proud what a shame.
I met Army Ranger, Sgt.Casey Joyce at a party in Plano, TX where he went to High School in 1987. He was a nice, handsome kid. This was all prior to his enlistment and the fate that awaited him. RIP.
Can't help but think about Shugart and Gordon for some reason right now. "Where's the rescue squad?" "We're it." I hesitate to use the word "hero" because in a way to me, its almost putting others on a pillar. When in all actuality, all the men and women of the military are just doing their jobs. That said, MOHR Shugart, Gordon and all the others who died were great men. Outstanding warriors, dare I say, the best of us. I cant even imagine what they went through. Peace to the fallen. Recon.
They knew it was a one way mission to save that pilot. They were both green berets before delta force, masters of combat and killing. They proved that 2 men could beat out an entire army if they had the ammo to do so. They only got over ran because of a lack of ammo. It got to a point they were picking up enemy weapons and shooting those, even worse to a point they were having to resort to hand to hand combat near the end of their lives. They saved that man’s life that day, like true gladiators and warriors.
I am 51 now. Our unit was part of the rescue crew for the Black Hawk Crew, Super 61...It was gruesome and lucky for our squad, none of them could shoot straight. Two Wars later, IRAQ and Afghanistan, a Purple Heart, and a Bronze Star, I am still alive. Physically and mentally just beat up. I miss the men and women I served with. WAR SUX! Retired SFC Airborne Ranger 1ST CAV
How do you want to survive when you are going to a country to kill its people? Would you like someone to come and take you out of your home and you do not respond to him or fight? The Somalis have the right to defend their land.
I was there, including that night. Spent many of my nights on top of the Embassy Compound water tower with a terp and some radios doing the best I could to rain Hell. Most memorable quote "There are no spectators at an ambush". ROE were fucked and the the whole show wasn't what anyone thinks it was. I perfected hate there (their hatred for each other was mind-boggling) and getting over it has taken longer than I expected.

The United States has finally expressed its appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions of Malaysian peacekeepers for saving their soldiers in Mogadishu, Somalia on October 3, 1993. The gratitude was expressed by Tom Kelly, the Acting Assistant Secretary, Bureau Of Political-Military Affairs today, 20 years after the famous incident which formed the basis for the movie “Black Hawk Down.”

Did they tell you what a pointless and forgettable mission that was? I was out of the 82nd weeks before this happened and so glad I was. What a waste of effort and life in such a shithole of a country that IS STILL a shithole of a country rife with murder and mayhem. We accomplished nothing.
When I joined the Army in ‘97 as a 11C and got to my first duty station, my infantry company had a dozen or so survivors and we were trained on new SOP’s because of that. Everything from taking NOD’s, food, ammo etc everywhere. What those guy’s taught me helped me when I deployed to Afghanistan.
If you can find the documentary about Mark Bowden's trip to Mogadishu to research his book- that is absolutely eye-opening. Dude went through some serious stuff in order to get the story right.Obviously, nowhere near what TF Ranger went through, but Mark went waaay above and beyond to get his facts straight.
*God Bless the somali people who survived the invasion* 💪💪☪️☪️🇸🇴🇸🇴 The world will always mock them but they showed more bravery than most people on earth to stand up against a global super power
Both of my cousins Jimmy and Johnny, both Rangers were there. I remember tv stations flocking to my aunties house to interview my auntie and uncle. All of these years later it infuriates me how the government and the cowards in the upper crust of the military sold them down the river. Just like Benghazi, Somalia was no different in the way it was handled. In the end God will have his justice.
Let's hope God is keeping score' if such a being exists, I have my doubts when we slaughter our fellow man in such a way, degrading their lifeless and bloodied bodies for millions to watch.

So we will leave and those men died 4 nothing and they didn't thank the un troops for getting them out, even in the book it mentions they got them out though it's from the perspective of the American soldiers so of course they were pissed why it was taking so long but those un troops deserved an actual part in the movie besides giving water which was correct how they gave it, but they also fought and should be thanked

Can't help but think about Shugart and Gordon for some reason right now.
"Where's the rescue squad?"
"We're it."
I hesitate to use the word "hero" because in a way to me, its almost putting others on a pillar.
WAR SUX!
