I have to say.. i remember when I had my first emtb when they first came out.. there were a some interview with Santa Cruz.. they quoted that they weren't interested in ebikes and they would never produce one.. funny how things change 😂😂😂
A 600 battery on a full power emtb is too small, and it's a pain to ride with a battery extender (lose your bottle cage). I have a Bullitt and I often struggle with range and/or keeping up with with other emtbs when I'm forced to ride on lower power settings. Sadly, an EP801 and small battery makes for a hugely compromised bike.
I run mudguards front and rear when the weather's grim. Not fussed about looking cool or not, having mud being flung at the back of your head is not cool. When you're sat on the bike you cant see the back mudguard anyway ;)
Im with you. The amflow is a better value, lighter and more powerful. Suspension performance might be slightly lacking but you have a lot of room to make improvements and still be under the weight of the santa cruz.
The Vala is available now. The Amflow will be available in ???? I have been riding ebikes for only 2 years but I have found I really do not need more power for what I do, I need good power delivery and range. The Bosch Gen-5 will provide good power delivery and the Vala with the extender will provide the range. And it is available in the US and available now.
I am looking at purchasing a Vala right now. I am not buying it because it is a Santa Cruz, I am buying it because my bike shop carries Santa Cruz. I buy a bike shop, not a brand. I want a good brand (many of those) from a good shop (fewer of those). I look at what brands my shop carries and I select my new bike from those. The people at the shop know me, they have ridden with me, they know how I ride. From that they make suggestions as to what I would like as far as geometry, suspension travel, etc. This makes it a heck of a lot easier to choose what bikes I should look at.
New Rail looks good, but absolutely no reason to change my gen 4 Carbon Rail. It will be great if Bosch makes a new lighter battery for gen 4... but this will not happen, unfortunately. The most interesting thing on new Bosch gen 5 is new purion 400... hopefully, this will be compatible with gen 4 motor.
Gen 5 Rail is ugly compared to gen 4 tbh. Also they use bosch motor is basically same motor with 100 gram less and fatter powertube. So far meh imo, also they created the sag like frame and downtube which takes away Trek rails agressive look. Was looking to sell my gen 4 carbon rail for the new one. Ill just keep it i think
@@filipemonteiro5504 It's a Luna Cycle Apollo. They stopped making it I think. 54lbs and a 1100 Wh battery....I can ride anywhere I have balls enough to go...
I like that Trek is staying with the removable battery platform - that's crucial for us frozen climate emtb'ers

If they do S at 2 x 27.5; why can't they do XXL at 2 x 29? I am 6'4" and prefer full 29.
We buy Santa Cruz for the VPP feel!!! And of course their superb after sales service. I have a 2022 Bronson.

1000% agree. Can't believe so many people are emotional and impractical about it
Closely resembles the Santa Cruz Vala.
I can’t help but listen to all the Santa Cruz talk n think….. yea but the Amflow!

You people or lucky to have it available. Us US customers are getting shafted on both the aglow and pinion front.

Only downside from bosch is the battery layout, how hard is to show 10 lines. Just for the peace on mind.
I’ve both- a mullet and a 29er Levo.
I find the 29er climbs steep techy trails better than the mullet .
Can't find any of the news in North America Trek. Not as a dealer or for the public. Strange...
Pinion MGU IS the future....anything else is a pretender....

Whoever designs a jig to fit any motor to any e-bike is going to be famous….

The bosch batteries are 20% lighter on the gen5
I dont understand whay they are not putting the new 800wh battery with the new cx, santa cruz did the same thing too.
In relation to the security question....why not do a video where someone "steals" Neil's amflow and see how well the trackers etc work in reality
I like more 29 both ...
I like my Trek Fuel EXe alloy
get your facts right in the rail
Any friends here hiring Full Stack Dev? I'm unemployed and itching to get a mtb.
car companies doing ebikes? Polestar is a small company....prolly sell more eebs than cars
Wtb makes saddles with that lip on the back for decades. Just saying

It def not worth between 1 generation. At this pace I’d be looking in 2 or 3 more
@@sety409 Agreed. Plus on papper my gen 4 rail is still full carbon frame, looks nicer and its upgraded to hell. Its prolly worth 20k at this point xD
My old 2019 Powerfly was a much better looking machine and still had fantastic power, not stoked on this new Rail.
My three year old eBike has 160Nm of Torque and can go for hours.....
What bike are you riding?

Bosch can't even make a reliable/durable Gen 2 ffs. I know because I am on my 5th and it is failing. BTW I'm 62
Second ;)
First ;)
