another tip: when inserting a beat into the playlist, don't use the fader to adjust the volume. Throw on Fruity Balance and decrease the gain. This is will actually make the beat come into the DAW at that volume, leaving you MUCH MORE headroom when you go to master.
What about the volume knob in the instrument rack? what that be the same ? Because like most daws has a pre gain level knob. Gain staging should be done using the pre gain and not the fader because its post fader ..
@@shevyjohn9308 Exactly, use the volume knob in channel rack. Acts as pre fader gain control before you hit the mixer. From there, use the plugins gain control or volume multiplier as pre fader for instruments/audio in control rack and the mixer. 🤫
Don’t do this as it adds plugin delay to the track. As the other two said use the channel rack volume knob. It controls the volume before entering the mixer 👌🏼
@@Davo_Deluxe take an EQ and check the volume of the beat when you just turn the fader down. It will still be peaking at 0db or -0.1db. That’s why you should use Fruity Balance because it actually turns the gain down. When you turn your master fader down, it just turns down the output to your headphones/speakers, not the gain itself. And no, it adds extremely little to no delay. I’ve been doing this for years now.
Am from Africa , Cameroon my country I have been following your lessons long time ago and not tired cause the way teaches is so cool and friendly , I love it 😊😊😊
For me the biggest improvement to recording in FL 20.9 is that now FL records the "external input only". This means no more accidental recording of previously recorded tracks when recording multiple takes. The age of muting every single track you recorded is over. I wrote to Image Line about this a year ago, and they actually fixed it.
@@BWC92 Once you select an input, a window should pop up asking you to choose where in the chain you want to record. Select "External input only" and "Don't ask again" to make it default. If the window doesn't pop up, click the grey arrow icon that's above the FX slots in the mixer and select "External input only".
I’m so happy FL made this update. This is the ultimate daw. I deleted studio one because I don’t have to pay every month to record on FL. Much needed update
I always wait to update. Just got my Rode NT1-A. Recorded in FL and worked good but tracks everywhere. Just looked up pro tools. Then searched "How to record vocals like a God in FL Studio' and let auto complete for 20.9 came here. Those are exactly the things needed to make FL a serious recording DAW...Arm track (and assign which was there but had issues). Thanks for sharing! Super excited and thanks for requesting it of them 🙏🙏🙏
The reason why the beat track linked to number 2 in the mixer is because of the default sampler in the channel rack. It is automatically linked to track 1 in the mixer.
LOVE the new recording features. Recording workflow was a definite top 3 reason why I wanted to switch DAWs. I had NO idea this was coming but I'm already fucking with it so hard
I remember in 2018, I used edison to record all the audio the manually place the vocals in. Was such a pain. So happy to see these updates 🙏😅 Great tutorial/ template!
Fl 12 is like the most easiest Daw to use and it’s so smooth with everything it’s not so complicated like I’ve looked at other Daw love your videos thanks Key 👍💯
Hey man I love your content, it’s really helps because someone ppl just assume instead of taking us no knowledge beginners to the beginning smh. Whenever u have time. Was wondering if you can make a video on how to do remix tutorial covers with the original song added like these artists been doing on TikTok and IG. No one hasn’t made a video on it yet.
Can you make a video on how to do a live vocal chain ? I’m using the focusriete 2i2 and I want my artists to be able to hear themselves with the effects while recording without latency from linking the mixer track to the master.
Make sure you unhook your rec track off the master directly and to another mixer channel. It'll remove the FL monitoring and leave you with the little to none latency from the 2i2(assuming you have the buffer rate set optimally) . Apply your fx to the mixer you've got set for recording and voila
*Number 2 because 1 is sometimes used as a click track for metronome where u can control the volume levels of metronome too. Check the option called preview track*
Thank you so much for this key wav! I appreciate and enjoy all of your content. You have honestly helped me become more confident in my recording process.
Very informative. I've been off fl and music for about a year. Log in to hear some of my old stuff earlier this week and theres an update. I downloaded it. Played my songs, recorded a few more, then saw this new update and I'm thinking, I just updated. Looks like it will be worth it though.
Hey man, this video really helped after watching tutorial after tutorial I don't have it all down pat but you taught me the basics and it's definitely a-lot easier to understand, imma sub to your chanel right now you seem like a great guy.
I tracks out to track two because usually you'll automatically have an empty sample channel pre-routed to mixer channel one. You'll have to remove the mixer routing from the sample channel in order to route whatever you want to channel one initially. That's been something that I questioned throughout the years to whether or not they could create an update to wear they could created a purely empty session template, like no sample channels, like the channel setting block is literally empty with nothing.
The recording quality is very good. I'm always curious. It does not mention the importance of the environment in which it is recorded. How much sound absorption and reflection is in your room?

I like how u do the steps while close up ur good bro ima watch more 4sure💪🏽👊🏽💯
There is a Sampler on the channel rack on track one from the start. When you drag the beat in it automatically goes to Track 2 because track 1 it is already taken.
This is nice, It amazing to see that it took Image Line this long to sort out this thing. However, I still prefer to record on Reason or Studio one but Its nice to know that you can have a quick recording session in FL as well.
Yo thank you so much for showing us this. Been watchin tutorials after tutorials and they never explained the basics or go into deep details 🙏🏾✊🏾 Now a quick question. How do I turn off the distortion? Cause whenever I’m recording my mic it distorts and I’m not even yelling into the mic
Great video bro! Just curious, when you're tracking vocals do you ever run them through the LUNA monitor console that comes with Apollo hardware or do you always just track straight into your DAW?
I just track it straight into FL. I think Luna is an amazing DAW, but I usually start with making beats in FL first, and it's just easier to record vocals in the same DAW as I'm building the beat out. I think it's just cause I'm lazy and don't want to open another DAW 😂
Thanks for the reply bro, I've been doing the same thing lol it's just easier to use the same DAW 😂 although I'm trying to expand my horizons with different workflows and techniques so we'll see what happens 👀😁
