I was a busker for a few years (86 - 89 approx) and played in Preston 2 or 3 days almost every week. In both of the bus station subways, sometimes out on Fishergate and other spots in the centre. I have fond memories of the place. In later years my eldest sister lived in Ashton and then my mum moved there next door to her. Both no longer with us sadly. I loved the Flea Mkt too in later times (post 2000). There will always be a place in my heart for Preston and its people.
Red Rose Radio/Rock fm, i remember when it was a creepy run down boarded up church, me n friends once dared to go in n heard spooky organ music being played so we legged it haha. ahhh memories :-D Thanks for sharing x
I was at Preston / Lancashire Poly from 85-88 and well remember some of those locations. The Adelphi pub opposite the campus was always popular, The Ship as well. Red Rose Radio from the church (Alan Beswick had a talk show from there on a Sunday night if I recall - very funny; he hated scousers). I lived in a student house in Frenchwood so had to walk through the town centre each day. Used to go swimming at some old baths close to Friargate ? and frequented the Black Bull many a time. Winckley Square was great also and you couldn't beat Avenham Park down by the river when the sun was out. Happy memories of Preston !!
Just how I remember Preston before going on my adventure...one day I might return.

Crazy how fewer cars there were on the road back then.
That journey would have taken you over half an hour nowadays.
Enjoyed this 2nd part of driving around Preston. I used to work at the AA on Cheapside for 8 years, which it shows at 2:04. Thanks for the memories.

I can't believe you didn't get to Ingol before the video ended. I wanted to see my area years before I was even born, haha! Class video though!

David Taylor I think those baths were called Saul street baths. Demolished to make way for the crown court there today
Apart from the bus stop, the area by the Harris is completely unchanged!
