It was pretty huge in its day and I believe was the song at the end of Scream, an iconic (for a while) horror film. Their album wasn't that good though and Saffron didn't sound good live, so they kind of fizzled out.
One of my favs from back in the 90s. Saffron was a gorgeous woman with attitude and I always saw Republic as successors to Transvision Vamp, with the same pop/punk style fronted by a stunning young lady. Unfortunately they only lasted a couple of years before dropping off the radar, although I believe they are still going. They should have been huge given the success of other female fronted pop/punk/rock bands around at the time like Garbage, Elastica, Hole and many others, Republica deserved to be right up their too.

Saffron! I remember when this song came out in 1996! I was listening to The End in Portland, Oregon when I heard it. I was blown away immediately! This song 🎵 is one of the best songs ever recorded on Republica’s first multi platinum album! About a month ago I watched the original Scream movie 🎥 and literally flipped out when I heard Drop Dead 💀 Gorgeous! Wes Craven chose this song and made it Scream royalty! After the movie I found a brand new CD of them and bought it!

Yeah she really nailed it with Republica, not that her earlier house stuff was bad, her vocal range is better suited to the Brit Pop sound.
She looks even hotter than I imagined when I heard them on the radio
