Unfortunately, due to the dismal sales of GAs first album, Polydor wanted to Drop GA. Peter Lorraine convinces the Label to give GA another shot. So he goes to Brian Higgins (Xenomania) and asked him to create some tracks that would help GA. Brian inturn agreeded to do so if he and his team were the sole producer and writers for them. GA agreed and they started work on their Second Album. This meant that GA had to reject "Some Girls". The demo of "Some Girls" was then sent to 19 Management for Rachel Stevens. She was Richard X second choice. Geri, who was also managed by 19 Management some how saw and heard the demo of "Some Girls" and insisted that she recorded/have the song instead. 19 Management asked Richard X and he declined and said he prefered Rachel as she had already recorded a version of it. Upon hearing the news that the song was going to Rachel... (This next part was only rumored, never verified) Geri went to Richard X office/Record Studio and found his car, locked herself in it and would not get out until he gave her the song. She eventually got out, it was said that Richard X promised he would team up with her and they would write a new song together so that she would have writing credit on it. With "Some Girls" Geri would not. Don't know if this ever happended as Richard X never appeared on Passion a year later. But yeah... this was whole Car Story involving Geri acting like a 5 year old. At the time, I loved the craziness of it all and to this day after hearing this AI version, I am still loving all this drama!
Following on from this....Richard X then co-wrote the track 'Me Plus One' for Annie, which references this incident less-than-subtly, with lyrics referring to a 'wannabe señorita' who 'didn't make Italia Conti' but 'met a group of likely girls'. Listen to the track and refer to the rest of the lyrics for a light-hearted chuckle at Geri's expense, during a period in which she was at her most self-absorbed.

Geri later said the story stemmed from an incident where she needed a nap so bad during studio time that she just took one in a car and thus sparked the story, but if Richard X cowrote that song with Annie a few years later, it would be a bit reckless of him to base it on a rumor...I reckon she really did do this, but listen, I don't blame her. I would admit it. This song is such a chune I would do way more embarrassing things to make sure it was mine, lol! Like almost 20 years later and it's still a perfect song.
Hannah Robinson said it wasn’t written for anyone but Rachel wanted it and Richard X was pleased for her to do it. At the same time Geri’s A&R sent it to Geri and while she was in a session she said to Hannah that she had a great idea for a middle 8 for Some Girls and Hannah told her she thinks that song has gone to someone else, so Geri phones her manager really upset and Hannah is then threatened that she would never work in music again if Geri didn’t get that song but ultimately it was out of anyone’s hands as the deal was done. I think Geri would have done a much better video though

Much as is nice to hear Geri's voice, the refrain is too high a tone for her singing abilities. As a matter of fact, it sounds fake as she's never beem able to sing those high notes.
