I'm about to recharge my ac with AC Pro. But one thing I am trying to find out is why the hvac knob on the right of this panel is running hot, the other 2 are cool, no issues. Of note, I have replaced the old stock plastic with billet steel knobs. I looked at it and so did a local shop I trust in the area. And we both saw no melting of the switch or anything else. It's been a head scratcher for months. What worries me after I recharge the system with freon, I have a long drive ahead of me that requires air conditioning in this summer heat, and this knob is going to be getting hot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
This sounds sort of dumb, but could it be the light that serves as the backlighting for when the headlights are on? If so, swap it out with an LED and see if the switch still gets hot. If it does, and it's not the light, perhaps there is some kind of electrical short creating heat. That could lead down a wormhole of having to separate the individual wires out of the loom and tracing them as far as you can to try to find a short or issue. Hopefully it's something really simple!!
I have a 24 LJ my heater quite working on way into work going try the resister part first. Also check all my fuse’s
1:53 what is the name or part number of the plastic cover? Mine is missing and cannot find in the manual.
I'd like to know why you change the resistor? on mine I have high speed fan on the low switch and nothing on med.or high.
Nice video, thanks for explaining so well and clearly.
Glad it was helpful!

My 2004 TJ doesn’t look like that under the glove compartment.
Not all TJs have the same registers. The later models have something that looks more like a card.
Nice video though.
Thanks for the info! :)
