I can not doubt it because one was born on January 12 and the other one January 17. When the youngest died in 2011 the eldest said that the boxing world have lost a great fighter ,a boxer I respect and admire so much. Both are also great fighter

I got to shake both of these great men’s hands. I was playing a gig in DC, when all of a sudden I look to my right and people just lit up. Next thing you know here comes Muhammad Ali and he came right up to me and shook my hand (with horn in hand) and gave me the Muslim greeting. Years later I was at one of the celebrations of the March on Washington. And right on the steps where King spoke was Joe Frazier. Not only did I go d shake his hand I had a short conversation with him. Wow! Lucky me! 😊
The best explanation I saw was because Ali had a deep respect and fear of Frazier so Ali needed to mentally get on top of him like he did all his opponents. So no doubt it was harsh and questionable on Ali’s part but accepting it came from an inner part that Ali accepted Frazier as his nemesis and the only fighter who could get close to humbling him in his prime. Deep respect to both for the history they left us.
