There are a few possible reasons for this:

minor correction that i think is important: shdewz is not staff of the tournament this happened in, shdewz is a new member of the osu tournament committee and is the person (according to everyone i have talked to about this) who issued the ban

your still part of very stupid drama, and a major part of it at that. your also acting like if somebody genuinely is following a religion that you would call it a "excuse" anyways. (What it seems so far lol) also what did you even mean by "i never doubled down on anything"? your doubling down on it being an excuse. (seems like it at least)

not saying the ban was warranted after the added context which is why it is in discussion for a resolution, but how dever acted about it was by no means appropriate and only made researching it harder for us
@@shdewz ah. They shoulda just not banned him though, considering being afk in tournaments like that isn’t even against the rules if im not mistaken, and he wasn’t allowed to make noise at the moment for whatever reason, idk.

I don't really understand, for what exactly the player was banned. If you go to "tournament" page on osu website you won't see that being afk in lobby is not allowed. You could say that it "affects the competitive integrity" but that's just some bs considering both sides agreed to play like this and had no issue with the results.
Tbh the whole osu tournament rules segment is ruined by the phrase "case-by-case review of reports" Which basically means that osu staff is allowed to judge any situation based on whatever they want because there are literally no stated rules there which is cringe to say the least if you think about it.
Either make official detailed rules of what's allowed and not allowed or don't ban innocent players just because you desided so in your "case-by-case" review

I’m actually quite confused when I saw the Ramadan fast, “doesn’t fast mean to not eat” but I didn’t question it much because I don’t want to offend the religion lol
Fasting, primarily means to not eat but in Ramadan it's not just about fasting but also abstaining from any form of prohibited or discouraged activities as well. Not eating or drinking is the pre requisite.👍

you can just delete/move map background using osu cleaner and turn off beatmap thumbnail in osu settings to solve that just to be safe

As the host just saying - Shdewz is NOT affiliated with forest cup in any way. They are part of Tcomm, not our staff team.

The entire situation was not communicated. As far as we're aware, no one from our admin team (me, Convex, Shogeki or Flare_Drake) was reached out to by Tcomm, the other team wasn't reached out to and neither was CallMeRed. Convex was in the voice call with Dever's team (which he confirmed in tournament hub) during the whole situation and allowed them to do this as he saw the background context. At this moment CallMeRed has been disqualified from 5wc and forest cup, which is very sad at least from my perspective since he had a badge ripped away for no reason (he was winning forest cup 99%) and I would personally much rather not DQ him but I have no choice.
From what I know Tcomm is discussing the entire situation and what to do now so hopefully this gets solved soon

This feels like the automated matchmaking bans in games like cs, just screwing you over if you have a network issue or your pc crashes. Except more punishing. AND a human decided this was a good idea.
This is really stupid just let players have fun. If some friends have a pillow fight 4v4 and one doesn't play with them that's totally fine. It's not that serious and that he even got a punishment is stupid for me.

Man this was dumb as hell, and sst3w, you're right about this situation, and even if the player thought of Music to be Haram enough to break a fast and made it a reason for absence, CONSIDERING if he does on the usual cease all osu activities during the fasting period, then that decision he's made should've been respected. (I know that isn't the case, but I'm just giving an opinion on the matter.) Not disregarded as a fake excuse.

could've been any problem (could've said the dumbest reason imo). He stated that can't really play so he'll just be there not to get dq and everyone agreed. Idk what the person issuing the ban is even doing in that situation when everyone was ok with it. It wasn't their problem to begin with..... literally childish behavior otherwise i cannot explain it even to myself, 0 common sense. XD

It's true that music is haram, but that's the opinion of some scholars who draw from different teachings. My own opinion is that music is not haram. But the music or tune that is haram, when you eat there are starving people around you. So the clinking of your spoon or fork is very haram.
Both is not haram, you guys just throw something from your əss about this religion and believing it. For most of the sects music is not haram and plus eating in front of a feasting people isn't haram. If someone feasts, this is the decision of them not the one who is eating. If I don't feast for some particular reason as a Muslim they need to respect me too.
the only valid reason i could see for a ban would be something like "competitive integrity," and this is kinda the point shown in the official email "Reason for restriction: intentionally underperforming in tournament matches."
basically CallMeRed didnt compete and caused the match to become a 3v4 which can be seen as intentionally throwing. Now that being said we know that is not what actually happened since both teams were aware of the situation before the match and agreed to it and the team which was at a disadvantage still won, however the ban is still valid regardless of the match outcome.
the staffs actions and comments after the fact are pretty messed up though. This entire situation should have never gotten to this point since CallMeRed should have not been allowed to be in the match to begin with. i personally think the proper course of action here would be to specifically ban this scenario from happening again regardless of if everyone agrees to it before hand, basically refs should not allow it and if someone AFKs at that point they are knowingly breaking rules
This is actually stupid way to get banned at this point, if they agreed that they're okay with callmered being afk he shouldn't get this kind of punishment, say that it's a excuse I feel like Osu! Staff's like that are so disappointing because they don't respect their religion and so on.
